Israeli Military Confirms Drone Crash in Southern Lebanon
Taarek Refaat The Israeli military confirmed on Friday that one of its drones crashed in southern Lebanon during the night, attributing the incident to a technical malfunction. The military statement emphasized that there were no concerns about sensitive information being leaked. In a statement published by Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel's prominent newspaper, the military clarified that the drone's failure was caused by a technical issue and assured that there was no risk of security breaches. "The drone crashed due to a technical malfunction, and there are no concerns regarding the leak of sensitive information," the statement read. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. Earlier reports by Lebanese media outlet Al-Mayadeen, which is closely associated with Hezbollah, claimed that the Israeli drone had targeted a vehicle in the Kfarkila region of southern Lebanon before it crashed and exploded. While the Lebanese outlet suggested an attack on a vehicle, the Israeli military has not confirmed these allegations. This incident comes amid heightened security tensions along the Lebanese-Palestinian border, with increasing use of drones by both sides for surveillance and targeted operations. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has become more prevalent in recent months as the region experiences escalating hostilities and military activity. The crash is likely to add further strain to an already volatile situation. While Israel has often used drones for reconnaissance and surveillance missions along the border, the crash of an Israeli drone in Lebanon raises concerns over the potential for further incidents and retaliation. As the investigation continues, Israel's military authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further operational adjustments to prevent similar incidents in the future. However, they maintain confidence that no sensitive intelligence was compromised during the event. The use of drones in the region continues to be a focal point of security operations, and experts predict that their role in the Israeli-Lebanese conflict will only increase, especially as both sides look to maintain their technological edge in an increasingly tense environment. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Israeli strikes hit Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon
TEL AVIV, Israel - The Israeli army said on Friday that it had carried out a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon. According to the Israel Defense Froces (IDF), the facility, used by the militia to "manage its fire and defence array," was part of an underground Hezbollah site that was previously targeted in Israeli strikes. "In recent days, the IDF identified attempts by the Hezbollah terror organization to restore the site and therefore the terror infrastructure in the area was struck," the military said. The IDF added that the "presence of this site and the attempts to re-establish it constitute a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon." Lebanese media broadcast footage showing columns of thick smoke rising from the targeted hills near the city of Nabatiyeh area, which is 54 kilometres south of Beirut. Lebanese security sources confirmed to dpa that at least five heavy airstrikes struck the area. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Local media said residents in Nabatiyeh sought shelter amid the sound of loud explosions. Coinciding with the strikes, Lebanese security sources said an Israeli drone hit an apartment in Nabatiyeh al-Fawka. There was no immediate details on the incident from the Israeli army. At the end of November, Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire following more than a year of mutual cross-border fire. The agreement stipulated, among other things, that Hezbollah withdraw behind the Litani River, roughly 30 kilometres north of the Israeli-Lebanese border. ------------ Copyright (C) 2025, Tribune Content Agency, LLC. Israeli Army: Lebanese Government Responsible for What Is Happening
In the aftermath of Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon earlier today, Israeli Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a statement on X addressing reports of civilian casualties and property damage. The airstrikes reportedly targeted a Hezbollah position said to be used for fire management and protection. However, Lebanese media claimed that a nearby civilian building was hit, resulting in injuries. Adraee denied these allegations, stating that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had not targeted any civilian infrastructure. "According to the information available to us," he wrote, "the building was struck by a rocket-propelled munition that was stored inside the Hezbollah site and detonated as a result of the strike." Adraee went on to condemn Hezbollah, accusing the group of endangering civilians by storing weapons near populated areas. 'The terrorist Hezbollah continues to store its aggressive rockets near residential buildings and the Lebanese population, putting them at risk,' he said. He further asserted that Hezbollah's refusal to hand over its arsenal to the Lebanese state constitutes a persistent threat to residents in southern Lebanon. In his statement, Adraee also placed blame on the Lebanese government, holding it responsible for the current situation. 'The Lebanese government bears responsibility for what is happening on its territory due to its failure to confiscate Hezbollah's heavy weapons and rocket stockpiles,' he stated. The exchange adds to growing tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border, amid escalating confrontations between the Israeli military and Hezbollah in recent weeks.

Hamas hands over rocket suspect to Lebanese Army
Shafaq News/ On Sunday, Hamas delivered a Palestinian suspect to the Lebanese Army for allegedly launching rockets at Israel in March. The Lebanese Army stated that intelligence officers received the man, identified as M.G., at the entrance of Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp near Saida after coordinating with Hamas and Lebanon's General Security Directorate. Military officials said M.G. took part in rocket attacks on March 22 and 28 that targeted Israeli territory from southern Lebanon. The transfer followed a government decision and a recommendation by Lebanon's Supreme Defense Council, which warned Hamas and other factions against using Lebanese territory for operations that threaten national security. The council vowed to take 'the toughest measures' to prevent violations of Lebanese sovereignty. 'The Intelligence Directorate, in coordination with General Security, received the Palestinian M.G. from Hamas. He is suspected of involvement in two rocket attacks,' the army said. The Israeli-Lebanese conflict, which escalated into a full-scale war on September 23, 2024, began with Israeli military operations launched on October 8, 2023, in parallel with the war in Gaza. According to Lebanese authorities, the conflict has resulted in 4,115 deaths and 16,909 injuries—mostly among women and children—and displaced approximately 1.4 million people. Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel was required to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by February 18, 2025. However, the Israeli military has only completed a partial pullout and continues to occupy five strategic positions. Israel has justified its continued presence by citing what it calls the Lebanese army's failure to assume full security responsibilities along the Blue Line, the demarcation line between the two countries. Israel has reportedly breached the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon over 3,000 times since it went into effect in November 2024.
