Sisi, Greek PM Discuss Strategic Ties & Gaza Crisis
Nada Mustafa President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from Greek Prime Minister (PM) Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The call focused on the development of the strategic and distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Greece, according to the official Presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy. Both leaders expressed their keenness to continue enhancing mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, energy, electricity interconnection, and efforts to combat irregular migration. The call also addressed current regional developments. Mitsotakis listened to President El-Sisi's perspective on means to de-escalate tensions in the region and resolve ongoing conflicts. In this context, Sisi reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, secure the release of hostages and detainees, and ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid. Sisi also emphasized the need to begin the reconstruction of Gaza immediately following a ceasefire. He reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from their land and reiterated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy, remains the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. The spokesperson also noted that the conversation covered developments in Libya, with both sides stressing the importance of preserving peace and stability in the country and continuing to support the political process aimed at forming a unified government capable of organizing simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. Additionally, the call addressed the issue of maritime boundary demarcation in the Eastern Mediterranean. Both leaders underlined the importance of continued coordination and joint cooperation to achieve development and prosperity for all peoples of the region. Egypt's FM Delivers Message from President Sisi to Niger President
H-Tayea Acting on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty delivered a written message to President Abdourahamane Tiani of Niger during an official visit to Niamey, the capital of Niger. The letter reaffirmed the deep historical and fraternal ties between Egypt and Niger and expressed Egypt's commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors. Abdelatty conveyed President Sisi's warm greetings to President Tiani and emphasized that the visit reflects Egypt's strategic focus on strengthening its partnership with Niger. He highlighted Egypt's ongoing support for the people of Niger, grounded in the long-standing connections between the two nations. The Foreign Minister noted Egypt's appreciation for the recent positive momentum in bilateral relations, stressing the importance of building on these achievements to promote mutual interests and accelerate shared development. He also led a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders and representatives from major public and private companies, participating in the first Egypt–Niger Business Forum, which aims to boost economic, trade, and investment ties, particularly in energy, infrastructure, construction, and mining. The minister also stressed the strategic importance of Niger's stability to Egyptian national security, citing the Sahel region as a natural extension of Egypt's strategic neighborhood. He underscored the growing threat of terrorism and the spread of armed groups across Africa, making security cooperation and intelligence sharing between Egypt and Niger an urgent priority. The two sides also reviewed ongoing cooperation in counterterrorism and combating extremist ideologies, with Abdel Aaty highlighting Al-Azhar's role as a center of religious moderation. He pointed to Al-Azhar's training of Nigerien imams and scholars, the dispatch of religious envoys, and the scholarships offered to Nigerien students at Al-Azhar University. The Minister also praised the work of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development in building Nigerien institutional capacity. Regional and security issues were also discussed, including the escalating instability in the Sahel and West Africa, and the impact of conflicts in neighboring countries on broader regional security. Both sides emphasized the need for collective efforts to address these challenges. President Tiani expressed his deep appreciation to President Sisi and the Egyptian government for their continued support of Niger, both in development and in facing security challenges. Israeli ambassador urges MCD to participate in its global tenders for infra projects
Amid the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, in a meeting with Israeli ambassador to India Reuven Azar on Wednesday, stressed that India stands with Israel 'during these difficult times'. The countries share a 'strong relationship based on friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect', Singh said as Azar paid a visit to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The meeting, which went on for around an hour, was also attended by MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar. Deputy Mayor Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Leader of the House Pravesh Verma, Standing Committee Vice Chairperson Sundar Singh, additional commissioners, and other senior civic officials. At the meeting, discussions were held on improving civic services related to health, education, parks, solid waste management and others with the help of Israel's expertise. 'With Israel being a technologically advanced country, this kind of exchange of ideas and experiences will further strengthen the functioning of the corporation,' said Kumar. 'The ambassador asked us to participate in the global tenders they would issue for infrastructure projects in Israel, as they need manpower post the destruction caused by the war,' Singh said. After the meeting, Singh posted on X, 'Had a fruitful meeting with the Ambassador of Israel and his delegation on key municipal and civic issues such as waste management, urban planning, and innovation in public services.' After the meeting, civic officials said, Azar appreciated Delhi's cultural heritage and civic infrastructure, and extended an invitation to the Mayor to visit Israel to witness its advanced technology and innovations.
