Al-Quds brigades strike Israeli forces in Gaza, seize military drones and equipment
ALBAWABA – The Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released new video footage Sunday showing its fighters launching coordinated attacks on Israeli forces and vehicles positioned in the Netzarim corridor in Gaza. The group also announced it had captured two Israeli drones during the operation. Also Read Hamas responds to US ceasefire plan with bold demands The video documents targeted strikes on Israeli troop deployment and supply routes in the eastern part of the Netzarim axis, a key corridor dividing northern Gaza from its central and southern areas. The Brigades used short-range 107mm rockets in their assault, claiming direct hits on Israeli forces. In a symbolic gesture, footage shows the seized drones displayed in front of an image of Brigadier General Mohammad Saeed Izadi, the Iranian Quds Force official for Palestinian affairs, who was assassinated by Israel during the recent escalation. The fighters also confiscated Israeli military gear, including explosive devices and live ammunition, according to the footage. The release comes as part of a series of recent video publications by Al-Quds Brigades, documenting intensified resistance operations in both northern and southern Gaza. The group claims to have inflicted heavy losses on Israeli forces through ambushes, homemade explosive devices, and direct engagements since Israel resumed its military campaign on March 18. Israeli media confirmed continued losses. According to Army Radio, 30 Israeli soldiers and officers have been killed since March, 21 of them by roadside bombs. Haaretz reported that 20 soldiers were killed in Gaza in the past 29 days alone. Since the launch of Israel's ground offensive in late October 2023, Palestinian factions have focused on guerrilla tactics, including ambushes, tunnel warfare, and rocket barrages. These efforts have not only slowed Israeli advances but have also resulted in the destruction and disabling of numerous military vehicles. Rocket fire from Gaza into Israeli cities and settlements continues, as resistance groups emphasize their ability to maintain operational pressure across multiple fronts amid the ongoing war.

Iran Investigates Launch of Israeli Drones from Azerbaijan
Iran has called on Azerbaijan to conduct a thorough investigation into whether Israeli drones entered Iranian airspace from Azerbaijan during the recent hostilities between both countries, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani said on Saturday. During a press conference at the National Press Club in Yerevan, Sobhani said if it is confirmed that Israel used Azerbaijani soil to launch attacks against Iran during the recent war, then Tehran will consider this a serious violation and expects Baku to provide an official and transparent response. 'We do not confirm some of the information and reports published by certain sources in this regard... Once all aspects of the situation become clear, we will decide on our response,' the ambassador said according to Fars news agency, which is affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards. 'We have not permitted Iranian territory to be used for such purposes. If Azerbaijan has granted such permission, it must provide an explanation in accordance with international law,' the ambassador added. Sobhani said Iranian intelligence has received information indicating that a small number of Israeli drones crossed into Iran from neighboring countries. As a result, he said, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian raised the issue in a phone call with his Azerbaijani counterparty, Ilham Aliyev, requesting a serious investigation. Sobhani indicated that Azerbaijan has assured Iran that it would not allow its territory to be used against it. However, he emphasized that Tehran needs to receive accurate information before responding. Two weeks ago, Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran and the two sides have since exchanged strikes, with growing civilian casualties on both sides. Early last Sunday, the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear sites after more than a week of Israeli strikes on Tehran's military and nuclear facilities. In retaliation, Iran launched a missile attack on the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar. Last April, Pezeshkian visited Azerbaijan and agreed with Aliyev on a road map to strategic and comprehensive cooperation. Relations between the two countries have been tense for a long time because Azerbaijan in March 2023 opened an embassy in Israel. Azerbaijan also maintains close ties to Israel, which Tehran views as its top regional enemy. Iran has repeatedly opposed improving relations between Azerbaijan and Israel. In February 2023, Azerbaijan arrested seven people in the capital Baku and other regions in an operation against an Iranian "spy network.' As part of their campaign, Azerbaijani forces also raided the offices of pro-Iranian news outlets SalamNews and InterAz. This came after a gunman with a Kalashnikov rifle barged inside the Azerbaijani Embassy premises in Tehran and opened fire, killing the embassy's security chief and injuring two guards.

Israel Expands Attack to Include Iran's Oil and Gas Industry
In a widening of its military campaign against Iran, Israel targeted Iran's critical energy infrastructure at gas and petrochemical refineries on Saturday, according to a statement from Iran's oil ministry. The statement said Israeli drones had targeted a section of the South Pars Gas Field in Bushehr Province. South Pars is one of the world's largest gas fields and a critical part of Iran's energy production. The Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company was also targeted, the ministry said. Iran is one of the world's major energy producers. It has the second-largest gas reserves in the world and fourth-largest crude oil reserves. Videos posted to social media and verified by The Times showed a large fire burning at the South Pars gas refinery in Iran's southern Bushehr Province. The explosions took production lines at both facilities offline, the ministry statement said, even as firefighters and emergency crew had largely contained the blazes. Want all of The Times? Iran's Vital Oil Industry Is Vulnerable in an Escalating Conflict
The conflict between Israel and Iran appeared to be spreading on Saturday to Iran's energy infrastructure, raising fears about energy supplies from the Middle East. Iran's oil ministry blamed Israeli drones for attacking part of the South Pars natural gas field, one of the world's largest, and a refinery, causing fires at both. It is not clear how far Israel intends to go in attacking Iran's energy facilities, a crucial source of export cash for the country as well as domestic energy that looks particularly vulnerable. Other Iranian installations are at risk, analysts say. 'There is one clear target that would make it very easy if Israel or the United States wanted to impact Iran's oil exports,' Homayoun Falakshahi, senior analyst for crude oil at Kpler, a research firm, said during a webinar on Friday. 'And this is Kharg Island.' Nearly all of Iran's oil exports leave from tankers at berths around Kharg Island, a small coral land mass in the northern part of the Persian Gulf off the Iranian coast, potentially making it a target in a protracted war, analysts say. Iran has been developing another terminal in Jask, a coastal city just outside the Strait of Hormuz on the Gulf of Oman, but its capacity appears to be limited, Mr. Falakshahi said.
