Hit-and-run crash in Tuaran claims motorcyclist's life

TUARAN: A motorcyclist was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Kampung Lok Batik here on Saturday. Police said the 7.50am crash involved a Modenas Kriss motorcycle and a Perodua Kembara, which was allegedly struck by a Proton Iswara. The Iswara driver fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle about 200 metres away in front of an unoccupied house, police added. The motorcyclist, who suffered serious head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene. Teen slashed in attempted abduction while jogging
SHAH ALAM: A teenage boy suffered a terrifying ordeal when he was nearly abducted by two men while out jogging in Section 13 yesterday. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police received a report from the 15-year-old victim at 10.42pm. At 5.15pm, the victim was jogging alone when approached by an old grey car, believed to be a Proton Saga or Iswara, with two men inside. "One suspect got out, pointed a knife, and ordered the victim into the car. "The victim refused, struggled with the suspect, and escaped to a nearby condominium guardhouse for help," he said today. The victim suffered a cut on his right cheek and wounds on both arms. He was taken to hospital for treatment. The case is being investigated under sections 363/511 and 324 of the Penal Code for kidnapping and causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, respectively. The offences carry jail terms of up to seven and 10 years respectively, as well as possible fines or whipping. "Anyone with information can contact investigating officer Inspector Mohamad Sabri Abd Rani at 017-2892628," said Iqbal.

Teen hurt after escaping attempted abduction in Shah Alam

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : A 15-year-old schoolboy escaped an attempted abduction while jogging alone in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam, yesterday evening. Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the teenager lodged a police report at 10.42pm last night, several hours after the incident. 'The boy was approached by two unidentified men in an old grey vehicle, believed to be a Proton Saga or Iswara, at about 5.15pm. 'One of the suspects exited the vehicle and pointed a knife at the victim, ordering him to get in,' Iqbal said in a statement. Iqbal said the teenager resisted and got into a scuffle with the suspect before managing to flee to a nearby condominium guardhouse to seek help. 'The complainant sustained injuries, including a cut on his right cheek and wounds on both arms. He was taken to the hospital for further treatment,' he said. Police are investigating the case under Section 363 for kidnapping, and Section 511 of the Penal Code for attempting to commit a crime. The case is also being investigated under Section 324 of the same code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.

Man killed in Keningau crash

KENINGAU: A man was killed while a college student suffered injuries in an accident involving their cars – a Proton Iswara and a Proton Saga - along Jalan Sook-Keningau, Tuesday. Keningau District Police Chief Supt Yampil Garai identified the deceased as a 44-year-old travelling in the Iswara. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The injured Saga driver, a 22-year-old college student, was sent to the Keningau Hospital for treatment following the 6am accident. Preliminary investigations showed the Iswara was travelling from Sook to Keningau, while the Saga was heading in the opposite direction. The Saga driver lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a bend, resulting in the collision with the Iswara on the opposite lane. Sook Fire and Rescue Station Chief Faizal Ahmad said they received an emergency call at 6.05am. Meanwhile, in KIMANIS, a 38-year-old woman sustained serious injuries when her Honda City collided with a Toyota Vios in Kampung Oyong, Tuesday. Kimanis Fire and Rescue Station Chief Nelson Ponji said a 6.51am distress call prompted a team to the scene. Firefighters had to extricate the woman who was trapped inside the City, while two others in the Vios managed to exit their vehicle before rescuers arrived.
