‘I am not a boy anymore': Mpumelelo Mseleku pays lobola
Mpumelelo also explained why he was unable to pay lobola for his long-time girlfriend, Tirelo Kale, first. Reality TV star Mpumelelo Mseleku is overjoyed after finally paying lobola for one of his girlfriends, Amahle Mgazi. 'Now I will not be underestimated. I am not a boy anymore; I am a man,' Mpumelelo said proudly in the latest episode of Izingane Zes'thembu. Mpumelelo, the son of polygamist and businessman Musa Mseleku, has three children with his girlfriend Tirelo Kale and his ex-girlfriend Vuyokazi Nciweni. He introduced Amahle in the latest season of Izingane Zes'thembu, which premiered in May this year. 'I wanted to have MaKale [Tirelo] as the first wife. But my problem is that the Kale family doesn't want to start the negotiation process. I can't let this burden me. 'It should be something that they work out as a family in their own time. I want to build my home. I can't wait for them,' he said. Meanwhile, on the show, Tirelo said she was no longer ready to become Mpumelelo's wife. 'I was ready, but not anymore… Seeing that he didn't tell me he was going to ask for Amahle's hand in marriage, he must not pay lobola for me. I have already sent my family a message,' she said. Tirelo also hinted at trouble in paradise during an interview with The Citizen a few weeks ago. 'I don't know. There's a lot of ngena phuma [coming and going]. Maybe I'll just go,' she said, speaking about her future with Mpumelelo. READ MORE: Q&A with Tirelo and Mpumelelo Mseleku: Parenthood, engagement rumours and 'Izingane Zes'thembu' S3

Abongwe Mseleku to cook with 'Shaka iLembe' and Knorrox
Abongwe hopes to merge her passion for cooking with her film skills one day. Izingane Zes'thembu star Abongwe Mseleku has gone from learning to cook on TikTok to collaborating with some of South Africa's biggest brands. Abongwe was one of the guests for Knorrox at the launch of Shaka iLembe Season 2, which premiered on Sunday, 15 June, with Knorrox as the associate sponsor. As part of the collaboration, Abongwe and fellow TikTok influencers MaMbomvu and Mprudie will take part in a weekly live series every Sunday. The trio will share their personal cooking journeys and prepare traditional South African dishes with a fresh, youthful twist, while also sharing their individual food stories. Speaking to The Citizen, Abongwe said she started learning to cook during her first year at university. 'I had to start preparing my own meals. I spent the whole year eating wraps and some weird combos I've never seen — not because there wasn't food, but because I didn't know what to do with the food.' She then started her 'teaching myself how to cook' video series, which has since become popular online and led to collaboration deals with brands like Knorrox. 'I wasn't expecting to be recognised by such a big brand because I was just doing it to teach myself how to cook. 'But as the saying goes, you reap what you sow — so if you sow good, you reap good, which I am very grateful for.' She said the brand has been part of her life since childhood, which makes the partnership feel particularly special. 'Knorrox was in every meal prepared at home. It gives me a feeling of home. My mum used those cubes almost every time she made curry,' she added. 'The progress I've made has really encouraged me. I've found joy in being in the kitchen, especially because no one's forcing me to do it. 'I definitely think I'll continue cooking, and I'd love to create something bigger from it when I'm done with my studies. I see a collaboration between my cooking and my film.' Pictures: Supplied South African celebrities have stepped onto the gold carpet in regal, African-inspired fashion to celebrate the much-anticipated new season of Shaka iLembe. But while the stars had all the room to shine, members of the media were left navigating a gold carpet as cramped as a shopping aisle. Trying to take a picture or secure an interview felt like strutting through a straw. However, that did not take away from what was a beautiful event, also attended by the reigning king of the Zulu nation, Misuzulu kaZwelithini. 'I think the biggest challenge is obviously filling the great shoes of such a king who has left a massive legacy.' Season two premieres this Sunday on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 8pm. CEO of general entertainment at MultiChoice, Nomsa Philiso, said the show continues to bring history to life. Picking up right where Season 2 left off, the trailer teases more high-stakes games, emotional confrontations, and the return of some fan-favourite characters. Since its debut in 2021, Squid Game has become a worldwide hit, winning awards and breaking streaming records. In February this year, the show lost one of its cast members, veteran actress Lee Joo-sil. She passed away at the age of 80 after collapsing at her home in Uijeongbu, South Korea, and going into cardiac arrest. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, she had been diagnosed with stomach cancer just three months before her death. Lee was also a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in her fifties. Her passing came only a few weeks after the premiere of Squid Game Season 2. In the second season of the hit Netflix series, she played Park Mal-soon — the mother of Wi Ha-joon's detective character and stepmother to Lee Byung-hun's Front Man. Q&A with young Izingane Zes'thembu couple Tirelo and Mpumelelo
We caught up with Tirelo and Mpumelelo to talk about the new season, including those engagement rumours. The third season of Uthando Nes'thembu spin-off Izingane Zes'thembu premiered in May this year, offering viewers a look into the lives of the next generation of the Mseleku family. The Season 3 trailer hinted at trouble in paradise for young couple Tirelo Kale and Mpumelelo Mseleku, who return to the screen alongside siblings Sne, Mpilo, Lwandle, Abongwe and others. We caught up with Tirelo and Mpumelelo to discuss what fans can expect this season, their journey as parents, and whether there's any truth to those engagement rumours. While Mpumelelo chose not to answer some of our questions, here's what they had to say. ALSO READ: 'I choose not to talk badly about their father': Mel Bala on co-parenting after divorce from Zwai Q&A with Tirelo and Mpumelelo What can fans expect from the new season, especially when it comes to your relationship as a couple? Tirelo: They can expect growth — and a little bit of betrayal [laughs]. As we grow, we're also discovering new things about each other. Mpumelelo: Viewers can expect good things from us, even though we'll go through some challenges. How has your experience on the show evolved since Season 1, and your relationships with your siblings? Tirelo: The first season was a bit overwhelming because I was pregnant. But now, I'm much more comfortable in front of the camera. We're able to be ourselves, and there's growth in that. I'm still trying to figure out the relationship with the siblings, even though it's not always easy. Mpumelelo: I've grown a lot personally, and the bond between my partner and I has also become stronger. How has parenthood been for you, and what has it taught you? Tirelo: Motherhood is beautiful but challenging. I'm grateful for the support system I have — Mpumelelo's mum and my family have both been there. So I'd say I'm managing well, apart from the small fights with Mpumelelo [laughs]. How is Mpumelelo as a father? Tirelo: Yoh! Mpumelelo as a father? I honestly don't know — I'd rather not speak for him. I guess viewers will see for themselves on the show. There are rumours that you and Mpumelelo are engaged. Is that true? Tirelo: On that one, I'd say viewers should stay tuned to Mzansi Magic. I don't want to spoil anything — maybe we'll all find out together. Where do you see your relationship in five years? Tirelo: I don't know. There's a lot of ngena phuma (coming and going). Maybe I'll just go. NOW READ: Mandisi Dyantyis running for the Methodist Church at this year's Comrades Marathon
