Outstanding performance from Jack Moore in Germany

Young local karting sensation Jack Moore enjoyed a hard-fought, character-building weekend in the second round of the FIA European Karting Championship in Mülsen at the Motorsport Arena-E Circuit, situated between the major German cities of Dresden and Leipzig. The series that caters for drivers between the ages of 12 and 14 uses the 'arrive and drive' principle among the 49 competitors from around the globe, all using identical karts with engines drawn from a motor-pool and then swapped between drivers for the duration of the event. Moore had a brilliant Saturday, finishing in second place in the first qualifying heat race, including the fastest lap time, and then fourth place in the second qualifier and fifth in the third qualifier, thereby marching into the Sunday finals with his confidence high. Unfortunately, the engine he drew for the final day was not quite as good as the Saturday engine, but Moore still managed to put in a scintillating performance running in the top three for the majority of the 20-lap final using a great display of race-craft and defensive driving. With four laps to go, the charging pack behind Moore launched their attack, forcing him to run wide off the track and drop down to 11th position, from where he fought back to ninth place overall when the chequered flag came out. Fellow South African Emma-Rose Dowling finished in 25th place out of the 36 karts that qualified for the final. The FIA Karting Academy European Championship Trophy takes place over three rounds, with the next and final round being held in Italy from September 25-28. The Herald

Local stars shine at karting nationals

Jack Moore was the class act of the day at the ROK Cup National Karting Championships which took place at the Celso Scribante Circuit in Gqeberha at the weekend. In the evenly matched OKJ class which saw the top seven all qualifying within one second of each other, Moore took pole position but was beaten by Reagile Mailula in the opening heat after an intense battle up front. Fellow Algoa Kart Club member Aashay Nagura received a five-second penalty for a nose-cone infringement which dropped him to seventh place for race one. In race two, it was Moore who triumphed, with Nagura coming home second after Mailula was penalised for a nose-cone infringement. Race three saw Moore take the win from Mailula in second and Nagura crossing the line in fourth place. The overall classification after three heats was Moore in first, Mailula second and Nagura third, with Moore extending his lead in the SA championships with just one more round left at the Redstar Raceway on August 23. In the OK-N class, Josh Moore was the best of the local drivers with a fourth-place overall finish and Wyatt Jonas finished in seventh place after competing in a national event at his home track for the first time. The class was won by Muhammad Wally, with Gianna Pascoal in second place after an intense battle upfront, and Jesse Swart rounding out the podium places. In the Mini ROK class, it was not the greatest of days for championship leader Max Boshoff with a seventh place finish in race one after qualifying in second place on the grid, then stormed home to win heat two before disaster struck in race three when his kart would not start. This opened the door for Santiago Frada to take the overall class win, with Kayde Cornofsky second and Kiyaan Reddi third. In the Mini ROK U10 class, local driver Egor Grishin finished in seventh overall with Riley van Staden taking three out of three race wins. Noah Cronje came home in second place and Radhi Harris third. Caleb Rogers was unstoppable in the Cadet class which caters for youngsters from five to eight years old, with a full house of wins. Ethan Zita was second and Grayson Venter third overall. The Herald

Local stars set to take on the best at karting nationals

Gqeberha karting enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend when the third round of the SA National ROK Cup Championship takes place at the Celso Scribante Circuit at Algoa Kart Club on Victoria Drive. Leading the charge of the local stars is Jack Moore, who is the current championship leader in the OKJ class. He recently returned from representing SA at the FIA Karting Academy Trophy Series in Valencia, Spain, where he finished in 14th place overall. He will relish the benefit of the home-track advantage and will want to capitalise on this and try to extend his lead in the championship standings. Joining Moore in the OKJ class is the ever-consistent Aashay Nagura, who finds himself in eighth place in the championship after having missed the opening round. A newcomer to national karting, 16-year-old Wyatt Jonas is in third place in the fiercely competitive OK-N class and will certainly be one to watch after having joined forces with the NBR Karting Team under the mentorship of Neil Basilio. Joshua Moore returns from VW Rookie Cup duties to join in the OK-N action and is in seventh place overall after having missed the opening round due to a clash of dates in his busy schedule. Moore is just one point off the lead in the VW Rookie Cup Championship after another strong performance at Zwartkops last weekend. Another Bay resident and rising star is nine-year-old Egor Grishin, who seems destined for bigger and better things, competing in the hard-fought Mini Rok U10 class where mere milliseconds often separate the entire field of future stars. Grishin is in seventh place in the national standings that has just 28 points separating the top seven contenders. With Friday being just a practice and set-up day, the racing action starts with qualifying at 10am on Saturday, and the first race is scheduled for 12pm, where the five competing classes will have three heats each. Upcoming events: June 27-28: ROK Karting Nationals at Algoa Kart Club June 28: Rover Motorcycle Club Navigational Enduro round 3; Dirt Oval racing at Border Stockcar Track in East London July 5: Algoa Motorsport Club — Main Circuit racing round 4; Dirt Oval Racing at Victory Raceway, club championship round 6 July 18: National Extreme Festival, East London Grand Prix Circuit July 19: Dirt Oval racing at PEOTR, Club Championship round 6 July 24-26: Algoa National Rally in Kariega & Longmore Forest July 26: Rhino Night Relay Enduro at Rover Motorcycle Club July 27: British Classics Show Day at EP Veteran Car Club. Busy weekend at Algoa club ahead of karting nationals

Algoa Kart and Motorcycle Club, along Victoria Drive, will be a hive of activity this weekend in anticipation of the ROK Karting Nationals that take place at the Celso Scribante Circuit next weekend. This Saturday sees the fourth round of the local regional and club championship taking place, and many out-of-town competitors will be grabbing the opportunity to get in some last-minute testing before the nationals take place. The Scribante track has long been considered as one of the favourite circuits on the national scene by the competitors due to a mix of tight technical sections as well as long sweeping high-speed corners. Local star Jack Moore returns from his international campaign and will be the driver to beat in the OKJ Rok class along with fellow local lad Aashay Nagura, who are joined by out-of-town drivers Zuan Breytenbach and Aleksander Praizovic. Hoping for a strong showing in his first season of National competition is 16-year-old Wyatt Jonas, who will be competing in the OK-N Class. Having driven a kart for the first time at the age of 12 at the Algoa Indoor Grand Prix Track, which was situated at the Moffett-on-Main Shopping Centre before relocating to Baywest Mall, Jonas had his first taste of the thrill that kart racing has to offer. He then joined the junior ranks of the MSR4-stroke kart before moving up to the senior ranks, where he put in some notable performances that led to him joining forces with Neil Basilio in the NBR Racing to compete in the National Series. Saturday's racing action is set to get under way from 8am. Entry is free to spectators, and food and beverages will be on sale. The Herald

McRae man arrested on animal cruelty charges

MCRAE, Ark. – McRae Police Chief Dakota Burks confirmed the arrest of Jack Moore on two counts of animal cruelty after a month-long investigation stemming from multiple community complaints. Moore was apprehended Friday at 11 a.m. in Bald Knob by the Bald Knob Police Department after being located at his brother's residence. McRae police investigating 'pure evil' animal cruelty case Chief Burks stated that Moore had been 'irate' at the time of his arrest and claimed the charges were false. Despite his denial, McRae police say they gathered sufficient evidence to move forward with charges. The case began after several complaints from local residents, including reports of missing cats and suspicious behavior. 'You can't arrest someone based solely on a complaint,' Burks said. 'That's why we opened a full investigation. What we found provided enough evidence to believe animal cruelty had occurred.' According to Burks, the most serious accusation against Moore is that he allegedly threw a live cat into the street, resulting in paralysis of the animal. 'There's no evidence he threw it over the house, as some had speculated,' Burks clarified. 'But there is credible evidence, including witness statements, that he did throw the cat into the street.' In total, five to six cats have been reported missing in the area. McRae Police also recovered a pellet rifle believed Moore had used in harming the animals. Testing is ongoing to determine whether the pellets found in or near the injured animals match the rifle. Moore appeared before a judge Friday and has since been released on bond. His first court date is set for June 9 at 2 p.m. He faces two felony counts of animal cruelty. The McRae Police Department has stated they are committed to upholding the law and ensuring a fair trial. McRae man speaks out against allegations of animal abuse Family members and local residents have spoken out about Moore's behavior, painting a picture of someone they say has long had issues with animals. 'He's never really cared for animals,' said Josh Kamer, Moore's son-in-law. 'If you watch his YouTube, you can see his harassing mentality.' Kamer alleged that Moore baited cats with traps in the front yard while blaming them for attacking rabbits kept in the backyard. 'Your rabbits are dying from neglect and predators, not cats,' he said. Moore's own mother, Mary Moore, expressed concern about his actions, recounting times when her son would check his traps and return to the house to grab his pellet gun if something was caught. 'If it's a snake, that's one thing,' she said. 'But not domesticated animals.' The arrest has brought a sense of relief to some in the community, Kamer said. 'No cats have gone missing since he's been gone,' said Kamer. 'And people on Lynn Street are happy. There might even be a parade.' The White County Sheriff's Office jail records confirm Moore's release on bond. Moore replied to a request for comment saying he could not talk at the moment on Friday. Kitten found tied in bag sparks outcry, push for stronger laws against animal cruelty in North Little Rock This case has brought renewed focus to animal welfare in McRae, a small but tight-knit community, said Burks. 'We do our best to serve and protect,' Burks said. 'And cruelty to animals simply has no place here.' In a statement to FOX 16 News, Jack Moore said, 'the McRae Court is not a court of record and seeing how my civil rights have been violated by this judge and prosecutor, every decision from this court will be appealed to higher courts and won.
