Spanish small forward Hugo Gonzalez is a perfect fit for the Boston Celtics
Spanish small forward Hugo Gonzalez is a perfect fit for the Boston Celtics. Or such is the point of view shared by the hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, in a recent clip taking a closer look at the 19-year-old wing that Boston elected to select with the No. 28 overall pick of the 2025 NBA draft. While he does not yet have a clear-cut, Association-level skill to his repertoire, the Madrid native has one of the highest motors we have ever seen a player maintain on the court, and the athleticism and strength to make good use of it against some of the best competition in the world. Simone and LaFrance take some time on a recent episode to highlight what it was that likely got the Celtics front office to take the European forward in the first round. Check it out below! Reacting to the Boston Celtics drafting forward Hugo Gonzalez
The Boston Celtics have made their pick for the No. 28 overall selection of the 2025 NBA draft, and it has some fans of the team scratching their head. Boston elected to take Spanish small forward Hugo Gonzalez with their sole pick in the first round of the draft, a 6-foot-6 wing able to jump out of the gym with a motor that only seems to be able to go in fourth gear. But his youth and rawness are both the attraction and concern, as the native of Madrid, Spain has yet to develop any bona fide NBA-level skills -- but also oozes potential with his raw athleticism and energetic play. Did the Celtics potentially strike gold with this pick late in the first round, or chain themselves to guaranteed salary with a player they will not likely have a ton of time to develop? the hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, put together a clip talking over the selection for the Celtics. Should the Boston Celtics take French small forward Noah Penda in the 2025 NBA draft?
Should the Boston Celtics take French small forward Noah Penda in the 2025 NBA draft? The Celtics control the Nos. 28 and 32 picks of the '25 draft in the first and second round, respectively, and could need some cheap forward depth for the future. If Boston trades away backup 3-and-D specialist Sam Hauser into someone's cap space to save money on a potentially historic tax bill and pick up a draft asset or two, that need would be even greater. Enter Penda, a 6-foot-7 forward weighing in at 225 lbs. in his 20th year. Playing overseas in France for Le Mans Sarthe, the Frenchman passes well and put up 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, just under a block, and 1.2 steals per game in 27.3 minutes per game. What is Derrick White's trade value to the Boston Celtics?
What is Derrick White's trade value to the Boston Celtics after the Memphis Grizzlies trade of Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic? Whatever the offer, it had better be a huge one, given the Colorado native has a boatload of value to his current team. Meaning it would likely have to be on par or even better than the four first round picks and solid salary coming back in the Bane deal. But is there really a ball club out there that would spend that sort of draft capital on a player like White? Or is the market for such players more context dependent than the swap that landed the Griz guard in Orlando might seem to suggest to us? Should the Boston Celtics take Joan Beringer in the 2025 NBA draft?
Should the Boston Celtics take Joan Beringer in the 2025 NBA draft? At just 18 years old, Beringer is an intriguing prospect who stands at 6-foot-10 and weighs in at 230 lbs, playing the center position for Croatia's KK Cedevita Junior club last season. The Strasbourg, France native put up 5.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in that campaign while hitting 64.4% of his shots from the field overall, but just 56.6% from the free throw line. Those might not be eye-popping numbers, but European ball tends to be more of a team effort on both ends, and he accomplished it in just 18.8 minutes of playing time. Advertisement The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk over Beringer's fit in Boston.
