Influencers rank UAE as top destination for content creation in MENA

"The UAE leads as the top choice for MENA content creators, with influencers praising its creative energy, global reach, and nonstop opportunities/Representative Image The UAE has emerged as the top destination for content creators in the MENA region, with 45% of surveyed influencers naming it their country of choice, according to the newly released InfluAnswer Arabia report by Weber Shandwick MENAT. The study, now in its second edition, highlights how content creators view the GCC region as a hub for transformation, particularly in tourism and entertainment. The UAE's lead is followed by Saudi Arabia at 26% and Lebanon at 10%, reinforcing the Gulf's position as a driving force in regional content and influencer ecosystems. Why Creators Choose the UAE Influencers across the region view the UAE as a global creative hotspot that offers continuous opportunities for content. Speaking with local news outlet Khaleej Times, Abu Dhabi-based influencer Jacquelyn May, who has over 93,000 Instagram followers, said the country's appeal is deeply personal. 'I live in Abu Dhabi and truly love it. After spending nine years in the UAE, I can confidently say that both Dubai and the country as a whole are among the best places in the world to live.' 'That's why working to promote the city and country I call home is something I'm genuinely passionate about.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Rapidly build dynamic web experiences with preconfigured solutions - Google Cloud: Future of Infrastructure CIO | Google Cloud, AMD Undo She described the content scene in Dubai as a creative melting pot. 'There's beauty everywhere, and it's incredibly photogenic. You meet people from all over the world and get to explore different aspects of content that appeal to a wide range of audiences.' Even during the summer, May noted the UAE remains content-friendly. 'Whether it's spending time at Aquaventure, relaxing on the beach, or going night swimming, the city constantly offers new opportunities for content creation. It's a stark contrast to my time in Canada, where eight months of snow often meant staying indoors.' She also highlighted the importance of authenticity. 'My audience is largely based in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, so while I keep an eye on trends, I always ensure that my content reflects who I am and resonates with my community.' Regional Momentum and Market Growth The GCC region is not only attracting creators but also seeing exponential growth in the travel and tourism sectors. According to Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME at Arabian Travel Market: 'Travel growth in the Middle East is incredibly strong, with annual growth averaging more than 7 per cent through 2030. Bold national visions, game-changing developments, and enhanced connectivity are some of the key factors driving this momentum.' The report also notes a trend toward long-form content. While short-form remains dominant, more creators are producing deeper, storytelling-focused content. Additionally, 60% of creators posted more frequently in the past year about social or personal causes, reflecting a shift toward values-driven content. May pointed out that many influencers who move from countries like the UK or Australia often tailor content to their home audiences. However, she has fully aligned her work with the GCC region: 'My niche is very much focused on the GCC, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE. My audience and identity as a MENA creator are deeply rooted in this region.' Growing Role of AI and Evolving Creator Values The report shows a sharp rise in positive sentiment toward AI tools among creators. In 2024, only 29% of MENA influencers had a positive view of AI. That number has now climbed to 49%, as creators increasingly adopt automation and analytics to support their work. Key findings on AI usage: 63% believe AI will deliver more advanced tools and metrics Creators are using AI to automate repetitive tasks and free up time for storytelling and creative focus Ziad Hasbani, Regional CEO of Weber Shandwick MENAT, said: 'MENA's influencer landscape continues to mature, and despite increased competition, content creators are growing in confidence. The themes driving optimism centre around authenticity, community-building, and strategic diversification.' 'This year's report gives brands a clearer lens into what creators value and how to build partnerships that are authentic, impactful, effective, and built to last.'

UAE top country of choice for MENA content creators as GCC drives positive change

A growing number of influencers believe the Gulf is at the forefront of regional transformation — especially in the tourism and entertainment sectors. Among the standout nations, the UAE emerged as the top pick, with 45 per cent of surveyed creators pointing to its growing influence and innovation in this space. Saudi Arabia followed at 26 per cent, while Lebanon was chosen by 10 per cent of respondents. That's according to the newly released InfluAnswer Arabia report by Weber Shandwick MENAT (Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey), where 77 per cent of MENA content creators say GCC countries are leading the way in driving positive change across these industries. Now in its second edition, InfluAnswer Arabia captures the views of the region's influencer community, shedding light on how creators perceive shifts in the influencer marketing ecosystem and the broader role of countries in shaping industry trends. New and continuous content opportunities in UAE Speaking to Khaleej Times, social media influencer Jacquelyn May, who has 93.3K followers on Instagram, said, "I live in Abu Dhabi and truly love it. After spending nine years in the UAE, I can confidently say that both Dubai and the country as a whole are among the best places in the world to live. That's why working to promote the city and country I call home is something I'm genuinely passionate about." She explained as a content creator, staying on top of trends is important — though it can be challenging at times. "What matters is staying true to your niche and personal style. My audience is largely based in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, so while I keep an eye on trends, I always ensure that my content reflects who I am and resonates with my community." "One of the things I love most about being a creator here is how international the experience is. You meet people from all over the world and get to explore different aspects of content that appeal to a wide range of audiences. Dubai, in particular, feels like a creative melting pot — there's beauty everywhere, and it's incredibly photogenic.' May emphasized there's always something happening here, even in the summer. 'Whether it's spending time at Aquaventure, relaxing on the beach, or going night swimming, the city constantly offers new opportunities for content creation. It's a stark contrast to my time in Canada, where eight months of snow often meant staying indoors with little to do." Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, said, "Travel growth in the Middle East is incredibly strong, with annual growth averaging more than 7 per cent through 2030. Bold national visions, game-changing developments, and enhanced connectivity are some of the key factors driving this momentum.' While short-form content continues to dominate, long-form content is growing in prominence. Many creators are experimenting with lengthy, in-depth content types that allow for more personal storytelling and authentic expression. Additionally, six in ten MENA creators say that they posted more in the past year about causes they care personally care about. 'My niche is very much focused on the GCC, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Many creators who move here from the UK or Australia tend to tailor their content to their home countries. But for me, my audience and identity as a MENA creator are deeply rooted in this region,' she added. Positive about AI Meanwhile, positive sentiment toward AI tools has surged, with influencers increasingly shifting from a neutral stance to hands-on implementation and broader experimentation. Almost half — 49 per cent — of creators in the MENA region now view AI positively, a significant rise from just 29 per cent last year. Digital creators believe the most notable impact of AI will be the emergence of more sophisticated tools and analytics -- cited by 63 per cent -- enabling them to automate repetitive tasks and dedicate more time to storytelling. Ziad Hasbani, Regional CEO, Weber Shandwick MENAT, said, "MENA's influencer landscape continues to mature, and despite increased competition, content creators are growing in confidence. The themes that are driving optimism and progress centre around authenticity, community-building, and strategic diversification in terms of platforms, content types, and monetisation. This year's report gives brands a clearer lens into what creators' value, and how to build partnerships that are authentic, impactful, effective, and built to last.'

Dubai Influencer's Support for Modest Fashion Gone Viral

In a city known for its gleaming skyline, rich culture, and deep-rooted hospitality, it was a moment of light-hearted elegance that recently stole the spotlight. Jacquelyn May, a Dubai-based content creator, shared a short and thoughtful video that sparked a wave of positivity and reflection—not only among her followers but across the UAE. With over a million views and a nod from Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan, her message clearly resonated. A Joyful Call for Respect: How One Video Inspired a Citywide Conversation The video shows May confidently walking through Dubai Mall in a traditional Mukhawar Jalabiya, a look she described as 'respectful' and 'put together.' Her warm delivery and subtle humor—'This is Dubai Mall, not a Victoria's Secret fashion show'—struck a chord with audiences from all walks of life. What began as a personal observation turned into a cultural touchpoint. In her own words, May wanted to highlight how respectful dressing in public spaces can be both graceful and stylish. While sitting for coffee with a friend, she noticed a passerby wearing something revealing. Instead of criticism, her response was to gently remind everyone of the value of cultural harmony. The embrace of her video extended far beyond her typical audience. Emiratis and long-time residents applauded her message. Some expressed heartfelt thanks, recognizing how rare and appreciated it is when expatriates advocate for local customs. In Dubai, where modernity meets tradition every day, malls like Dubai Mall are family-friendly spaces. Signs remind visitors to dress modestly, yet enforcement is rare. Still, the cultural sentiment remains: public places deserve a sense of decorum. May's approach wasn't about imposing rules. It was about celebration—of culture, of style, of the mutual respect that makes Dubai a peaceful, welcoming home for millions. She made it clear that Dubai's openness doesn't negate its traditions. There's a time for beachwear and a time for attire that reflects the shared values of a cosmopolitan, yet respectful, society. Her message, now viral, highlights a broader truth: meaningful change often starts with kindness and a sense of community. Through grace, humor, and authenticity, Jacquelyn May sparked more than a fashion debate—she reminded an entire city of the beauty of cultural mindfulness.

Dubai Mall's dress code goes viral: Influencer's call for modesty earns Sheikh Hamdan's approval

A TikTok video of a Dubai-based influencer promoting modest dressing at Dubai Mall has sparked widespread praise, cultural reflection, and even royal recognition. Jacquelyn May, a Canadian content creator living in the UAE, posted a short video on May 28 showing herself in a traditional Emirati Jalabiya, urging visitors to dress respectfully in public spaces. The video, which received over one million views and was liked by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has since gone viral, stirring conversations about etiquette, cultural awareness, and the values that define Dubai's public spaces. Jacquelyn May's inspiration behind the viral dress code video Jacquelyn May was prompted to create the video after seeing a woman wearing revealing clothing at Dubai Mall's new "The District" area. Shocked by the attention the woman drew, May decided to respond with a light-hearted, culturally sensitive message reminding visitors to respect local customs. 'We live in Dubai and must respect its culture and customs,' she explained, noting that her intent was not to shame but to promote awareness in a humorous and positive tone. A citywide conversation across Dubai The video struck a chord not just with fellow expatriates but with Emiratis and long-time residents. Many social media users expressed gratitude that someone outside the local community took initiative on a subject often left unspoken. Comments like 'As an Emirati: thank you,' and 'Respect is the least we can offer as guests' flooded her post. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dermatologista recomenda: simples truque elimina o fungo facilmente Acabe com o Fungo Undo With Dubai Mall welcoming over 111 million visitors in 2024, the conversation has found resonance across diverse communities. Sheikh Hamdan's subtle endorsement The moment that amplified the video's reach came when Sheikh Hamdan himself liked the post. Known for his support of social initiatives and civic values, the Crown Prince's simple gesture was seen by many as validation of the message. For May, it was a surprising and humbling moment. 'I was completely shocked,' she said. 'It means a lot.' Not about restrictions, it's about respect May clarified that she wasn't promoting strict rules or conservative dress across all settings. 'You can wear a bikini to Kite Beach, it doesn't matter. But there's a time and place for everything,' she explained. Dubai, while cosmopolitan and inclusive, still places value on respectful conduct in public family-oriented venues like malls, parks, and mosques. Fashion with cultural integrity Rehma Mirza, a Dubai-based modest fashion stylist and sustainability advocate, supported May's message. 'Culture and styling aren't separate, they shape how we feel and how we carry ourselves,' she said. Mirza believes aligning fashion with cultural awareness helps young people stay grounded, especially in a world of fast-changing trends. The broader impact What began as a one-minute video has now become a touchstone for respectful tourism, civic pride, and cultural coexistence. In a diverse city like Dubai, where modernity meets tradition, May's message serves as a reminder that style and respect can go hand in hand, and sometimes, even go viral.
