Why is WWE SummerSlam two nights in 2025?
WWE SummerSlam will take place THIS WEEKEND - and some huge matches are set to go down. Cody Rhodes will have his shot at revenge as he takes on John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a highly anticipated street fight. 2 2 Cena dethroned Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 and has since defended his title against Randy Orton and CM Punk. The American Nightmare earned his shot at a rematch by winning the King of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions in June. This weekend's huge card sees Jade Cargill challenge Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton at WWE 's showpiece summer event. CM Punk also features after he won the gauntlet match on Raw to become No1 contender for Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship. Elsewhere, Orton teams up with four-time Grammy-nominated artist Jelly Roll for a stunning tag-team bout against internet sensation Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. And the mega matches don't stop there with EIGHT more huge showdowns set to take place across the first-ever two-day SummerSlam. But why is the card split over two days this year? Why is WWE SummerSlam two nights in 2025? This weekend, the inaugural two-day SummerSlam will take place at the MetLife Stadium. The WWE have opted to take the event down the same route as they did with WrestleMania. Since 2020, the promotion has split its biggest show of the year, over two nights, and it has been a huge success. This has led WWE to make SummerSlam, their second biggest event, into a two-night show as well. Some reports state that WWE are also considering making Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank two-night shows in the future too. WWE 'Evolution 2025' Live Results: Will Rhea Ripley Dethrone Iyo Sky?
WWE 'Evolution 2025' Live Results: Will Rhea Ripley Dethrone Iyo Sky? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's time for WWE "Evolution 2025." Back in 2018, the first all-women's event in WWE history took place, and it was headlined by a WWE "Raw" Women's Championship match between Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella. "Evolution 2025" will also close with a world title match, as Iyo Sky looks to successfully defend the WWE Women's World Championship against Rhea Ripley. Advertisement That won't be the only title match on the card. WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton will defend her title against Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The winner will meet Jade Cargill at "SummerSlam 2025" in August. Speaking of Cargill, she will look to bring the storm to State Farm Arena in Atlanta when she collides with Naomi. "SmackDown" general manager Nick Aldis recently announced that Bianca Belair will serve as the special guest referee. The top female champion of the "NXT" brand will also put her title on the line. Jacy Jayne hopes to thwart the challenge of former TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace. At "NXT Great American Bash," Grace and Blake Monroe defeated Fatal Influence. Can Grace cap off perhaps the biggest weekend of her career with a title win? Advertisement "The Man" will also be in action. Becky Lynch is the current WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion, but her reign is in jeopardy. Lynch doesn't have to be pinned to lose the gold, as she will defend against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria in a triple threat match. There's also the battle royal match with major implications for "Clash in Paris." The winner will receive a guaranteed world title shot at the international PLE at the end of August. WWE "Evolution 2025" will begin at 7 p.m. ET. Athlon Sports will be providing live updates throughout the show. Naomi used newly customized MitB briefcase to get a match at Evolution
Next Sunday's Evolution event from WWE may be rushed, but the latest addition to its card is part of a feud that's been going on since last fall — and that many expect to continue for the next several months. It came about after Naomi showed off the newest modifications to her Money in the Bank briefcase on the July 4 SmackDown. She did so by using it to clock Jade Cargill from behind after the Queen of the Ring winner and Trish Stratus paid their respects to one another and — now that the WWE Hall of Famer is back for a shot at Tiffany Stratton's WWE Women's championship on July 13 in Atlanta — teased a possible match at SummerSlam. Shoutout to Naomi for that cackle. She's fully embraced her anime supervillain character, and it's been pretty great. Advertisement The trainer's room conversation SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis promised Cargill in the above clip led to a match against Naomi at WWE's second all-women PLE. The tweet and graphic don't say it, but they said it on the broadcast and write-up confirms that this will be No Holds Barred (essentially No DQ). While Naomi's gotten the drop on Jade outside the ring several times since taking her out last November, their clashes in the squared circle have mostly gone Cargill's way (the exception being the Triple Threat Naomi won to qualify for Money in the Bank — but she pinned Nia Jax in that, not the former AEW star). The stipulation fits the nature of the feud, and should open up the playbook for producers as they lay out the latest match in Cargill's big singles rollout. It's probably not the end of this feud though... especially since Jade has a title match at SummerSlam, and Naomi still has that briefcase. Here's the updated card for next Sunday's Evolution: Advertisement Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Trish Stratus for the WWE Women's championship IYO SKY (c) vs. Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women's World title Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Jordynne Grace for the NXT Women's championship Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. TBD vs. TBD in a 4-Way for the WWE Women's Tag Team titles Jade Cargill vs. Naomi in a No Holds Barred match Battle Royal for a championship match at Clash in Paris More from
