Erasmus calls time on mass Springbok experiments

MBOMBELA - South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus says mass Springbok experiments will end when he names a 36-man squad on Tuesday for two Rugby Championship Tests against Australia during August. "The bulk of that squad will be experienced players who are suited to the way we want to play while there will be room for one or two guys we want to experiment with," he told reporters. "We wanted to experiment against the Barbarians, Italy and Georgia in build-up matches, and the scorelines we achieved were pretty satisfying. "We used 46 players and gave first caps to a number of players. There are others we want to give opportunities to like Jaden and Jordan (Hendrikse), Quan (Horn) and Renzo (du Plessis). "But the Rugby Championship is definitely a step up, starting with the Wallabies in Johannesburg and Cape Town on successive Saturdays next month." South Africa are defending the Rugby Championship title and after Australia, play in New Zealand twice, then Argentina home and away, with the latter match switched from South America to London. In November, the record four-time Rugby World Cup winners face a daunting tour of Europe, including France in Paris and Ireland in Dublin. Erasmus, a key figure in different coaching roles in the 2019 and 2023 World Cup triumphs, also reflected on the build-up matches for the southern hemisphere championship. "We are fairly happy if you look over the four games," he said, recalling victories over the Barbarians (54-7), Italy (42-24 and 45-0) and, this weekend, Georgia (55-10). Each Test was preceded by many personnel changes to the matchday 23 -- 10 and 15 for the internationals against Italy and 16 for Georgia. "Georgia were physical and disruptive, but that is not an excuse for making so many errors. If we chop and change while building squad depth, you will have lost rhythm. "We found rhythm in the final 20 minutes and, while the scoreline was impressive, we can always do better." The coach said fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who missed four of five conversion attempts, injured his hip warming up for the match. "Sacha wanted to play, but that is no excuse for the way he kicked at the poles. However, he is certainly not one of the guys who made the most errors."

‘Love Island: USA' Bombshell Admits She Was a ‘Last-Minute' Addition: ‘They Flew Me Home'

'Love Island: USA' Bombshell Admits She Was a 'Last-Minute' Addition: 'They Flew Me Home' originally appeared on Parade. Believe it or not, Casa Amor cutie Jaden Duggar almost missed out on Love Island: USA season 7 entirely. Thanks to a last-minute switch, though, she finally got the chance to grace our television screens during the infamous Casa Amor twist, sharing the entire story with social media sensations Brianna "Bri" LaPaglia (AKA Brianna Chicken Fry) and Josh Richards on a recent episode of the BFFs Podcast. As mentioned, Jaden entered the villa during Casa Amor — alongside Clarke Carraway, Gracyn Blackmore, Coco Watson and Vanna Einerson — instantaneously forming quite the connection with OG islander Austin Shepard, despite advances from Nic Vansteenberghe as well. Remaining coupled up with Austin from the day she arrived (day 17) to the end of her Love Island: USA journey, Jaden was ultimately dumped from the villa on day 24, becoming a fan favorite despite having a rather short-lived stint on the show. Now that she is back in the United States, the 25-year-old corporate investigator is spilling all of the tea via various podcasts, beginning with a question asked by Bri on a recent episode of BFFs: " How long were you in Fiji before you entered for Casa? Were you there from the beginning of the show, like waiting in a hotel?" Surprisingly, Jaden was actually in consideration to be an OG islander... She gushed, "I actually went in the very beginning, and then they flew me home and said 'We might fly you back.' I wasn't sure that was actually going to happen or not, but then they did end up flying me back for Casa obviously, so I didn't have to wait in the hotel too long." To follow, Jaden admitted that she initially felt confident she would be one of the day one arrivals on Love Island: USA season 7, before adding that the show "very last minute" and wishy-washy from a production standpoint. "I feel like they changed their mind like every day leading up to the first day of filming too," she continued — how wild is that? While the process was rather unconventional, we could not be more pleased that Jaden graced our television screens this season, even though her journey was rather brief. Given how much fans adore her, could Jaden be a day one arrival on Love Island: USA season 8, though? While there is no way to know for sure — and there is tons of time to find out — it is safe to say that we will be connecting with the California cutie on Instagram (@jadenashleyd) for further updates regarding her life beyond the villa. Although she is no longer a part of the show, be sure to catch brand new episodes of Love Island: USA season 7 every day — except Wednesdays — via Peacock as well to see how the beloved competition series comes to a close. ‘Love Island: USA' Bombshell Reveals Scary Shaving Secret From Inside the Villa: 'Blood Bath'

'Love Island: USA' Bombshell Reveals Scary Shaving Secret From Inside the Villa: 'Blood Bath' originally appeared on Parade. Love Island: USA might look like paradise, but ousted islander Jaden Duggar just revealed that things were rather uncomfortable in the villa (for lack of a better phrase). Jaden had a short-lived stint on Love Island: USA season 7 — arriving on day 17 as a part of the infamous Casa Amor twist (alongside Clarke Carraway, Gracyn Blackmore, Coco Watson and Vanna Einerson) and leaving on day 24 — but that did not stop the 25-year-old corporate investigator from getting the inside scoop on all the villa secrets. For those who need a refresher, Jaden had quite the connection with OG islander Austin Shepard — despite advances from Nic Vansteenberghe — on Love Island: USA, finding herself in a couple with the 26-year-old pool technician from the beginning to the end of her journey. As mentioned previously, though, Jaden was ultimately dumped from the villa after a public vote on day 24 — poor thing! Now that she is back in the United States, the California cutie is spilling all the tea, most recently sitting down with Brianna "Bri" LaPaglia (AKA Brianna Chicken Fry) and Josh Richards for a recent episode of the BFFs Podcast. They talked about everything on said episode, from her unconventional arrival to her relationship with Austin... even razor burn! On the BFFs Podcast, Bri asked to kick off the razor burn conversation, "Did any of you guys have razor burn? I forgot to ask that," while Josh added, "Are they supplying you with good brand razors on the island, like in the villa, or is it like those like hotel razors that you get that just always cut you no matter what?" Jaden replied by stating, "I think all of us did at one point," before delving into the details of Josh's question. "I have my razor still. I left it at the hotel. It was a good one," she admitted, but when she entered the villa, the only razor that the Love Island: USA production team provided was "the one single blade" kind. "Oh my God. This is not gonna be good," she reflected, with Bri adding that it sounds like a "blood bath" for all of the women (and men) on the show — yikes! With razor burn aside, as Love Island: USA season 7 winds down, which couple do you think will secure the $100k prize? While it will not be Jaden and Austin, to see for yourself, catch brand new episodes of Love Island: USA season 7 every day — except Wednesdays — via Peacock. Will Smiths son Jaden turns 27, dad marks special day with throwback pics

Los Angeles [US], July 9 (ANI): Actor Will Smith's son Jaden Smith turned 27 on July 8, and to mark his special day, the proud father shared an adorable post giving fans a glimpse of throwback pictures. Taking to his Instagram account, Smith posted old photos and videos of Jaden. The first picture in the post showed Will holding a young Jaden in his arms and laughing, while also holding a microphone. It was followed by a short video of Jaden doing a backflip as a kid. The clip was edited with a scene from Jaden's 2010 film 'The Karate Kid,' where he performs a split. Will also included a recent photo from Capital's Summertime Ball 2025, where Jaden made a surprise appearance on stage. The show took place on Father's Day. At the time, Will had posted a video of the moment, writing, "Happy Father's Day to all the dads and dad figures out there!" Along with the birthday post, Will wrote, "Happy Bday, J-Diggy. Your tricks are getting better every year!" Will Smith, 56, shares Jaden and daughter Willow, 24, with his estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith. According to PEOPLE, in October 2024, during a panel at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, Will spoke about how his relationship with his kids has grown stronger as he works on himself. "As a parent, because I'm continuing to push, because I'm continuing to work on myself and I'm continuing to try to get my head around this grand mystery... Because I'm continuing to work, my children are gravitating toward me more," he said. "I'm noticing the struggles that I have, the difficulties that I overcome, the things that I learned," continued Will. "Because I am not stopping, my children are not moving away from me. My children are moving closer to me." (ANI)

Mother loses High Court challenge over murdered son's inquest

Jada Bailey challenged the March 2024 decision of Graeme Irvine, the senior coroner for east London, not to resume the inquest into the death of her son, Jaden Moodie, who was stabbed nine times after being knocked off a scooter in Leyton, east London, on January 8 2019. In December that year, then-19-year-old Ayoub Majdouline was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for the killing, with the coroner issuing a certificate the same month stating that Jaden's inquest was not to be resumed. Jaden Moodie was murdered in 2019 (Metropolitan Police/PA) A Serious Case Review (SCR) – in which Jaden was referred to as Child C – released in May 2020 and carried out by the Safeguarding Children's Board for Waltham Forest, found that criminal gangs had groomed him for at least a year before his death. It also found that there was a missed opportunity to protect the teenager from gangs when police found him in a property in Bournemouth, Dorset, with drugs and cash three months before he was murdered. Ms Bailey applied for the inquest to be reopened in 2023 but had her request rejected in March 2024, which she then sought to challenge at the High Court in a hearing held in February and June this year. But in a ruling on Monday, Mr Justice Swift dismissed the claim, upholding the coroner's finding that it was unlikely that their conclusion 'would go beyond the conclusions already reached'. An inquest into Jaden's death was formally opened 10 days after his death, but was adjourned in April 2019 ahead of Majdouline's trial. Ayoub Majdouline was jailed for the murder of 14-year-old Jaden Moodie (Met Police/PA) Deciding not to resume Jaden's inquest in March 2024, Mr Irvine said he found the SCR and other reviews had 'covered the likely scope of an inquest' and there was 'involvement of the next of kin to the extent necessary to safeguard their legitimate interests'. He said that 'any primary conclusion at inquest could not be inconsistent with the result of a criminal trial, and therefore 'unlawful killing' would be the most appropriate conclusion'. He added that 'other inquiries into Jaden's death have been able to make recommendations and require action', and that he was therefore 'not satisfied… that there is sufficient reason' to resume the inquest. Mr Justice Swift said in his ruling that Ms Bailey claimed that errors highlighted by the SCR 'ought to be investigated in further detail', and that the review 'failed the requirement for sufficient public scrutiny'. But the judge said that the SCR report 'is a highly impressive piece of work' that gave a 'thorough and thoughtful consideration of all relevant matters'. He continued that when 'considered in the round', the SCR report 'identifies and then scrutinises the acts and omissions of the relevant public authorities', and that Ms Bailey had the opportunity to be involved in it.
