Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest player to score a century in the IPL while playing for Rajasthan, opened the batting for India and immediately made an impact as he smashed 48 runs in just 19 deliveries as India comfortably chased down the 175 run target. They won by six wickets with 26 overs to spare. England had limped to 174 in 42.2 overs after Rocky Flintoff, son of England great Andrew Flintoff, crafted a patient 56 from 90 deliveries but his disciplined knock was quickly overshadowed by Suryavanshi's fireworks. In his debut season in the Indian Premier League, Suryavanshi has justified the hype around him by scoring 252 runs in seven matches, including a century which made him the youngest player to score a hundred in men's Twenty20 cricket. Suryavanshi only burgeoned his reputation as he relied on his IPL experience, smashing three fours and five sixes at Hove, where India were going at nearly 10 runs an over. He scored 21 runs in the sixth over from Jack Home when the Indian teenager cleared the ropes three times before he went after James Minto, with both bowlers immediately taken out of the attack. Suryavanshi eventually fell to spinner Ralphie Albert when he skied an effort to point, but he had laid the foundation for the chase before Abhigyan Kundu (45 not out) guided India over the line. - Reuters

'No food, water': Passengers stuck for 5 hours without AC on Air India Express flight in Dubai

Passengers onboard an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Jaipur were reportedly left stranded inside a grounded aircraft for over five hours without air-conditioning, food, or water, triggering anger and allegations of negligence. Flight IX-196, scheduled to depart from Dubai at 7.25pm on June 13, was unable to take off on time due to a technical snag. But instead of being allowed to deboard, more than 150 passengers were allegedly kept inside the aircraft as cabin temperatures soared. A video of the ordeal, posted by Indian dietician and social media influencer Arzoo Sethi, has since gone viral. In the video, visibly distressed passengers can be seen drenched in sweat, fanning themselves with safety cards and whatever they could find to stay cool. 'We were boarded at 7pm, but the flight's AC never came on. My three-year-old son was soaked in sweat. Not a single attendant came to help us. No one gave us water, let alone food,' Sethi said in her post. 'If the aircraft had a technical fault, they could've let us wait in the terminal. But they chose to lock us inside like this.' Describing the experience as 'horrific' and 'terrifying,' Sethi publicly tagged Air India Express, saying: 'This is a serious safety lapse. Please take responsibility for your passengers' well-being before it's too late.' Another passenger, Ravi Kumar, echoed her concerns. 'There was suffocation. The air-conditioning wasn't working. We kept pressing the call button, but no one came. It felt like torture,' he said. The flight finally took off at 12.44am, over five hours behind schedule and landed in Jaipur at 2.44am on June 14. Several passengers have since taken to social media to express their outrage and demand accountability from the airline. There has been no official response yet from Air India Express. A comment from the airline was not immediately available.

Nike has launched its first ever collaboration with an Indian fashion label, unveiling a range of patterned sportswear inspired by the country's ancient tie-dying techniques. Created alongside Delhi-based brand NorBlack NorWhite, the colorful footwear and apparel collection 'invites women into sport' while celebrating 'Indian culture and craftsmanship,' according to a Nike press release. The brands' new campaign, unveiled this week, features Indian cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma, alongside wrestler Anshu Malik and sprinter Priya Mohan. Accompanying images, shot by celebrated fashion photographer Bharat Sikka, show the female athletes posing in the historic city of Jaipur — including on its iconic stepwells. The move signals Nike's renewed ambitions for a market in which it has experienced mixed fortunes since entering, via a licensing deal, in 1995. After established a wholly owned subsidiary nine years later, the company gambled heavily on the country's most popular sport, cricket, beating rivals Adidas and Reebok to a 1.97-billion-rupee (then $44 million) deal to outfit the Indian national team in 2005. But Nike has since struggled to make commercial inroads, with local media reporting in 2019 that it had slashed the number of stores in India to 150, down from a peak of 350. The sportwear giant also appears to be pushing its women's apparel business, which has traditionally lagged behind its menswear. Several recent campaigns have spotlighted female athletes, with this year's Super Bowl ad featuring WNBA star Caitlin Clark and Olympic sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson. The collection with female-owned NorBlack NorWhite features a hoodie, tank top, T-shirt and sports bras, as well as a cross-body bag and several pairs of sneakers, including a variation of the popular Air Max range. The items' patterned motifs nod to 'bandhani,' a hand-dying technique — thought to date back 5,000 years — used on the subcontinent to produce vibrant, geometric shapes on woven cloth. It is a technique that NorBlack NorWhite has often incorporated into its designs. Founded by Canadian-born designers Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar, following their relocation to India in 2010, the label is known for combining streetwear with local craft traditions. In a statement, published via Nike's website, Kapadiya said the brand 'started with a deep admiration for the crafts practices of India and the people who bring them to life.' 'This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge that's rooted in Indian culture,' she added, 'and we hope each piece inspires women to draw into their own athletic mindset while navigating everyday life in India and around the world.'

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 12 (ANI): Undefeated Sreeja Akula propelled Jaipur Patriots to their first Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) semi-finals, following their 9-6 victory over PBG Pune Jaguars in the penultimate league stage game of Season 6 on Wednesday. With their win, Jaipur Patriots accrued a total of 41 points and climbed to the second spot in the table, three behind leaders Dempo Goa Challengers. Meanwhile, PBG Pune Jaguars were put out of the reckoning for the playoffs, with only one berth remaining ahead of tomorrow's final league stage match between U Mumba TT and Dabang Delhi TTC, as per a press release from UTT. Staged under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani, IndianOil UTT continues to grow as a premier professional league. All 23 ties, over 16 action-packed days, will take place at Ahmedabad's EKA Arena. Jeet Chandra kicked things off in thrilling fashion for Jaipur Patriots, blocking out Anirban Ghosh's counter-punching style to secure a 2-1 win. Dutchwoman Britt Eerland followed with a similar flair, taking the first two games before Pune's Reeth Rishya took the third on Golden Point. These tight wins gave Jaipur a critical buffer heading into the mixed doubles, where Jeet and Eerland responded to an early setback and a 0-1 deficit to take games two and three 11-6, 11-7. Their victory mathematically confirmed Jaipur's spot in the semi-finals, marking their first-ever qualification into UTT's final four. PBG Pune Jaguars' Alvaro Robles struck back with a composed 2-1 win over Yashansh Malik in the second men's singles, adding urgency to their playoff pursuit. However, Sreeja closed the tie in style and ended Pune's hopes of a semis berth; undefeated through all five league-stage matches, she dominated her clash with South Korea's Zion Lee 2-1, securing Jaipur's 9-6 victory. For their starring role in Jaipur's victory, Jeet was named the Indian Player of the Tie and Eerland the Foreign Player of the Tie.
