Encroachments removed in police presence
Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority conducted an eviction drive Wednesday near Vidhyadhar Nagar Sector 8 bus stand. "We removed a few sideway shops with tin sheds, tables, and chairs, and razed a few illegal permanent platforms and stairs encroaching the road," an enforcement wing official said. JDA deployed a huge team led by enforcement officials from five zones. A contingent from the local police station and additional force from Jaipur Commissionerate were pressed into action. Officials said the earlier encroachment drive was cancelled after locals protested. "There was not much resistance, and we managed to clear the encroachments," another official added. Alongside, JDA removed encroachments from govt land in Manpura. It also demolished an illegal under-construction colony in Amber near the Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium. tnn

Now, residents can complete land mutation online from JDA's portal
Jaipur: In a major technological leap to curb land-related fraud, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) successfully integrated the 90A Portal, the e-Registration Portal, and the e-Dharti Portal. The integration helps residents complete the process of land mutation entirely online. Soon, JDA will roll out the e-mutation services on its portal. "This step has been taken with property management and transparency in mind. People will get relief from the service of auto mutation through the 90A API on the e-Dharti portal," said JDA Commissioner Anandhi. Officials said to facilitate this service, JDA has integrated its portal with the state govt's e-Dharti portal, 90A Portal, and the e-Registration Portal. This means all details related to a particular piece of land under JDA's jurisdiction are now available on the JDA's portal. "Now, under the present system integrated on the JDA's portal, residents and landowners can transfer land ownership immediately after the conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural use under Section 90A. Previously, after obtaining a 90A order, applicants often waited for land mutation for years, during which time the land technically remained under the name of the former owner, leading to a heightened risk of fraudulent sales," an official added. The new system ensures that once JDA issues the 90A order online, the application for mutation is automatically generated and sent to the respective tehsildar. After the tehsildar completes a brief verification process and inputs the required details, the mutation is immediately recorded in JDA's name on both the e-Dharti and Apna Khata portals. "If the tehsildars and other officials don't raise any objections, e-mutation shall be completed within a month. Another advantage of this system is that for every official involved in the process, there's a specific timeline. No official can sit on the application for days and must accept the application or raise objections," added the official . ‘No option but to use poor materials': Rs 123 crore spent on Jaipur roads damaged in 2 days of rain; engineers blame fund crunch, unplanned cuts, drainage flaws
JAIPUR: Over Rs 123 crore spent by Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and the two civic bodies—Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Greater and Heritage—on repairing city roads in the past five months has gone to waste with just two days of rainfall. Engineers stated that the major causes of potholes and craters, even on newly constructed or renovated city roads, include poor quality materials due to fund shortages, unplanned road cut permissions by the zonal DC office, and lack of adequate drainage systems alongside roads. Speaking to TOI, a JDA contractor said although JDA determines the govt-approved rate while floating the tenders, the actual payment is far less than the tender value. He claimed that for several reasons, they are compelled to spend only around 40% to 60% of the rate mentioned in the tender. "We have no other option than to use less or poor quality materials. On June 13, Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department issued a revised circular for the rate chart for the restoration of road cuts applicable for the entire state. Already, the 'middlemen' have started negotiation over the higher tariff," the contractor stated on conditions of anonymity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 5 Dividend Stocks with Growth Potential in 2025 Seeking Alpha Read More Undo JDA engineers claimed that another major problem is the unplanned way of giving permits for road cuts. If a road cut is not restored before the monsoon season, water accumulated on the dug section would weaken the surface of the entire road and may create potholes or craters on the adjacent surfaces. The deadline of June 15, after which a road cut is not permitted till Aug, has been declared "irrational" by a section of engineers, as it takes at least three months to allocate funds, float tenders, and issue a work order to restore even a mere 100-metre stretch. "One should understand road cuts restorations are not included in the list of warranties under the defect liabilities. We follow the same procedure for restorations that we follow for the construction of a new road. Ideally, the govt should bring down this restriction from April till Aug, so that we get time to restore the road cuts before monsoon sets in. But which agency would like to work for only seven months in a year?" a senior engineer questioned. JDA commissioner Anandhi was not available for her views, while the two engineer directors of JDA refused to comment.

JDA to construct 71 sector roads
Jaipur: With city roads deteriorating due to potholes, craters, and uneven surfaces, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has decided to construct 71 sector roads under its annual road maintenance programme. Though these roads were part of the Master Plan 2025, the JDA had been unable to execute them earlier due to various delays. Now, a portion of the road maintenance fund will be allocated for their construction. "We have four categories of sector roads – A, B, C, and D. Out of 226 proposed A and B category roads in the Master Plan, 71 will now be developed. The civic body has already granted administrative and financial approval of Rs 454 crore for the project," a senior JDA official said. During the previous Congress govt, sector roads were prioritised by category, with 'A' being the most critical. A JDA engineer added that these 71 roads were selected based on future traffic needs and planned settlements along both sides. "Several rounds of discussions were held between zone deputy commissioners and zonal engineers to finalise the list of sector roads. We also considered the availability of land and the number of encroachments to be removed before selection. Hopefully, construction will proceed smoothly," said a JDA engineer. Officials confirmed that out of the 71 sector roads, six will be developed near Niwaru Road and Govindpura, 13 near Muralipura, nine in Mansarovar and Bhankrota, two near Delhi and Agra Roads, and 16 in the Vartika area. "Tenders have already been floated for some of them," an official added.
