What cornerbacks are available for Raiders?
Cornerback has been considered a need for the Las Vegas Raiders throughput this offseason and there have been indications the team is still interested in adding at the position. They had a visit with Shaquill Griffin this month. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks (he played for new Raiders coach in Seattle to start his career). It is not known if the Raiders had no interest in Griffin after his visit. They were also linked to Jaire Alexander when he was released by the Green Bay Packers this month, but he quickly signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Advertisement There are still some solid options available for the Raiders in free agency if they want to add a cornerback. They include Rasul Douglas, Mike Hilton, Asante Samuel Jr. (who has dealing with a neck injury that has affected his timeline in signing somewhere), Stephon Gilmore, and Kendall Fuller among others. The Miami Dolphins are also expected to trade Jalen Ramsey and the Raiders have been rumored to have interest. Las Vegas has signed Erick Stokes in free agency and drafted Darien Porter n the third round. They are the current favorites to start on the outside during the regular season. They also have Darnay Holmes, Jakorian Bennett, Decamerion Richardson, Sam Webb and Ky Blu Kelly. Every Packers player to earn elite grade on defense since 2006
Pro Football Focus has graded every game in the NFL dating all the way back to the 2006 season, providing almost 20 years of data on every team, including the Green Bay Packers. At PFF, an "elite" grade for a season is anything 90.0 or better, and the Packers have enjoyed several elite or near elite seasons by players on defense over the past 20 seasons. Unlike the offensive side, where the majority of the elite seasons came from only a handful of players, the Packers defense has a smattering of players who have been elite during recent seasons. Here are the highest graded individual seasons by a Packers player on defense since 2006: Elite seasons (stats include playoffs) 2020: CB Jaire Alexander (90.7): Alexander was the highest-graded cornerback in football, and he earned the highest coverage grade among cornerbacks by almost two full grade points. On 76 targets into his coverage, Alexander allowed only 37 catches and 353 yards. Lockdown. 2018: DL Kenny Clark (90.2): Clark produced 46 pressures, three batted passes and 35 stops against the run during a dominant two-way season in which he graded at 88.0 or better against the pass and run. 2015: DL Mike Daniels (90.2): Daniels created a career-high 62 pressures while also producing 35 stops against the run. He was one of only seven defensive tackles to earn an elite grade during the 2015 season. 2012: CB Casey Hayward (91.5): Hayward intercepted six passes, didn't allow a touchdown pass into his coverage or commit a penalty and finished the season giving up a passer rating of only 30.4. He missed only four tackles and was a plus run defender from the slot. Only three corners had a higher grade in 2012: Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman and Charles Tillman. 2012: CB Sam Shields (90.2): Shields allowed only 26 total catches while also intercepting five passes. His coverage grade ranked sixth among all cornerbacks in 2012. 2009: DB Charles Woodson (91.7): The NFL's Defensive Player of the Year produced 37 stops against the run, five forced fumbles and nine interceptions during one of the best seasons ever by a cornerback. He gave up seven touchdown passes and had nine penalties, bringing down his overall grade slightly. 2009: LB Desmond Bishop (90.4): Only Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis had better grades among linebackers in 2009. Bishop became a full-time player in 2010 and was a difference-maker for the Super Bowl champs. Every Packers player on offense to earn elite PFF grade since 2006 Near elite seasons

Ravens' Most Promising Building Block Revealed
Ravens' Most Promising Building Block Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. General manager Eric DeCosta and the Baltimore Ravens feel fortunate to even have Nate Wiggins on the team. Last offseason during the 2024 NFL Draft, DeCosta couldn't believe that Wiggins fell to the late first round so they could take him with the No. 30 overall pick. Advertisement With their eye on Wiggins, DeCosta said he turned down eight offers from other teams to trade back because he knew they wanted the former Clemson corner. Wiggins didn't disappoint last season, posting 33 tackles with 25 solo while adding one interception for a touchdown and a forced fumble across 15 appearances and six starts. Now, Bleacher Report believes Wiggins is the Ravens' "most promising building block entering 2025." "The Baltimore Ravens signed two-time Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander, though that shouldn't impact Nate Wiggins' playing time when the defense lines up in nickel alignment with three cornerbacks," B/R wrote. "Marlon Humphrey and Alexander have experience in the slot. Wiggins should have opportunities to make plays on the boundary as he did in his rookie campaign. While on the field for 68 percent of the defensive snaps last season, Wiggins recorded 13 pass breakups and an interception while allowing a 50 percent completion rate and a 66.7 passer rating in coverage. Advertisement "With Alexander's recent injury history, missing 10 games in back-to-back seasons, don't be surprised if Wiggins is the Ravens' second-most reliable cornerback this year. Wiggins and Humphrey are a top-two cornerback duo." At the time he was drafted, DeCosta said he thinks Wiggins can eventually be a true shutdown corner. "In my opinion, [he's] the best cover corner in the draft. Highly athletic, fantastic feet," DeCosta said via ESPN. "[He's] a guy that can [become] a true shutdown-type corner." NFL Analyst Predicts Big Season for Ravens' Jaire Alexander
NFL Analyst Predicts Big Season for Ravens' Jaire Alexander originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Baltimore Ravens are in full "win now" mode after signing veteran free agent defensive back Jaire Alexander this offseason. Advertisement The deal is for one year and $4 million, all guaranteed. Alexander, who signed a four-year, $84 million contract with the Green Bay Packers in 2022, is just 28 and still has a lot of football left in him. His departure from the Packers wasn't performance-related, but due to a hefty $25 million cap hit for 2025. That might be part of the reason why analyst Bucky Brooks predicted that Alexander could be a candidate for next year's NFL Comeback Player of the Year award. "A two-time Pro Bowler in seven seasons with the Packers before being released this offseason, perhaps a change of scenery will help Alexander shake the injury bug and rediscover what once made him the highest-paid corner in the league," Brooks wrote. Advertisement The former Louisville Cardinals defender was dealing with injuries recently. Over the past two years, Alexander has played in just 14 total regular-season games due to numerous injuries, including groin, back, shoulder and knee issues. He missed the Packers' final eight games of 2024, including their wild-card round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. When he's been healthy, Alexander has been one of the best at his position. Across seven playoff games, he has posted 28 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups. That's the Jaire Alexander the Ravens are looking forward to having.
