Tremendous teamwork as football festival at Jak's former school in West Lothian rounds off term
The teenager died in 2015 following a fight with delta T-cell lymphoma Young people at a high school in West Lothian rounded off the school year with a football festival which raised £3,000 for a local charity – the legacy of a courageous former pupil. For each of the last three years pupils at West Calder High have finished the term with a kickabout and a fantastic day, all for a great cause – the Team Jak Foundation. Former pupil Jak Trueman was just 15 years old when he died in 2015 following a fight with delta T-cell lymphoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Jak, from Mid Calder, passed away less than two weeks after being told by his cancer was untreatable. However, he was determined to help others who may find themselves in a similar situation. The teenager had a vision to provide a place for young people to gather where they could listen to music, relax and chat, and raised over £100,000. Days before his death Team Jak was launched, it was followed by Jak's Den, providing a lifeline service to hundreds of young people across Scotland undergoing chemotherapy and other gruelling treatments. The Jak Trueman Football Festival at Jak's school allows every young person in attendance to enjoy a fun day with football, a BBQ, soak the teacher, stalls serving up all sorts, tuck shop and much more. Jak's mum Allison Barr, who is CE at Team Jak Foundation, said: 'This year the S4 pupils at the school planned all of the stalls as part of their Creative Industries qualification and what a fantastic job they done! 'Beautiful hand made bracelets, TJ yellow and blue ribbons, fantastic medals for the winning teams and the Jak Trueman Challenge Cup was awarded to the team that showed the best values throughout the day, alongside the Jack Lees Cup in honour of another awesome West Calder High School pupil who was sadly lost just over a year ago. 'Massive thanks must also go to Elaine Sharp Depute and her whole team of staff and helpers. 'Elaine helped Jak with his Maths online while he was ill so this holds a very special place in her heart, and it means the world how much she continues to support Team Jak. 'A massive well done and thank you to all the fabulous pupils, staff and parents who were involved in making this day so special and the local businesses who also donated money and food drinks to help with fundraising. 'We are delighted to announce a whopping £3000 was raised for Team Jak. Congratulations West Calder High School, we are so proud of each and every one of you.'

Man attempts 'belly buster' challenge in Benidorm and seriously regrets it
A British man on a lads holiday to Benidorm decided to try out the famous 'belly buster' breakfast challenge offered by British bar Uncle Ron's - but he soon came to regret his decision Many people will think of holidays as the perfect opportunity to indulge in whatever foods they'd fancy, especially if you're staying in an all-inclusive resort. Whether it's trying new and exotic foods native to where you're currently on holiday or sticking with British classics, food on holiday will always taste better than at home. Because of this, one Brit decided to attempt the famous belly buster challenge of eating a huge portion of a fry up while on a recent lads holiday to Bendiorm. However, it didn't go as well as he'd hope as he was soon mocked over his 'pathetic' attempt. Jak Aitcheson, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, looked happy and relaxed before tucking into it in Brit bar Uncle Ron's in the Spanish resort on Sunday (6 Jul). The belly buster challenge fry up, which has a success rate of just 3%, consists of four sausages, four slices of bacon, four fried eggs and four hash browns. It also comes with four pieces of toast and fried bread, six tomatoes, half a large tin of baked beans and 10 mushrooms. The 2,760-calorie breakfast costs just €9 (£7.70) but has to be eaten in 20 minutes in order for someone to say they've successfully beaten the challenge, the challenge's rules reads. Jak was soon slumping his chair, looking defeated and dejected afterwards, as he accepted his defeat, with his plate looking almost just as full as it had at the start of the challenge. Photos of Jak were soon shared onto Uncle Ron's social media page, where several fellow Brits soon took to the comment section to point out that he'd barely made a dent in his breakfast meal. 'What did he eat? The butter off the toast?' one user asked, while another person said: 'Jak, pathetic. Stick to your warm milk and a rusk from now on.' A third user wrote: 'Bet that third bean pushed him over the edge.' Meanwhile, another person asked: 'Did he just shuffle some beans around?' 'He finished with more food than he started with," another person jokingly said. A sixth person added: 'I've seen seagulls dive-bombing for chips that take larger amounts.' Thankfully for Jak, at least one person rushed to his defence, as they wrote: "In all fairness, the fried bread, chips, and huge amount of toast would stop most in their tracks." Jak seemed to take the ribbing in good spirits. He went on to say that he'd nodded off mid-challenge and that his friend Dean had sneakily piled his leftovers onto his plate. 'I've still not been to sleep since Wednesday night, lost about two stone, and I'm famous on the strip for eating three beans," Jak said.
