Longhorns recruiting prospect cuts his list down to three teams

NEWS: Elite 2026 EDGE Jake Kreul is down to Oklahoma, Ole Miss, & Texas, he tells me for @rivalsThe 6'3 235 EDGE from Orlando, FL is one of the Top Pass Rushers in the '26 ClassWhere Should He Go? ⬇️ One of the Longhorns' top recruiting targets in the 2026 class provided a reason for optimism earlier this week. On Tuesday, talented edge rusher Jake Kreul cut his list to three programs. The programs that are still in the mix are Texas, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. He would provide a massive boost to any of those defenses. Currently, the Orlando native is ranked as the eighth-best prospect in his class by 247Sports. They also rank Kreul as the seventh-best player from Florida and the 60th-best in the nation. Due to his ability to make life difficult for offensive coordinators, he has drawn interest from some of the best programs in the country. Earlier this summer, the IMG Academy product took official visits to every school still in the running. He also took trips to Colorado, Florida, and Ohio State. For the Longhorns, It is a good sign that they are still in the running. If they can land Kreul, then an already talented 2026 class would see it's ranking rise. During his junior season, Kreul recorded 39 tackles, including 12 for a loss. He also added six sacks to his resume and thrived in a very competitive conference. Due to his play, Kruel got to shine on the national stage when he participated in the Armour All-American Game. If he can meet expectations in college, then that will not be the only showcase he will have been able to say he played in. Over the last few weeks, Oklahoma has been seen as the favorite when it comes to Kreul. The Sooners have built an impressive 2026 class, but the Longhorns have been a staple in the college playoffs the last few years. They will be a team to watch as Kreul weighs his best option. When it comes to Kreul, there is a lot to like about his game, and the Longhorns are hoping he picks Texas as the place to start his college career.

Oklahoma Sooners make top 3 for elite defensive end Jake Kreul

The Oklahoma Sooners remain in the mix for one of the best defensive ends in the 2026 recruiting class as Jake Kreul narrowed his recruitment to three schools on Tuesday night. Kreul, a five-star prospect according to ESPN, is down to the Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, and the Texas Longhorns. He has offers from 36 Power Four schools and has the chance to finish the cycle as a consensus five-star prospect. Based on a prediction from On3/Rivals national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong back on June 24, the Sooners appear to be the favorites to land a commitment from Kreul. Cody Carpentier, who covers Texas recruiting for Rivals, also predicted Oklahoma to be the landing spot back in June. The Sooners and defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis has done a great job in OU's recruitment of Kreul, putting them in a great spot to land the elite defensive end prospect. Now that it appears they just have Ole Miss and Texas to contend with, all the Sooners need to do is close out the recruitment with a commitment and get him signed during the early signing period. Could the Oklahoma Sooners be getting a massive recruiting win for elite blue-chip talent sooner than later?

Could the Oklahoma Sooners be getting a massive recruiting win for elite blue-chip talent sooner than later? originally appeared on A to Z Sports. The Oklahoma Sooners have already scored a couple of huge recruiting wins in the class of 2026, raking in elite quarterback Bowe Bentley alongside blue-chip wide receiver Daniel Odom, offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt, linebacker Jakore Smith, IOL Noah Best, EDGE Daniel Norman, and running back DeZephen Walker. Advertisement They have had one particular player who has been their highest priority for months: pass rusher Jake Kreul, the 37th-overall player in the class and a top-ten pass rusher. The Sooners have hosted Kreul several times and have built a strong relationship with him throughout the process. Despite that, it was originally thought that Kreul would take his time deciding his commitment, and might even wait until well into the season to make his choice. However, that timeline might be moving up here quickly - in favor of the Sooners. According to On3's Sam Spiegelman, Kreul could be making his choice by the end of the summer. "Jake Kreul has been working toward locking in a college commitment during his senior season at IMG Academy. Oklahoma, Texas, Ole Miss and Florida have been swinging away at the blue-chip EDGE — and we peg the Sooners as the team to beat after a series of official visits. We're also hearing that Kruel may not be long for a decision — and could have it in place before the end of the summer. We really like where Oklahoma stands here." If Kreul does commit to the Sooners, like Spiegelman and many others expect, he would be one of Oklahoma's biggest recruiting wins of the last several years. Kreul would be the Sooners' highest-ranked recruit of the class as a borderline five-star prospect. Advertisement His commitment would vault Oklahoma from 41st in 247Sports' rankings all the way up to 25th just by himself. Kreul has been a high-priority target for the Sooners in this whole process. Now is the time to close this up and full send the house to pull him into Oklahoma's growing class of 2026. What's next for the Oklahoma Sooners Recruiting Class of 2026? Positions to watch for Sooners' next commit

What's next for the Oklahoma Sooners Recruiting Class of 2026? Positions to watch for Sooners' next commit originally appeared on A to Z Sports. The Oklahoma Sooners have rebuilt their 2026 recruiting class over the summer months, pulling in elite quarterback Bowe Bentley as the crown jewel of the class. They've built up some strong surrounding players around him in four-stars WR Daniel Odom, OT Deacon Schmitt, IOL Noah Best, LB Jakore Smith, EDGE Daniel Norman, and RB DeZephen Walker. Advertisement With the exception of Odom, all of their elite blue-chip recruits committed in May or June. The staff has attacked the 2026 class with gusto in an effort to rebuild their talent pool, and now more than ever, they are hot on the trail. What comes next for the Sooners? Who are their remaining top targets? EDGE Jake Kreul Kreul is Oklahoma's top remaining target on the board, as the elite Florida pass rusher represents a player they believe can be the future of their defense. Recently, On3's Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Kreul in favor of the Sooners. With no commitment date set, however, many are cautious about getting too excited. Advertisement The Sooners are battling Ohio State, Florida, and Texas for Kreul's commitment. ATH Davian Groce This is going to be a tough battle, as more and more schools are ramping up interest for one of the top wide receivers out of Texas. It seems like it's primarily between Baylor and Oklahoma, but Florida and Texas A&M have also gotten heavily involved in his process as well. After missing out on receivers Dallas Dickerson and Jayden Petit earlier this week, the Sooners need a win at wide receiver. WR/TE Zachery Turner Much like Groce, this is a true 50/50 battle between the Sooners and another school. This time, it's between Oklahoma and in-state school Miami. Turner is being recruited as a receiver by the Sooners, and much like Groce, it's a battle they need to win. ATH Braeden Presley Nobody has any idea just where Presley will choose on his upcoming commitment date. The Sooners have hosted Presley on a few visits and recently expressed an interest in him at cornerback instead of receiver like his brothers, who both played for Oklahoma State. There's some skepticism on Oklahoma's chances, given his family's history, but the Sooners are definitely involved. TE Tyler Ruxer One of two tight ends the Sooners have seriously targeted in the 2026 class, Ruxer has grown his relationship with this staff over the last couple of months, and there is plenty of buzz about him joining Oklahoma's class. Ruxer, On3's top player out of Indiana, would join Ryder Mix as Oklahoma's two tight ends in this cycle. ATH Jacob Eberhart Eberhart's name has seemingly come out of nowhere for Oklahoma's recruiting, but he has since skyrocketed up and his name has drawn plenty of buzz as Oklahoma's next potential commitment. The do-it-all athlete is primarily being recruited as a safety for the Sooners, and recently set his commitment date for mid-July shortly after his visit to Oklahoma. Upcoming commitment dates to note Braeden Presley -July 3rd Tyler Ruxer -July 7th Zachery Turner -July 12th Jacob Eberhart-July 12th Advertisement Related: Oklahoma Sooners beat out former Big 12 rival for top in-state recruit who will be key part of the future of the program View the original article to see embedded media. Oklahoma Sooners projected to land elite defensive end prospect Jake Kreul

The Oklahoma Sooners have been making noise on the recruiting trail over the last several week, picking up several commitments over the last few days in the 2026 recruiting class. On Monday they added three-star linebacker Beau Jandreau and four-star defensive end Daniel Norman. And now they may be close to locking up another talented defender. On Tuesday evening, On3's vice president of recruiting and transfer portal Steve Wiltfong issued a prediction favoring the Sooners for defensive end Jake Kreul. Kreul is considered a five-star player in the 2026 cycle by ESPN and a four-star prospect by Rivals, On3, and 247Sports. Kreul was just in town for an official visit during the ChampU BBQ and it looks like the Sooners have moved the needle. He's a consensus top 100 player in the class and a top-15 EDGE in the cycle. Also notable was a prediction flip on Tuesday night from Orangebloods and Rivals recruiting analyst Cody Carpentier, who switched his projection from Florida to the Oklahoma Sooners. Kreul is one of the elite prospects in the 2026 cycle, showing a technical refinement to his game. Locked On's recruiting analyst Brian Smith called Kreul "the most technically advanced high school edge rusher" he's ever seen. The IMG Academy has an elite offer sheet from a total of 36 Power Four schools, which includes Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Florida, and many more. And you can see why. He's an excellent pass rusher with a motor to match. He can win with speed, power, or by utilizing his technique to get by offensive tackles. Though Oklahoma still has to lock up his commitment and get him signed as the elite recruiting programs continue to push for Kreul's services, the Sooners have put themselves in a position to land a day-one contributor in Jake Kreul.
