WITCHBOARD Trailer Conjures Nightmarish Supernatural Occult Mayhem — GeekTyrant
Chuck Russell, the director behind The Blob and A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors , is summoning some serious occult energy in his return to horror with Witchboard , a reimagining of the 1986 cult favorite. The first trailer has dropped, and it's packed with eerie imagery, ritualistic vibes, and a whole lot of supernatural mayhem. Set in modern-day New Orleans, Witchboard follows a young couple who unwittingly unlock something ancient and malevolent after discovering a cursed pendulum board in their newly-renovated French Quarter café. What begins as a dream venture quickly spirals into a nightmare of possession, temptation, and full-blown occult terror. Madison Iseman ( I Know What You Did Last Summer ) leads the cast as Emily, alongside Aaron Dominguez ( Only Murders in the Building ), Antonia Desplat ( Shantaram ), and Charlie Tahan ( Ozark ). Also along for the ride is Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower. Speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Russell said: 'I wanted to get back to the horror genre. I've been keeping an eye out for that over the course of my career, and I wanted to do something even scarier and more imaginative. I wanted to top my other two horror films,' he said. He added: 'I put everything I hadn't tried into this film. I hope that fans of my work will recognize my touch. But we have dreams; we have deadly hallucinations. We have body swaps; we have literal time travel. It's fun in that regard, but number one is to scare the hell out of people, and I think we've done that, too.' The trailer and poster showcase something far more visceral and stylized than the original Witchboard . There's a dreamlike terror to the imagery, flashes of fire-lit rituals, warped bodies, and distorted realities that suggest Witchboard is tapping into something deeply unhinged. It's full-blown metaphysical horror. The film is set to hit theaters August 15, 2025,

Vecna on Vecna: How two actors inhabit the big bad of ‘Stranger Things'
Jamie Campbell Bower was smoking outside London's Phoenix Theatre in late 2023, during intermission of the stage play 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow,' when director Stephen Daldry spotted the English actor and made an unconventional ask: Could Bower — who was there as a uniquely invested theatergoer — step onstage during the curtain call and take a bow?

Stranger Things cast reunite for thrilling Broadway debut
The Upside Down has landed on Broadway, and the stars of Netflix's Stranger Things turned out in force to celebrate. On 22 April, the much-anticipated play Stranger Things: The First Shadow officially opened at the Marquis Theatre in New York City . The red carpet saw familiar faces such as Jamie Campbell Bower, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Noah Schnapp, and Matthew Modine. The Duffer Brothers, who are the masterminds behind the original series, were also spotted on the red carpet. They posed grinning alongside executive producer Shawn Levy and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, according to the New York Post. The First Shadow is a prequel, set in 1959 Hawkins, Indiana, and dives deep into the origins of Henry Creel. Henry is the boy who grows up to be the terrifying Vecna. As the story unfolds, Henry's struggle with his dark powers takes centre stage. Audiences will also get to meet younger versions of beloved characters like Joyce, Hopper, and Bob. Critics have called the play 'a game-changing experience' and praised its jaw-dropping effects. The Stranger Things production, directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, features a cast of 34 and promises to 'turn Broadway upside down' with its suspense and heart-pounding drama. On opening night, the energy was electric, and actress Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, shared, 'It's surreal seeing our world come alive on stage. Noah Schnapp, who plays fan favourite Will Byers on the Netflix show, declared, 'This play is a must-watch for anyone who's followed our journey. You'll see Hawkins in a whole new light'. The event also saw touching moments between the TV and stage casts. Matthew Modine, who plays Dr Brenner, was seen chatting with Alex Breaux, his Broadway counterpart, while Jamie Campbell Bower embraced Louis McCartney. McCartney is the young actor portraying Henry Creel. 'Louis is an astonishing actor, and we are unbelievably proud of the incredible life he has breathed into the role,' said director Stephen Daldry. Tickets for the show start at $86, which converts to roughly R1617. Any South Africans planning a trip to New York, give the show a try, it's theatre experience not to be missed.
