Nitish architect of devpt in state: Min
Patna: Rural works department (RWD) minister Ashok Chaudhary on Sunday said Bihar has witnessed comprehensive progress over the past 20 years under CM Nitish Kumar's "model of holistic development," which, he claimed, has transformed all key sectors and accelerated the state's growth. Speaking at the Jan Samvad programme in Belhar (Banka district) and Tarapur (Munger) on Sunday, and earlier at Jamui and Chakai on Saturday, Chaudhary highlighted a range of initiatives implemented under the RWD to improve rural infrastructure. These included schemes for road and bridge construction, such as the CM's Road Connectivity Scheme targeting tolas (rural hamlets), and the CM Bridge Construction Scheme. Describing Nitish as "efficient, sensitive, and visionary," Chaudhary called him the "sootradhar (originator) of holistic development" in Bihar. At events in Belhar and Tarapur, he said, "The aim of the RWD schemes launched by the CM is not merely to increase pace and momentum, but to take the light of development to every village and tola to ensure inclusive and integrated growth." Chaudhary stressed that the visible development across the state is not mere statistical manipulation. "It is the result of his people-oriented vision, administrative commitment, and sound financial management. His development model reaches the last person in society," he said at Belhar. At Tarapur, he emphasised that for the first time since independence, an arrangement has been made for the procurement of pulses and oilseeds from farmers at minimum support prices (MSP). "This recognises the hard work of farmers and is a step towards increasing their income," he said. The minister also cited key economic indicators, including a 10% average growth rate, a significantly expanded state budget, and increased budgetary allocations over the past two decades, contrasting them with figures from before 2005.

Citizens pour out civic woes during MLC Joshi's Jan Samvad
Nagpur: Frustrated over lack of replies and inaction by authorities, residents of Laxmi Nagar voiced their grievances during a Jan Samvad programme held by MLC and former mayor Sandeep Joshi on Wednesday evening. Key issues raised during the programme included frequent waterlogging due to elevated cement roads, poor sanitation, and irregular road sweeping. The residents also pointed out problems of hooliganism, intoxicated individuals loitering near residential areas, and disturbances caused by a cloud kitchen operating beyond permissible hours. Traffic concerns were prominent, so were complaints about morning bike racing, rising accidents, and lack of pedestrian space at Laxmi Nagar Square. Citizens also sought replacing outdated traffic signals with newly installed AI-driven ones to streamline heavy commuter flow. During the Jan Samvad, water supply woes and malfunctioning of Orange City Water (OCW) mobile app for the last six months and also Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) digital services being defunct were highlighted by the residents. Responding to the concerns, Joshi said the complaints about rising hooliganism were a 'societal decay', which couldn't be solved easily. He promised to look into the complaints regarding NMC and OCW apps. He also assured to work on traffic-related and sanitation issues and urged citizens to collaborate in solving civic challenges. BJP leaders Vinod Shinde, Gajanan Nishitkar were also present at the event.

Sanitation Collapsing Despite 7,000 Workers, MLC Joshi Slams NMC
Nagpur: Amid escalating public outrage over the city's collapsing sanitation system, ex-mayor and current BJP MLC Sandip Joshi on Friday launched a blistering attack on Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for its failure to maintain basic cleanliness despite nearly 7,000 sanitary workers on its payroll. In a memorandum submitted to municipal commissioner and administrator Abhijeet Chaudhari, Joshi questioned whether NMC was 'operating on divine mercy', as he highlighted the deluge of complaints about neglected garbage and clogged drains. "Heaps of waste, overflowing drains, and absent officials have become the new normal. Is there not a single officer paying attention to citizens?" he demanded. During recent 'Jan Samvad' sessions in areas including Ramkrishna Nagar, Dhantoli, Jagruti Colony, Bajaj Nagar, and Surendra Nagar, MLC Joshi met countless residents who reported that cleaning outside their homes did not occur for 8 to 15 days. In some cases, citizens showed him mounds of garbage and overgrown vegetation. "People are so enraged they are forcing elected representatives to witness the filth firsthand," he remarked. Joshi accused several sanitation workers of subcontracting their duties to private individuals and engaging in personal work during working hours. "Responsibility has vanished from zonal health officers down to ground staff," he asserted, insisting that supervisors (jamadars) were turning a blind eye. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo He criticised NMC for halting drain-clearing operations in older areas and, instead, focusing solely on submitting proposals for new lines. "With the monsoon imminent, such tokenism is dangerous and unacceptable," he said. Highlighting the human resource strength — with 3,800 permanent and 4,000 contractual workers — Joshi asked, "If the city remains filthy with such manpower, where is the system's accountability?" He urged additional commissioners to lead field inspections, review attendance registers, verify actual beat coverage, and penalise supervisors. Residents across Ramkrishna Nagar, Deo Nagar, Dhantoli, Ramdaspeth, Friends Colony, Aakar Nagar, and other neighbourhoods are growing increasingly frustrated. MLC Joshi warned that if no decisive action is taken immediately, public disillusionment could boil over into unrest. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . CPI(ML) sets sights on 40-50 seats, plans statewide campaign
Patna: CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said on Tuesday that the party is preparing to contest 40-45 assembly seats in the upcoming Bihar elections scheduled for Oct-Nov. Addressing mediapersons, Bhattacharya said discussions within the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) regarding the alliance's agenda and seat-sharing arrangements would begin soon. He was accompanied by party leaders Dhirendra Jha, legislators Gopal Ravidas, Sandeep Saurabh and Shashi Yadav, as well as senior leaders K D Yadav and Umesh Singh. Bhattacharya said the party would launch 'yatras' (campaign marches) in four zones of the state, along with a series of Jan Samvad (people's dialogue) events, to address the prevailing situation under the BJP-led NDA govt in Bihar, headed by CM Nitish Kumar, as well as the national political climate under PM Narendra Modi's third term. "The BJP-NDA govt has failed on all fronts. Popular anger against both the state and central govts is rising," he said. The yatras will take place from June 18 to June 27 in old Shahabad, Magadh, Saran-Champaran and the Muzaffarpur-Darbhanga regions. The Jan Samvad meetings are scheduled for Barachatti (Gaya) on June 11, Warsaliganj (Nawada) on June 12, Rajgir (Nalanda) on June 13 and Biharsharif on June 14. Bhattacharya alleged that the law and order situation in Bihar has "virtually collapsed" with a surge in criminal activity and lawlessness. "Feudal atrocities have returned to the state. Rape of women has become commonplace. People want freedom from the oppressive system," he said. The theme of the party's campaign is 'Badlo Sarkar, Badlo Bihar' (Change the govt, change Bihar).

Uttarakhand: CM Dhami attends general assembly, executive committee meetings of Bhasha Sansthan at APJ Abul Kalam Bhawan
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 9 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is participating in the meeting of the General Assembly and Management Executive Committee of the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan at APJ Abdul Kalam Bhawan of the State Secretariat on Monday. On Sunday, CM Dhami took part in a roadshow and Jan Samvad programme in Libbarheri, Haridwar district, reaffirming that his political approach is grounded in his strong connection with the people and the land. During the visit, CM Dhami addressed the public from the stage and drove a tractor, expressing his gratitude towards the state's farmers. According to the release statement, the Chief Minister stepped down from the traditional stage and took over the tractor's steering, and a wave of enthusiasm rippled through the crowd. 'Farmers are the backbone of our country.' CM Dhami remarked. 'When I drive a tractor, it is not just a drive but a small effort to salute the hard work of our Annadata brothers. This scene made it clear that the Chief Minister's leadership is not limited to schemes and announcements; getting down on the ground and becoming a participant is an integral part of his style,' he added. CM Dhami's visit to Libbarheri was to thank the public for their support of the recently implemented Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand and to convey the importance of this historic law to the public. 'UCC is neither against any religion nor any class. It is the basic foundation of equality, justice and transparency. This is the same dream Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar had seen when drafting the Constitution. This law will prove to be a milestone in the direction of unity, brotherhood and equal rights of state citizens,' Dhami said. During the program, the Chief Minister also mentioned various state government public welfare schemes, including technical training for modern farming for farmers, startup schemes for young entrepreneurs, expansion of irrigation facilities, and upgrade of roads and health services. He said, 'Our goal is not just to do development but to take development to every village and every person.' This visit to Libbarheri proved that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's leadership is not limited to administrative boundaries. He is a public leader who listens and participates on the ground. Be it a tractor ride or a public dialogue on the Uniform Civil Code, every aspect shows that Uttarakhand is moving towards a new era, where development and sensitivity go hand in hand. (ANI)
