The 'One Big Beautiful Bill' is nearly 900 pages, chock full of provisions that could boost the finances of millions of everyday Americans. But who has time to read it or wants to spend their summer days poring over it? Probably not many of us. USA TODAY's got you covered. Here are some of the bill's tax and spending highlights most Americans want to know about and when they start and finish, if they do. Some provisions are permanent. We cover everything from no tax on overtime and tips, auto loan interest deductions, senior deductions, Trump accounts, charitable contributions to the child tax credit, 529 expansion, tax brackets, standard deductions and state and local property taxes (SALT). Which cities are experiencing poor air quality from wildfires? See maps
Wildfires are ablaze across Canada, Alaska and some western states, causing poor air quality in Midwest states and several Canadian provinces. As of Tuesday afternoon, July 15, Detroit, Michigan was the 10th most polluted major city in the world, according to IQ Air. Canadian cities Montreal and Toronto ranked 15th and 16th, respectively. There were more than 500 active fires in Canada as of Tuesday, July 15, with 141 being classified as "out of control" and 123 as "under control," according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC). Most of those fires, 121, were in Manitoba, followed by 100 in Yukon. In the United States, there are 102 wildfires actively burning, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. According to IQ Air, the following major cities are affected by wildfire smoke: Air quality concerns throughout the week The National Weather Service has issued air quality alerts for parts of Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Colorado. "An Air Quality Alert is in effect through Tuesday evening for the Chicago metro area in Illinois and in northwest Indiana due to unhealthy ozone levels and some lingering effects of Canadian wildfire smoke," the National Weather Service's Chicago office posted on X. Iran targets US military base: Where is Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar?
Iran targeted the U.S. military's largest Middle East air base with a missile attack on Monday, June 23, an apparent response to U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities days earlier. Iran's military claimed June 23 it had carried out a missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in the area of Doha, Qatar, located across the Persian Gulf from Iran. Qatar said in a statement shortly after the evening attack that Qatari air defenses successfully intercepted the missile attack and said no casualties have been reported.
