Balikwisha hands Celtic a transfer boost amid Isak Jansson blow as Royal Antwerp star posted missing

The Belgian wide man is high on Brendan Rodgers' wanted list and there's been a development at Antwerps training camp Michel-Ange Balikwisha has offered Celtic renewed transfer hope after he missed Royal Antwerp's training session. Talks over a move that would bring the wide man to Parkhead have been ongoing as Brendan Rodgers looks to add player he has previously targeted in January. ‌ Antwerp are currently in Austria on a pre-season training camp and Belgian outlet GVA claim that Balikwisha was one of two players not to take part in today's session along with Milo Hormeans. ‌ The Swede skipped his team's training session this week with Celtic thought to be leading the race to sign him. However, it now appears Jansson is on his way to Ligue 1 after Nice blew the competition away with a surprise offer. Now the Premiership champions seem determined not to miss out again and it's hoped an agreement over Balikwisha isn't far away. The player is in the final year of the his contract and Antwerp are keen to cash in while they can. Discussions have been going on for some time but reports in Belgium claim that a deal to take Balikwisha to Glasgow is expected to be concluded sooner rather than later. ‌ With Nicolas Kuhn on the verge of completing a £17.2million switch to FC Como, Rodgers is in need to reinforcements on the flanks and landing Balikwisha would at least partly make up for losing Kuhn and seeing Jansson head elsewhere. Isak Jansson to Celtic transfer at risk of collapse as mega £8.5m offer lands from surprise third bidder

Celtic and Paris were the two sides credited but it now appears Nice have stolen a march French side Nice have barged into the bidding for Isak Jansson with an £8.5million offer which has blown Celtic and Paris FC's proposals out of the water. Rapid Vienna winger Jansson had been lined up as a replacement for Nicolas Kuhn, set to complete a £17m move to Como imminently, with the Hoops fishing in the very same pond they signed the German from 18 months ago. ‌ It had appeared to be fairly advanced with the player teasing Austrian reporters on Monday before being pulled from training by the Vienna club, who feared an injury could jeopardise a club record transfer. ‌ Celtic and Paris were the two sides thought to hold serious interest – but it's now emerged that it's Nice, and not either of the other clubs, who have come out of the blue with an £8.5m offer which was promptly accepted by Rapid chiefs. Jansson cost Rapid just £200,000 from Spanish Second Division side Cartagena last summer. However, his price has skyrocketed and Nice have agreed a deal with Rapid - which will be their record transfer sale - beating the previous £7m they received for Maximilian Wober to Ajax. The club stated: "After consultation with our sporting management, Isak Jansson has left our summer training camp in Freistadt, Austria, early. "The Swedish winger was given permission to leave for talks with a club abroad interested in signing him." And while both Celtic and Paris FC reportedly offered around £3m for the 23-year-old, Nice have plunged in with the massive bid. ‌ Brendan Rodgers was asked about potential signings after last night's friendly win over Cork City but wasn't giving too much away. 'There is lot of work going on in the background and things that are what we're hoping to achieve over the coming weeks," he said. 'We definitely need that there, especially at the top end of the pitch. But no, a lot of work going on but I can't confirm that there's anything there at this moment." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Rapid issue statement regarding Celtic-linked Isak Jansson

The winger was brought to Rapid Vienna to replace Nicolas Kuhn a year and a half ago. Similar to the German wide man, Jansson is on the move this summer. Indeed, Sky Sports in Austria claims that he is 'set' to join Nice in a deal worth €10 million, a new record sale for Rapid. Read more: He has left the club's summer training camp to seal a move. A statement from the Austrian Bundesliga side read: "In consultation with SK Rapid's sporting management, Isak Jansson has left SK Rapid's summer training camp in Freistadt, Upper Austria, early. "The Swedish winger was given permission to leave for talks with a club abroad interested in signing him. "This means that the 23-year-old Scandinavian will no longer be seen at the public training scheduled for this Wednesday at 4pm in Freistadt." Celtic have already secured the services of five players this summer. Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan both returned to the club on free transfers, as Benjamin Nygren joined from Nordsjaelland in Denmark. Callum Osmand and Hayato Inamura soon followed, with the pair both featuring in a 2-1 friendly win over Cork City on Tuesday evening.
