KIULU: A total of 40 personnel and officers from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Tuaran, conducted a disaster preparedness training exercise at Sungai Kiulu, Kg Bayag, recently. According to Tuaran District APM Officer, Japli Haji Siping, the swift water rescue training was also joined by members from the Tamparuli APM Unit, comprising MyAspa-P/C/O and Aspa personnel. He said strong currents and rising water levels are among the main challenges faced by APM personnel as one of the rescue teams during search and rescue (SAR) operations. 'Regular training like this is very important to ensure that the preparedness level of our personnel is maintained both physically and mentally, especially considering that every SAR operation presents different challenges.
