Celina Jaitly claims makers of 'Jawani Diwani' starring Emraan Hashmi betrayed her as actor: 'Story became all about him…'

Celina Jaitly 's film, 'Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Ride', starring Emraan Hashmi , failed to pull the audience to the theatres. Now, after almost 20 years, the actress alleged that she was betrayed as an actor while working on the movie. Celina, in a post, has claimed that the makers had made a different promise, as her character's emotional journey was sidelined with more focus on the male's role. Celina Jaitly alleges makers of 'Jawani Diwani' betrayed her as an actor Celina Jaitly posted a video featuring her and Emraan Hashmi's scenes from Jawani Diwani on Instagram. She captioned the post, "If I had directed this film, I would have told it from the perspective of the heart, from a place of raw, real emotion. I would never have allowed HER: ROMA FERNANDEZ to settle for someone who hurt her, used her, and diminished her worth. I would have honoured her journey, just as I was promised during the director's narration. " The caption didn't end there, as it further read, "But just like my character was betrayed in the story, I too was betrayed as an actor. What was meant to be her story became all about him, the serial kisser, while the woman who was kissed and believed it was love was pushed aside.' Was Celina's post directed towards Emraan Hashmi? Celina also clarified that she has nothing against Emraan and called him "amazing." She expressed that the post is directed towards the makers of the movie. It read, "This is not against my amazing co-star; this is against the mentality of the makers at the time, who chose spectacle over sincerity and diluted a woman's voice for commercial convenience." About 'Jawani Diwani: The Youthful Ride' and Celina Manish Sharma directed the film, and it also featured Hrishitaa Bhatt, Tiku Talsania, and Mahesh Manjrekar in pivotal roles. While the film received a critical response, the song Sin Ne Sin Ne got popular among the audience. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Celina was last seen in the Kannada film Shrimathi in 2011. The film starred Upendra and Priyanka Trivedi in lead roles alongside Prem Chopra, Sayaji Shinde, and Rekha Das in supporting roles.

Celina Jaitly Slams Makers Of Her Film Jawani Diwani: ‘Made It All About Serial Kisser'

Last Updated: Celina Jaitly and Emraan Hashmi starrer Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Joyride was released in 2006. The actress is still angry at the makers for diminishing the female lead's story. Celina Jaitly has called out the makers of her 2006 film 'Jawai Diwani: A Youthful Joyride', co-starring Emraan Hashmi. She said that much like her character Roma Fernandez in the film, she too felt betrayed as an actor. Criticizing the makers, she recalled being promised a stronger character arc, but instead, her role was sidelined and 'pushed aside' as the story focused entirely on Emraan Hashmi's character, the 'serial kisser.' She clarified that her criticism wasn't aimed at her 'amazing' co-star Emraan, but at the makers' mentality, who diluted the woman's voice for commercial convenience. In her recent Instagram post, Celina Jaitly shared a video clip from Jawani Diwani, featuring her and Emraan Hashmi. 'If I had directed this film, I would have told it from the perspective of the heart, from a place of raw, real emotion. I would never have allowed HER : ROMA FERNANDEZ to settle for someone who hurt her, used her, and diminished her worth. I would have honoured her journey, just as I was promised during the director's narration. But just like my character was betrayed in the story, I too was betrayed, as an actor" she wrote. Celina further added, 'What was meant to be her story became all about him, the serial kisser, while the woman who was kissed and believed it was love was pushed aside. This is not against my amazing co-star, this is against the mentality of the makers at the time, who chose spectacle over sincerity, and diluted a woman's voice for commercial convenience." Jawani Diwani, directed by Manish Sharma, starred Emraan Hashmi, Celina Jaitly, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Tiku Talsania and Mahesh Manjrekar. Known for its catchy songs, and cheeky humour, the film tells the tale of an aspiring singer who finds himself torn between love, ambition, and complex relationships. The movie garnered mixed reviews, with specific criticism directed at the development of the female lead's storyline. Best known for her roles in early 2000s hits like Janasheen, No Entry, and Thank You, Celina was last seen in a lead role in the 2011 romantic comedy Thank You. She made a brief special appearance in the 2012 film Will You Marry Me?, and later appeared in the 2020 short film Season's Greetings. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. "Jaane Jaan" and the sonic yearning of R.D. Burman

Few compositions capture the spirit of longing like ' Jaane jaan , dhoondata phir raha' from the 1972 film, Jawani Diwani R D Burman , in one of his most evocative moods, crafts a song where melody, arrangement and harmony converge into a dazzling aural song opens with a haunting prelude, where cascading strings and percussive flourishes set the tone. Kishore Kumar 's voice across the melody stretches and contracts with a playful, yet poignant elasticity. His phrasing carries the song's soul - tender in one breath, dramatic in the next. Asha Bhosle 's harmonisation takes Anand Bakshi 's lyrics to another level, her vocals wrapping around Kishore's like a whispered answer to his call. This is breathtaking interplay. As is the sudden drop in octave where Asha seems to be lost in an unsolvable locational mystery that no GPS can track or in tempo - an RD signature - add drama to the number, keeping the listener suspended between exhilaration and melancholy. Each return ('Mein yahan') to the refrain ('Tum kahan?') feels like an unresolved puzzle.

Meet actress who made debut with Shah Rukh Khan, was Shahid Kapoor's first heroine, later quit industry due to..., her name is..., married to... In the unpredictable world of Bollywood, fame is always fleeting. A celebrity who would be winning hearts one day might become totally irrelevant and vanish in thin air the next day. However, in a place where many celebrities come and go, there are a few celebrities who remain etched in our memory despite their active contribution to the industry. There is one such actress who is an example of this. Starring opposite big names like Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor, this girl wasn't a household name or a blockbuster star, but her early work in Indian pop culture and cinema is still remembered by people who grew up watching her films. Born on 10 May 1981 in Mumbai, Hrishitaa Bhatt made her debut in the film Ashoka (2001) in which she appeared with the 'Badshah' of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. For this film, Rishita also received the Zee Cine Award for Best Debut Actress. Her next film was 'Dil Vil Pyar Pyar' (2002) which was liked by the people, but it didn't make a mark at the box office. After this, Hrishitaa worked in films like 'Jawani Diwani', 'Shararat', and 'Haasil' However, the performance that rose Hrishitaa Bhatt to fame was when she appeared in a hugely popular music video 'Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra' by the Aryans. The song, which came out in 1999, was a blockbuster and Shahid's first appearance in front of the camera. Shahid was only 17 when he had his first on-screen romantic pairing with Hrishitaa, who became his 'first heroine' — a tag that has remained with her over the years as Shahid became one of the leading Bollywood actors. With the success of the music video, Rishita moved over to films. She made her entry into Bollywood in 2001 with Asoka alongside Shah Rukh Khan. In the subsequent years, Rishita acted in movies such as Haasil, Shararat, and Jawani Diwani, sharing screens with the stars Jimmy Shergill and Hrithik Roshan. Although Hrishitaa worked with top names in Bollywood and was a powerhouse of talent, she couldn't make a mark in massy films or become a household name. Coming to her personal life, Hrishitaa tied the knot in 2017 with Anant Tiwari top diplomat for the United Nations, in an intimate wedding ceremony with only her family and friends as guests. Today, she stays low-key but active on Instagram, where she has a following of more than 1 million fans. Although she is not acting anymore, her ageless beauty and poise continue to mesmerize her dedicated fans.
