5-star 2026 basketball prospect narrows down finalists, Alabama included
One of the nation's top 2026 high school basketball prospects regardless of position has reportedly narrowed down his list of finalists to 10, with the Alabama Crimson Tide among the programs to make the cut. That prospect is highly-touted 2026 wing Jaxon Richardson, who has narrowed his list down to Alabama, Cincinnati, Creighton, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, USC, and Villanova. According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Richardson is currently considered as the nation's No. 20 overall prospect in the 2026 class, as well as the No. 7 small forward nationally. A five-star prospect, Richardson is also considered the No. 4 player in the state of Florida where he attends national power Columbus High School. The five-star is also the son of former NBA standout Jason Richardson, as well as the brother of 2025 NBA draft first round pick Jase Richardson. At the moment, a commitment date is not currently set for Richardson. No Spartans? 5-star SF Jaxon Richardson releases top 10 list without MSU
A five-star legacy prospect and brother of recent Spartans star has left Michigan State basketball off his top 10 schools list, while also including rival Michigan in the mix. Jaxon Richardson -- brother and son of former Spartans stars Jase Richardson and Jason Richardson -- cut his list of schools he's considering to 10, with Michigan State not in the fold. The 10 schools Richardson is considering includes Cincinnati, Creighton, Louisville, Miami (FL), Alabama, Michigan, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, USC and Villanova. Richardson is a five-star prospect with a recruiting rating of 99.15 in 247Sports composite system. He ranks as the No. 7 small forward and No. 20 overall prospect in the class. Despite being part of Michigan State basketball family royalty, it appears there is no known connection between the Spartans and Richardson. Per 247Sports, he holds offers from more than 20 schools but Michigan State has not formally extended him an offer. With Richardson cutting his list of schools and no offer from the Spartans, it looks like he will not be joining his family as the next great Michigan State hooper. Let's just hope he doesn't take his talents down the road to that other school in the state of Michigan... "His brother (Jase) Richardson was just drafted in the first round, and his father was a lottery pick - both out of MSU," the page added. Advertisement "Come make yourself a legend in Ann Arbor," one fan said with a sloped 'M' emoji. "What do you expect. There's no loyalty in the current landscape of college sports. It's all about the $$$," a second said. "MSU," a third added. "This was news like 2 years ago lol," a fourth added. "I wouldn't have that poverty program in my top 10 either," a fifth said. "This is a surprise to nobody lol," a Spartans fan page added. A 6-foot-6, 200 pound small forward from Columbus High School in Miami, Florida, Richardson has Alabama, Michigan, Cincinnati and USC among his top 10. He is the son of 14-year NBA veteran Jason Richardson, who played at Michigan State during his college years. Advertisement "They reach out to me almost every day. So that really means a lot to me," Richardson said according to ZAGSBLOG. "Just when I went up there, getting to see the style of play, the ball movement they have there is ridiculous. "So that's definitely something I took away from there." Michigan basketball visiting elite Florida forward Jaxon Richardson
Dusty May has done an exemplary job attracting top talent to Ann Arbor in just over a year's time, whether it be through the transfer portal or recruiting process. In short order last year, he built a team that made the Sweet 16 after being the worst team in the Big Ten, and then capitalized by signing a five-star and two four-stars in 2025. May is reloading again in the portal, with the big fish being former UAB forward Yaxel Lendeborg -- if the Wolverines can keep him from going to the NBA draft. But now the maize and blue are working to lure another forward to Ann Arbor, and it's a big name. Advertisement Hailing from Miami (Fla.) Columbus, 2026 four-star Jaxon Richardson has his fair share of suitors. But Michigan basketball is taking its show on the road to work to lure him to Ann Arbor, with Dushawn London revealing that the Wolverines sent a contingent to South Florida on Tuesday to visit him. At the moment, there are no predictions as to where Richardson will land, but SEC and ACC schools are pushing hard for his services. According to 247Sports, he's ranked the No. 19 player in the country, regardless of position and the sixth-best small forward. Richardson is listed at 6-foot-6, 200 pounds as of current. As the former head coach of Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, May has experience recruiting recruits from the region.
