‘Ranveer Singh was never written off': Dhurandhar co-star Madhavan calls actor ‘secure', says ‘couple of bad films' don't end careers

In 14 years of his career, Ranveer Singh has featured in 16 films as its leading star. Most of his work since his debut Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) has been a hit. His only films that didn't resonate with the audience were Jayeshbhai Jordar (2022), Cirkus (2022), and Befikre (2016). His film, 83 (2021) however was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite critical acclaim, it couldn't earn at the box office. This was followed by the failures of Jayeshbhai Jordaar (directly released on Prime video) and Cirkus. His performances in these films didn't impress fans after seeing his potential as an actor in movies like Bajirao Mastani (2015), Padmaavat (2018), and Gully Boy (2019). After two flops in 2022, Ranveer bounced back with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) in the leading role, which was a hit. He then briefly appeared in Singham Again, where his cameo stood out. Around the same time, one of his films with HanuMan director Prasanth Varma got shelved. It was tentatively titled Rakshas. There were no updates around his other projects: Don 3 and Baiju Bawra. For the longest time, the actor didn't announce any new film. Now, Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar co-star R Madhavan commented on the actor's career. Answering a question about Dhurandhar is Ranveer's comeback after being written off, he said, 'I don't think Ranveer Singh has ever been written off. A couple of 'not so good' films doesn't end an actor's career. He's truly good and an extraordinary actor. But, it makes a good copy in the press and media to keep writing people off and bring them back.' Here we think that if we are not shooting for three months, it means we are losing our market. Both Ranveer and I don't come from that insecurity.' He further stated, 'This is a whole new era.
