2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: CB Jaylon Jones
We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about CB Jaylon Jones. The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. Next up is cornerback Jaylon Jones. Jaylon Jones background, 2024 season An undrafted free agent from Ole Miss with the Bears in 2022, Jones became a free agent on March 12 when he wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent. He was signed by the Cardinals nine days later. He played eight games with one start last season, but was placed on injured reserve Nov. 7 with a shoulder injury and missed the remainder of the season. The injury occurred in a Week 9 game against the Cardinals in State Farm Stadium. In those eight games, Jones played 76 defensive snaps (15 percent) and 140 (66 percent) on special teams. On defense, he had 10 tackles (nine solo) with two passes defensed, while adding five tackles on special teams, which tied for seventh on the team. In the game he was injured, Jones played 16 special-teams snaps (57 percent). Jaylon Jones 2025 contract details, cap hit Jones signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals worth $1.2 million and included a $50,000 signing bonus. His salary-cap charge is also $1.2 million. 2025 questions, roster outlook It feels like a broken record analyzing the numerous cornerbacks vying for spots in a crowded cornerbacks room. Jones is another. He has experience with the Bears, which could help him as he tries to earn a roster spot that will likely depend on special-teams production. 2025 Indianapolis Colts roster preview: CB Jaylon Jones
Let's take a closer look at this Indianapolis Colts team as we go player-by-player through the roster. Up next is CB Jaylon Jones. With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Indianapolis Colts' 91-man roster. Going alphabetically up next is cornerback Jaylon Jones. Jaylon Jones' profile 2024 Snap count totals 2024 PFF grades 2024 Season Review Jones had really impressive ball production last season. He finished the year coming away with two interceptions and 10 pass breakups. Among all cornerbacks, Jones was tied for seventh in pass breakups, per PFF, and 11th in forced incompletions. This resulted in quarterbacks having a below-average passer rating of 85.8 when targeting him. However, when Jones wasn't getting his hands on the ball, opponents were still fairly efficient when going after him. He allowed a completion rate of 65% on 85 targets and gave up 13.2 yards per catch. Out of 73 eligible corners, Jones' yards per catch allowed was the 16th-most. Also of note, Jones' nine penalties were the 12th-most among cornerbacks as well. Overall, progress was made from Year 1 to Year 2, but there is still more growth needed. Looking ahead to the 2025 season Jones was sidelined during the latter portion of offseason programs with what was reported as a "soft tissue injury," according to the Indy Star. Jones is the likely favorite to start opposite of Charvarius Ward this season, but there will be competition for that playing time with JuJu Brents, Justin Walley, and potentially others. "Just consistency of work, and that's going to have to show throughout training camp, throughout the preseason games, to determine who's going to get that job," Anarumo said of the cornerback opening. In this new defensive scheme, where coverages will be varied heavily, I also wouldn't be surprised if some sort of rotation takes place there, depending on the in-game situation and what the game plan calls for based on the opponent.
