Hollyoaks confirms major Joel twist that turns everything on its head
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday's (July 16) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm. There's nothing like a great big twist right before a soap wedding to throw everything on its head – and that's exactly what Hollyoaks served up during its last episode of the week. With groom-to-be / serial killer Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) all set to wed John Paul McQueen (James Sutton), he confided in Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) about how happy he is in life right now. In fact, he reckons he's never been happier. Robbie, who is being held captive by the murderer at the allotment, listened intently as Jez explained the catalyst in what led to such overwhelming joy. 'None of this would have happened,' he said. 'I wouldn't be in the happiest place I've ever been in my life if I hadn't killed Tommy and blamed Joel for it'. Talk about a twist . To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The Tommy that Jez is referring to is, of course, Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows), the fake therapist who recorded his murderous confessions and used them to blackmail him. Tommy was murdered earlier this year, with Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) – who was led by Tommy to believe that he'd killed someone – convinced that he was to blame. Joel confessed to the police and was subsequently jailed. But it turns out that Joel is actually innocent – it was Jez who committed the crime, framing Joel for it. Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin), meanwhile, made it quite clear that she doesn't want Joel in her unborn baby's life due to the fact he's killed someone. If only she knew! More Trending And on the subject of shock twists, that wasn't the only one in store for fans during the episode in question, with Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) learning from Martha (Sherrie Hewson) that Jez was the one who murdered his social worker. With Jez believing that all his loose ends have been tied up ahead of tying the knot, the question is: will the truth of his heinous crimes come spilling out via Bobby? And will Joel get justice? The two men prepare to exchange vows in an action-packed batch of episodes but with secrets and lies pretty much everywhere, the question remains as to whether or not they will actually say 'I do'. Will Liberty Savage (Jessamy Stoddart) – who has been having a secret affair with Jez – find it difficult to keep quiet? Or will Jez's killer secrets come to light? A soap wedding is nothing if not eventful and this one will certainly be no different! Elsewhere, Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) confesses his feelings to Diane (Alex Fletcher), with the much-loved couple deciding to give things another go. For all the details of what to expect next week then you've come to the right place, so happy reading. The day before Jez and John Paul's wedding, secrets and lies threaten to destroy everything. And I don't just mean the fact that one of the grooms is, you know, a serial killer, but also the fact that he's been having an affair with Liberty. Dodger is left in shock when he uncovers the scandalous relationship. Liberty denies all knowledge of what he's referring to when confronted on the subject but, ever the detective, Dodger pushes her to reveal all. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video But as tensions escalate the focus shifts, with Dodge getting a phone call to confirm that Dennis' body has been found. Lib relays the tragic news to Sienna and Martha. John Paul, meanwhile, grows suspicious of Jez and, fearing that he doesn't really know him at all, he tells his fiancé that he's unsure about whether or not he truly loves him. As you can imagine, such a statement doesn't go down too well with Jez, who lashes out, smashing a mirror. Elsewhere, Tony arranges to meet with Mercedes and shares his hopes of reuniting with Diane. Later, he and ex-wife Di move back into The Dog, while Jack is delighted at the prospect of being asked back behind the bar ahead of the show's signature pub re-opening. The big wedding day arrives and Jez is intent on tying up some loose ends before he and John Paul wed. That is, if he and John Paul wed as the killer's fiancé is still having cold feet. The McQueens are on hand to offer the teacher some support as he weighs up whether or not Jez is the man for him. Jez tracks him down and makes one more heartfelt plea, begging JP to give him another chance. As the ceremony gets underway and the guests gather, Jez is delighted to see John Paul arrive at the altar. The question is: will vows be exchanged? Hollyoaks reveals Jez wedding shocker as another dead body is confirmed
There's nothing more eventful than a Hollyoaks wedding, which is something that Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) and John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) are about to find out for themselves next week. The grooms-to-be are set to tie the knot in what promises to be an explosive week for the Channel 4 soap, with Jez's deadly antics set to cause quite a stir. The gardener, as viewers know, is a dastardly serial killer who has been committing murderous acts for decades. Since his arrival in the village a year ago (two years ago in the show's universe), he's claimed the lives of Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith), Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) and social worker Ian. He's also murdered Dennis Savage (Joe Tracini), who was last seen on screens in 2018. Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) has been investigating Dennis' murder for months and next week tragedy strikes when the character's body is found. The undercover policeman receives the update just seconds after a confrontation with Liberty (Jessamy Stoddart), who has been having an affair with Jez. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Dodger, having been given reason to suspect such a thing, urges Lib to come clean about the questionable romance when he gets a phone call to confirm Dennis' remains have been uncovered. Reeling, Liberty shares the tragic update with Sienna (Anna Passey) and Martha (Sherrie Hewson). John Paul, meanwhile, grows suspicious of Jez's commitment to him and tells his fiancé that he's not sure he loves him. Enraged, Jez smashes a mirror amid a violent outburst. As the day of the wedding arrives, Jez gets set to tie up all of his loose ends. No matter the cost. John Paul, however, is still full of doubts, with his family offering him support. Determined to win him back, Jez urges JP to give him once more shot. And as the wedding guests gather, the murderer is delighted to see John Paul at the altar. The question is: with secrets galore, will the vows be exchanged? That remains to be seen but what I can tell you is that, the fallout of the wedding results in emotions running high – and danger closes in fast. Later, at the allotment, Libery visits Jez. But is their love affair at an end? Tony meets with Mercedes ahead of The Dog re-opening, sharing his hopes of rebuilding his family as he and Diane move back into the pub. More Trending Armed with newfound confidence, Tony asks Diane to give them another shot. With risks involved and the children to think about, Di reckons they should take things slow. Later in the week, a vendetta leads to Tony making a life-changing detour. Jack, meanwhile, is delighted to be asked back behind the bar.
