DLSA identifies 1,200 destitute kids to connect them with govt schemes
Ranchi: The district legal services authority (DLSA), Ranchi, has identified around 1,200 destitute children under SAATHI programme for linking them to Aadhaar and subsequently to various social welfare schemes of the state administration, an official said on Saturday. According to the DLSA official, SAATHI — Survey for Aadhar and Access to Tracking and Holistic Inclusion — is being implemented by the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority in the state under the auspices of the National Legal Services Authority. The survey covers minors who are living on streets, slums and railway stations, orphans, abandoned children, those rescued from trafficking, begging and child labour, missing children not restored to families and others. DSLA Ranchi secretary Ravi Kumar Bhaskar said, "The phase for identifying the children from May 26 to June 26 is complete in Ranchi district. We have identified around 1,200 children but if more come up during the process of linking them with Aadhar and covering them under various government schemes, they will also be added." The DLSA would coordinate with women and child development, social welfare and education departments to ensure various govt benefits apart from school admissions and health check-ups. Notably, the state govt is implementing a sponsorship scheme under which a person or institution takes up responsibility for children and Ashram Yojna for providing food and accommodation to them. It also provides Scholarship Yojna for financial aid to the poor and destitute. The DLSA would also conduct community dialogue to reduce stigma against orphans and institutionalized children.

Jhalsa camp distributes assets worth Rs 18cr among 300 people
Ranchi: Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Jhalsa) on Saturday held a state-wide legal awareness cum empowerment camp in Khunti during which assets worth around Rs 18 crore were distributed among 300 beneficiaries. He emphasized on the importance of education in creating awareness against the superstitions related to witch hunting. Justice Prasad also stressed on strict implementation of adding that the masses must be educated about JHASLAs legal services and also about the govt's welfare schemes. Jharkhand HC judge Sanjay Kumar Dwiwedi said the camp is aimed at providing legal aid to people and also make them aware of their rights.

Min visits four orphan siblings

The kids are undergoing counselling," she said after visiting the kids with a team of district administration officials so as to connect the children with welfare measures to ensure their safety and the Jharkhand high court judge and executive chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Justice SN Prasad, asked the district legal services authority to send a team to the family and assure it of proper legal team led by DLSA secretary (in-charge) Abhishek Srivastva met the family and informed them about govt welfare schemes. Applications for benefits under Dada Dadi Vridhha Pension Yojna, the PM Awas Yoja, and others were received from the family.

Jhalsa to appoint mediators for commercial disputes
Ranchi: Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Jhalsa ) plans to appoint mediators in all districts of the state for resolving commercial disputes before the matters go to the courts. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now As part of the programme, a total of 68 mediators will be trained in three batches. The first two batches, comprising a group of 50 mediators, are currently undergoing training under the first phase which started from April 26 and will conclude on April 30. The third batch of 18 mediators would be skilled in the second phase, from May 1 to May 5. Jharkhand high court judge and executive chairman Jhalsa, justice S N Prasad on Saturday inaugurated the 40-hour training programme for mediators comprising advocates, experts in different fields and retired bureaucrats and executives at Vishvesvaraya hall in Kanke. Addressing the meeting, justice Prasad expressed hope that post training the mediators would help reduce the pending cases in the courts and also enable improved social harmony. Speaking to TOI on the issue, Jhalsa secretary Ranjana Asthana stated, "A large majority of new trainees will be responsible for resolving the commercial disputes. The pre-litigation mediation is mandatory in such quarrels. Before the training session, Jhalsa had sought names of two mediators each from all the districts." The trainers for the programme have been provided by the mediation and conciliation project committee, which has been constituted by the Supreme Court of India. It may be stated here that with Jhalsa aiming to provide mediators at sub-divisional courts as well, similar training programmes are expected in the future. Jhalsa has disposed of lakhs of pending and pre-litigation disputes though alternative dispute resolution system which includes mediation. For example, in the last National Lok Adalat held on March 8, Jhalsa had disposed of 18,70,711 disputes including 1,46,918 pending and 17,23,793 pre-litigation cases.
