Where are they now - the 7/7 supporters who were jailed or are on the run

The 7/7 bombers left behind a network of fanatics who inspired, assisted and defended them - but where are those fanatics now? Though the four 7/7 bombers died alongside their 52 innocent victims, they left a network of fanatics who inspired, assisted and defended them. Some were jailed, others are on the run. Omar Bakri Muhammad Radical preacher Omar Bakri Muhammad was the leader of al-Muhajiroun before it was banned by the Government in 2005. The 7/7 bombers were said to have links to al-Muhajiroun and Bakri sparked outrage 20 years ago by saying he would not inform the police if he knew Muslims were planning the attacks. ‌ The 67-year-old fled to Lebanon where he was later jailed for supporting al Qaeda. Released last year after nearly ten years in jail, he is believed to be living in Lebanon's second city Tripoli. In a recent online interview, found by the Middle East Media Research Institute's Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor, Bakri claimed that the Muslims have "tamed" the British state and established Sharia law zones. He also appeared to back ISIS and called for a global Caliphate. ‌ He said: "Why are Muslims in Britain more advanced in terms of practicing Islam than any other European country or even Western country? [This is] simply because we tamed them [the British people] … they did not tame us the way they did with the Muslims in France… We even have a Shari'a' zone in some streets." He added: "We called on them to condemn their own system [of democracy]. Some people said, 'oh these people are crazy! They want to establish khilafa [an Islamic caliphate] in the UK!' I said, 'What's the big deal? Why are you upset with that? … There was an attempt in Syria recently, the Baghdadi caliphate. People don't recognize it, but it was for seven years the domain of Islam … and they [the unbelievers] fought against them and destroyed it. But Muslims worldwide are still working to see the deen [religion] of Allah prevailing wherever they are." Abdullah el-Faisel Jamaican-born Abdullah el-Faisel, a hate preacher who had a 'strong influence' on some 7/7 bombers, is in prison in the US. He was previously jailed in the UK for stirring up racial hatred and soliciting murder before he was deported to Jamaica. Ten years ago, we revealed he was recruiting for ISIS from the Caribbean island, defending the beheading of hostages and the taking of Yazidi women as sex slaves. The New York Police Department launched an undercover investigation into el-Faisel the following year and in 2023 he was jailed for 18 years following his extradition to the US on terror charges. The Muslim convert was named by former Home Secretary John Reid as a "strong influence" on the 7/7 bombers, including ringleader Mohammed Siddique Khan and Germaine Lindsay. He admits meeting Lindsay and his widow Samantha Lewthwaite but denied radicalising them. ‌ Samantha Lewthwaite Muslim convert Samantha Lewthwaite - or the 'White Widow' - has spent more than a decade on the run as one of the world 's most-wanted terrorists. She was married to 7/7 suicide bomber Germaine Lindsay, who killed 26 people in the underground between Kings Cross and Russell Square, and had two children with him. After saying she was 'horrified' by the 7/7 attacks, she fled the UK and has since been linked to a string of terror attacks in Kenya which have killed hundreds, including the 2013 Westgate Mall attack. She is wanted in Kenya and is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice. There were reports the 41-year-old was seen fighting alongside militants in Yemen but her family reportedly believe she may have been killed. Haroon Rashid Aswat Haroon Rashid Aswat, a convicted terrorist who met 7/7 bombers Mohammed Siddique Khan and Shahzad Tanweer in Pakistan, is due to be released from a secure mental facility. Aswat was jailed in 2015 in the US for 20 years having admitted to trying to start a terrorist training camp in Oregon. He was returned to the UK in 2022 and is currently detained under the Mental Health Act. Aswat is set to be released despite having been deemed a threat to national security. The 50-year-old will be under a notification order which the Metropolitan Police applied for in the High Court earlier this year.

Hizbullah Secretary-General Naim Qassim: 'We In Hizbullah Will Not Remain Neutral In The War Against Iran'

The following report is now a complimentary offering from MEMRI's Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM). For JTTM subscription information, click here. On June 19, 2025, in a statement, Sheikh Naim Qassim, Secretary-General of Hizbullah, denounced the "Israeli-American aggression" against Iran, framing it as an attack on global resistance and freedom.[1] 'Beacon Of Resistance And Independence' Qassim portrayed Iran as a global symbol of support for the oppressed and resistance movements, particularly in Palestine. He stated, "The Islamic Republic of Iran represents a prominent global light in supporting the oppressed, backing the resistance, and providing full support for the liberation of Palestine and Al-Quds. It is a faith-based, ethical, and independent experience of dignity." He highlighted Iran's 46-year "resilience against aggression and blockades," crediting its gains to self-reliance and the leadership of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and noting Iran's role in "inspiring resistance" in Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond. Rejecting Pretexts For War On Iran Qassim dismissed the justification for the strikes on Iran's nuclear program as baseless, emphasizing Iran's peaceful nature and alignment with international law. "What is the flimsy pretext for the Israeli aggression, decided by America and supported by it and the world's tyrants? The pretext is uranium enrichment and its nuclear program for peaceful purposes, which Iran pursues to serve its people and their progress, a right guaranteed by international laws and the International Atomic Energy Agency." He argued that this program poses no threat but contributes to scientific advancement in Iran and in the region. "U.S.-Led Aggression Is Threat To Global Stability" The statement depicted the U.S. and Israeli actions as destabilizing, accusing the two countries of dragging the region into chaos. Qassim warned, "The U.S. threat against the Supreme Leader and Jurist, Imam Khamenei, and the aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, is an aggression against all the peoples of the region and the free people of the world." He added that such actions "take the region into chaos and instability, and the world to open-ended crises," predicting failure and disgrace for the aggressors. Hizbullah's Solidarity With Iran Qassim affirmed Hizbullah's unwavering support for Iran, rejecting neutrality in the face of what he called global injustice. He stated: "We in Hizbullah and the Islamic Resistance are not neutral between Iran's legitimate rights and independence and the falsehood of America's aggression, along with the cancerous tumor Israel and the arrogant powers. We stand by Iran against this global injustice because we stand for our independence, the liberation of our land, and the freedom of our decisions and choices." He pledged to act as Hizbullah deems appropriate to counter the aggression. Call For Unified Resistance Urging global solidarity, Qassim called on free people, resistance fighters, and scholars to rally around Iran and its leadership. "We call on all free people, the oppressed, the resistance, scholars, and those with sound opinions to raise their voices loudly, display strength and courage, and support by rallying around the most honorable and noble leadership of Imam Khamenei (may his shadow endure), and with the brave and generous Iranian people." He stressed that unity is essential to thwart imperialist projects and to achieve the goals of resistance. 'Iran's Resilience and Israel's Failures' Qassim underscored Iran's unbreakable spirit and Israel's recent setbacks, citing the latter's reliance on U.S. support. "America and criminal Israel will not be able to subdue the Iranian people and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. This is a people that cannot be defeated, as proven by the days of past Israeli aggression, which showed the resilience of this people and their defiance of all pressures." "It also revealed Israel's failure and heavy losses, inflicted for the first time in 77 years since the occupation of Palestine," he said, reinforcing the need for continual support for Iran. The statement concluded with a Quranic verse, reinforcing Iran's steadfastness: "Those to whom the people said, 'Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But it only increased their faith, and they said, 'Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.'"

London-Based Al-Qaeda Ideologue: Military Rule In Egypt Antagonizes Islam And Shari'a, Egypt Must Be Liberated From 'Army Of Mischief'; 'It Is Either Islam, Or The Military'

The following report is now a complimentary offering from MEMRI's Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM). For JTTM subscription information, click here . On April 13, 2025, the "Nahar Al-Da'wah [River of Preaching]" Telegram channel, which is affiliated with London-based Egyptian Al-Qaeda ideologue Hani Al-Siba'i, reposted a summary of a lecture titled "The Republic of Militar-istan and Egypt's Army of Mischief," accusing the government of Egypt of antagonizing Muslims and secularizing public life. Al-Siba'i called on Muslims to liberate Egypt, arguing that the country is a land of Islam and will remain as such. [1] "Egypt Will Never Enjoy Security As Long As President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi And His Military Clique Are In Power" Al-Siba'i began the lecture, which was also shared on the cleric's website "Risalat Widd" [2] and his personal account on X (formerly Twitter), [3] by saying that Egypt will never enjoy security as long as President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and his military clique are in power, protecting the edifices of secularism and allowing all sorts of assaults on Islam and Muslims. The Egyptian army, he stated, is an army of mischief that occupies Egypt, and which turned it into a den of malice, treason, and immorality. According to Al-Siba'i, exposing the military junta and its henchmen: the judiciary, media, imams, priests, and all the misguided who blindly who follow every loudmouth, is "a religious necessity," noting that Egypt's military does not fight for the sake of Allah, but rather for the sake of America and the enemies of Islam. "Does it support and befriend the believers? Or does it support and cozy up to the nonbelievers? This army, since its founding, has been hostile to Islam and stands against the empowerment of Islamic shari'a," he added. "The Egyptian Army Besieges Muslims In Egypt, Libya, Palestine, Syria, And Elsewhere" He further explained that the military has always been hostile to Muslims: "It fights them, kills them, and conspires against them! It is an army that befriends and supports the believers, protects their interests, and besieges Muslims in Egypt, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and elsewhere." Citing a Quran verse to corroborate the religious designation of an army that allies with non-Islamic parties against Muslims, the cleric states that it is manifestly clear that the Egyptian army fights for causes other than Islam, and it therefore meets the divine command to the believers to fight it. "Liberate Your Country From The Army Of Mischief" He calls on the people of Egypt to disassociate from the "criminal sect" of the army and the police, saying that the name of Egypt under the rule of the military has become synonymous with atheism, polytheism, hypocrisy, and debauchery, and urges them to act to change the form of government in Egypt. "Oh Muslims in Egypt, liberate your country from the army of mischief! Liberate your country from militarism! Egypt is not the land of the military. It is the bastion of Islam and will remain so... Hold your head high, you are a Muslim. Islam is supreme and nothing is superior to it. Say it loudly and do not hesitate." "It is either Islam, or the military," he declares.
