If BJP is voted to power, Hindus won't need to beg for Bonalu funds: Minister Bandi
HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday wondered why every year, people have to beg for funds for temples during Bonalu and other festivals. The BJP leader, who visited different temples to participate in Bonalu festivities during the day, said people need not beg for funds as they are sincerely paying all their bills and taxes. He announced that if the BJP is voted to power in the state, the situation would be different. 'Funds would be allocated for Bonalu and all other Hindu festivals, ensuring that every Hindu feels proud of these celebrations,' he declared. The MoS urged the residents of the Old City who had left their homes due to terrorist bombings and 'Jihadi gangs' during the UPA regime to return to their own houses. 'People of the Old City, I appeal to all of you. In the presence of Goddess Simhavahini, under the blessings of Goddess Bhagyalakshmi, I assure you — I'm here to stand by you. The Old City belongs to you. You have nothing to fear. Return to your homes. We take full responsibility for your protection. We will turn every Hindu into a vote bank and demonstrate the strength of Hindus,' he said. Bandi said that the people were afraid to wear a bindi or hold a saffron flag near Charminar in the past. But today, under the gaze of Goddess Bhagyalakshmi, people are chanting 'Jai Shri Ram', he claimed.

Prayagraj police bust radicalisation racket, rescue Dalit minor who was taken to Kerala
As per the police authorities, Kaif tried to outrage the modesty of the victim, and Kehkashan prompted the minor to undergo religious conversion. The conspiracy unfolded when the victim, 15, who was allegedly taken from her village on May 8, escaped from the captivity of Daraksha and Kaif in Kerala and contacted her mother. According to DCP Kuldeep Singh Gunawat, the teen, who was being forced to join 'Jihadi' activities, somehow managed to reach the Thrissur railway station from where she called up her mother with the help of local police. 'After contacting her mother from Kerala, the girl was brought back to Prayagraj and is currently being housed at a 'One Stop Centre' for protection. A case has been registered against Daraksha Bano, Mohammed Kaif, and an unidentified person who allegedly handed out threats to the victim's family over the phone,' said the DCP. During preliminary interrogation, the victim revealed that other minor girls were also being targeted and recruited by the same group. In the preliminary enquiry, it came to the fore that it was an interstate gang involved in a radicalisation network and that it could be active in other states as well. According to the DCP, the girl was introduced to suspicious individuals who first enticed her with money, then allegedly coerced her into converting her religion and then put pressure on her into extremist activities. She told the police authorities that Kaif had taken her on a motorcycle to Prayagraj Junction railway station and also allegedly harassed her, while Kehkashan Bano, later, took her to Delhi by train and then to Kerala, where she was introduced to unknown persons involved in the radicalisation network. The DCP said that the accused were operating as part of an organised syndicate aimed at misleading girls and pushing them into anti-national and terror activities. Three dedicated police teams have been formed to investigate further leads and unearth the full network associated with the suspects.

FBI Offers $15,000 Reward for Information Over Man Killed at Birthday Party
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $15,000 reward for information on the person who killed a man at a birthday party. Geavauntae (Tae) Sherman, 22, was shot and killed at his sister's birthday party at Raymond City Park in Portland, Oregon, on June 20, 2022. Three years later, police are still looking for information that could lead to the arrest of the shooter. The FBI Portland office has been contacted via email outside of working hours for comment. There were dozens of witnesses to the shooting when it occurred, but none have come forward, per Oregon Live reporting. This renewed interest in the case from the FBI and large reward may inspire witnesses to talk to law enforcement. Sherman was at the park to celebrate his younger sister's birthday when he got into an argument with a group of people over playground equipment. Oregon Live reported at the time, citing police, that some children, including his two younger sisters, were having an argument over the swing sets. Then, a few adults from a separate park birthday party went over to the playground and got involved in the fight. Sherman went in to intervene, which is when someone pulled out a gun and shot Sherman three times right next to his 21-year-old sister, Dayshanay Sherman. She told the outlet that her brother's last words were "'Why are we yelling and cussing? We're all adults.'" Dayshanay Sherman described her brother as her "best friend," and "a very protective and goofy older brother." The case has seen renewed interest as part of the FBI's Case of the Week program, where an unsolved case that either occurred around the same time a few years ago or is of major public interest, is highlighted by the bureau. Although the FBI offered the same monetary reward in 2023, nobody came forward then. It is offering $15,000 again two years later in the hopes that witnesses speak up. Dayshanay Sherman told Oregon Live in 2022: "Everything is so quiet without Tae, because he always knew how to keep the conversation going. He was a good person... he was my best friend." Kieran L. Ramsey, special agent in charge of the FBI Portland field office told the press in 2023: "We know there were dozens of witnesses in the park that evening. We need those witnesses to come forward with any details they remember."
