WWE SmackDown Results & Highlights (6/27/25): Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton faceoff before KOTR, Rey Fenix makes a surprise entry, John Cena and more
Image via WWE The night before the Night of Champions sees a star-studded Kingdom arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. From WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton, to the woman she will face tonight, Nia Jax, to WWE Tag Team Champions Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins and Women's U.S. Champion Zelina Vega, Giulia, Jade Cargill, and Asuka, Riyadh is a myriad of wrestling superstars. The June 27th edition of WWE SmackDown is a preview to the big night, where the King and Queen of the Ring for 2025 will be decided. But not to fret, the night in itself has some pretty high profile matches to go through, and John Cena is also set to be featured alongside CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and LA Knight Opening segment with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton Cody Rhodes makes his entrance after being introduced by ring announcer Mark Nash to the crowd cheering for him. He was about to speak when he got interrupted by entrance music. Randy Orton walked to the ring, and the crowd continued to sing his theme song even after it stopped playing. The segment then got cut short for international viewers because of a feed issue with Netflix. The streaming company posted a graphic apologizing for the interruption, and then a 'we'll be right back' graphic appeared. Jimmy Uso vs. JC Mateo (with Solo Sikoa) The Bloodline members or whatever is left of it, are still fighting against each other. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Outdoor Clothing | Designed to Perform. Built to Endure. Trek Kit India Shop Now Undo And this time it was a match between JC Mateo and Jimmy Uso with an appearance from Solo Sikoa. Mateo looked to be the dominant one from the beginning, even though Jimmy Uso tried his best to overcome his opponent. At the end, Uso went up top and then jumped over and rolled, but Mateo was ready for him and defeated Uso by pinfall in about 6 minutes into the match. In an after match segment, Solo Sikoa, who tried to distract Jimmy Uso during the match, helped him up and asked him if he was ready to come back. In return, he got slapped by his cousin while fans booed. Jacob Fatu made an entrance to the crowd cheering for him, and dropped a Samoan Drop on Mateo after running into the ring, and then a double jump moonsault. Uso then pushed Fatu out of the way and superkicked Sikoa out of the ring, bringing an end to the segment. In a backstage segment, #DIY and other tag teams are seen talking about The Wyatt Sicks when SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis comes in. Listening to their chatter, Aldis calls in Andrade and asks him to find a partner to face a now furious #DIY Zelina Vega vs. Giulia for the Women's U.S. Championship Both Giulia and Zelina Vega looked to be equally matched as the fight started. When Giulia hit a double underhook superplex, Vega retaliated with a Code Red. The match seemed like it could be in anyone's favor, before Giulia kneed her opponent in the face before hitting Vega with a Northern Lights Bomb, defeating her in roughly 7:30 minutes to win the Women's U.S. Championship by pinfall. In another backstage segment, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are seen exchanging a few words before the latter walks off. Could this be the beginning of an unlikely partnership? Then Aksuka and Jade Cargill make their way into the ring before tomorrow night, where they will face off against each other for the Queen of the Ring title. They exchange a few words before Money in the Bank winner Naomi cuts them off with her entrance. There is a strong chance she will cash in her MITB win during the Night of Champions event the next night. In yet another backstage segment, Aleister Black walks in on Raw General Manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis discussing the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. But it all turns into chaos when R-Truth bursts in demanding to get a face-off against John Cena. Aldis tells him that John Cena is in Riyadh to fight CM Punk, but R-Truth says he is here for Cena before walks off. All this while, Black is there watching everything happen. At the end he walks off. Is another storyline brewing backstage? 'DIY' Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa vs. Andrade and Rey Fenix Andrade bringing in Rey Fenix was a surprise for many, and the crowd are seen cheering for what is to come. The two tag teams go up against each other one after the other. At one time Fenix is seen running to the top rope and kicking Tommaso Ciampa in the face, while in the next moment fans can see #DIY hitting Andrade with the Shatter Machine for a near fall. At the end Andrade and Rey Fenix defeated 'DIY' Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa by pinfall in about 15 minutes into the match. After the earlier backstage segment, R-Truth gets in the ring to a deafening crowd response. He is in his vibe, and calls out John Cena. But suddenly, Aleister Black comes from behind and hits him with Black Mass and a cryptic message, before walking off. The audience is left bewildered. WWE Tag Team Championship The Street Profits sees Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford going against The Wyatt Sicks members, Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis. To make things interesting, Erik Rowan, Nikki Cross, and Uncle Howdy also make their appearance, as things go awry minutes into the match. Los Garza, The Motor City Machine Guns, and Fraxiom are all seen coming to ringside, and even the recent losers #DIY are there. A brawl breaks out, leading to the match being thrown out. WWE Women's Championship The Last Woman Standing Match sees Nia Jax going against the current title holder, Tiffany Stratton. Before the bell can even ring, Nia Jax throws Tiffany Stratton into the ring post. Jax's physically imposing nature comes in handy against a lithe opponent like Stratton, but the latter manages to keep herself in the match over and over. Suddenly, Naomi runs into the ring with her Money in the Bank briefcase. But while she is talking to the referee, Stratton hits her before sending Jax on top of her. In the end, Stratton picked up the MITB briefcase and knocked Jax off before taking the win for herself with a pinfall after 17 minutes in the ring. The final segment of the night saw WWE Champion John Cena making his entrance with his title belt held high. He said, "This is what a winner looks like,' and called CM Punk a loser. CM Punk then made his entry wearing a Chicago Cubs jersey, a chain with a padlock on it, a Chicago Bulls hat on backwards, and jorts, mocking Cena's usual attire. Punk also put on big rings resembling Cena, before saying, 'Yo, check it, this is basic Punkanomics. Don't adjust your television set, your eyes are just right. This clown plagiarized my pipe bomb, so now I'm stealing WordLife.' John Cena looked completely shocked at the tune of events as Punk continued rapping and rhyming. The Best in the World then dropped the mic and did the infamous 'you can't see me' hand gesture in Cena's face, bringing an end to the show. PS. From next week onwards, SmackDown will be back to its two-hour long format. WWE Hall of Famer speaks out on what's next for Jimmy Uso
Jimmy Uso (Image Via WWE) Jimmy Uso 's future in WWE is looking big and full of stories. From wrestling alongside his twin brother Jey to becoming a superstar on his own, Jimmy's path has been filled with many twists and turns. Now, there's a feeling that something big is about to happen for him soon. While many fans were hoping to see him at WrestleMania 41, the plans fell through at the last moment. Instead, it was Jey Uso who became world champion, while Jimmy was left on the side. This made many people wonder what's next for him. What's next for Jimmy Uso? According to a new report by Cory Hays of and PWN, there were big plans for Jimmy Uso to be involved in the United States Title picture, but those plans fell through. The report from Hays said, 'they had plans for Jimmy in the US Title scene leading to Mania but a lot of plans changed for Mania.' This meant that while Jey Uso was busy wrestling for the world title, Jimmy was left without a big match at WrestleMania. But this might be a chance for something even greater in his future. Some reports say we might soon see The Usos back together as a team. The last time we saw them team up was during Money in the Bank in 2023, and they briefly teamed up on the March 24 episode of Raw. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? While Jey has been busy growing as a superstar, Jimmy is looking for his own way forward. This change might be a chance for him to show everyone what he can do in the ring. The two brothers may team up soon and make their way back to the top together. Rikishi speaks his mind about his son One person who has been following this story closely is WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, the father of both the Uso brothers. Rikishi has shared his thoughts and disappointments about what happened to Jimmy. Episode 55 - Viva Las Vegas! Rikishi Fatu - Off The Top Podcast He said, 'I'm sure that Big Jim got a lot of fans out there, brother. But as of right now, we just seen Big Jim basically got his ass handed to him by Gunther. I'm kind of upset about this sht, man. Hell, if I was there I would have probably bust Gunther's head open with a crawfish. I mean, that was just unnecessary, let Jey fight his own battle. Big Jim don't have to come save his brother. I raised some tough men, smart men. I'm sure Jey's gonna figure this sht out. Now I got another son laid up, busted wide open and trying to heal.' While this might be a tough time for Jimmy Uso, there is a strong feeling that bigger and better things are waiting for him in the future. His eventual reunion with Jey could bring back their magic and put them back in the main event picture in WWE. Also Read: Jey Uso Shares His Thoughts on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa's Success

Jey Uso retains the World Title on the anniversary of his WWE debut
With the world title on the line and the referee down, interference ran rampant as a Samoan warrior emerged victorious, still the champion. For a moment, it felt like a throwback to the days when Roman Reigns ruled the ring. Instead, it was Jey Uso who stood tall, successfully defending his title against Logan Paul at Saturday Night's Main Event. After the show, Uso reflected on his journey to becoming World Heavyweight Champion, which began exactly 15 years ago that Saturday. Advertisement 'I appreciate every single one of y'all, man, on my journey, and it's still going. From the bottom of my heart, man, I love y'all,' said Uso as he spoke to the fans in Tampa's Yuengling Center. That emotional moment was grounded in history. Uso referenced his time in Tampa, where he and his brother Jimmy once wrestled for Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE's developmental system before NXT. For over a decade, Jey and Jimmy dominated WWE's tag team scene, culminating in 2023, when the twin duo headlined WrestleMania 39 and Money in the Bank. In many ways, Uso's ascension mirrors that of WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. For nearly seven years, Hart and his partner Jim Neidhart were arguably WWE's preeminent tag team. As the Hart Foundation, they captured two world tag team titles and had several memorable encounters with the British Bulldogs, Demolition, and The Rockers. After the team amicably parted ways, Hart began climbing the ranks of WWE's singles division. In 1991, he defeated Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam to win the Intercontinental Title. At WrestleMania VIII in 1992, he won the title a second time, defeating one of the faces of WWE's golden era, Rowdy Roddy Piper. Before the year was through, Hart defeated the legendary Ric Flair to win his first of five WWE Championships. Advertisement Similarly, Uso captured the Intercontinental Title last year before going on to dethrone Gunther at WrestleMania 41 to win the World Championship. But unlike 'The Hitman,' Uso has faced criticism from some fans online, who argue that his in-ring skills don't measure up to past champions like Hart. However, focusing solely on in-ring technique misses what pro wrestling is truly about: storytelling, mic work, and emotional connection. In that regard, Uso is as good as anyone who came before him. 'There's just this magical connection between him, and when he's in that ocean of people that are loving what he does that becomes undeniable,' said Paul Levesque, WWE's Chief Content Officer, after WrestleMania. Levesque praised Uso's work not just for being a guy with a trendy catchphrase but for how he has grown as a performer. 'I think everybody saw something different in Jey over the last couple of years in that Bloodline story and the way he handled himself,' said Levesque of Uso's time as Reigns' understudy. Advertisement Still, to cement Uso as a legitimate champion, WWE needs to present his title reign with more authority. Since capturing the title, Uso has had three matches with questionable finishes. He was disqualified against Seth Rollins in what was Uso's first title defense. Two weeks later, 'Main Event' Jey beat Bron Breakker by DQ in a non-title match. Both matches were on Raw, and each was plagued by outside interference. At Saturday Night's Main Event, Uso defeated Paul, but again, the involvement of John Cena and Cody Rhodes took the luster off Uso's first successful title defense. Next, Uso will team with Cody Rhodes to face John Cena and Logan Paul at Money in the Bank on June 7. Two nights later, he'll face Gunther in a rematch on the June 9 episode of Raw. Another strong win over 'The Ring General' could cement Uso's credibility heading into SummerSlam—WWE's second-biggest event—where he's expected to play a major role. More from
