MIDC to acquire 3,500 acre for JSW Group steel plant in Gadchiroli
Nagpur: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has initiated the process to acquire close to 3,500 acres for JSW Group's steel project in Gadchiroli. This follows the announcement by JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal that the group will set up the world's largest integrated steel plant in the district. The land parcel has been identified in the Wadsa taluka of the Maoism-affected district, said a source privy to the development. In terms of area, this will be the biggest land acquisition in the Maoist district, which the state plans to develop as a steel hub. The process has been initiated, and a formal proposal to be put up before the state govt is close to finalisation. The majority of the area is private land, apart from some patches of forest, the source said. The next step includes issuing a notification, intimating the locals, and starting joint measurement. So far, no formal communication has been made to the locals. It will only happen after the proposal is approved by the state govt, said the source. Since some of the villages in the district are covered under the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA), a resolution approving the acquisition is also likely to be needed, the source said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo In February this year, Jindal announced the plan to set up a steel plant when he attended an event, Advantage Vidarbha, patronised by Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari. Jindal said the plant will have a capacity of 25 million tonnes per year and will be built at an investment of Rs1 lakh crore. The single plant by Jindal will surpass the total capacity of the public sector undertaking Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), which stands at 18 million tonnes at present. JSW's own capacity will be doubled by the plant. The state govt plans to build Gadchiroli as a steel hub. At present, Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited is also building an integrated steel plant and recently got environmental clearance for expanding the capacity of its iron ore mine. Another company, Surjagad Ispat, also has plans for a steel plant in southern Gadchiroli.

Gastroenterologist recommends the ‘best oils' for gut health; check out his top 3 picks
After sharing the three best herbs for gut health, Harvard-trained gastroenterologist Dr Saurabh Sethi listed the 'best oils' for cooking your food. According to him, one of the best options is EVOO, or extra-virgin olive oil, which he calls an excellent oil due to its rich content of monounsaturated fats that help reduce the risk of heart disease by improving cholesterol levels. 'Relatively low smoke point, making it suitable for light to medium heat cooking,' he shared on YouTube. Dr Vikas Jindal, consultant, Department of Gastroenterology, CK Birla Hospital, Delhi, concurred and stated that this recommendation is well-supported by scientific evidence. 'Extra virgin olive oil is high in monounsaturated fats, particularly oleic acid, and contains polyphenols, plant-based antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the gut. These compounds have been shown to protect the intestinal lining, promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, and reduce the risk of chronic digestive disorders like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD),' said Dr Jindal. Moreover, Dr Jindal stated that several studies, including those on the Mediterranean diet, have consistently shown that regular consumption of olive oil is associated with improved digestive health, reduced gut permeability (also known as leaky gut), and enhanced microbial diversity. Another one is avocado oil, which has a 'high smoke point,' making it ideal for high-heat cooking methods like deep frying or air frying. 'Avocado oil, with its high monounsaturated fat content and high smoke point, is suitable for both raw and cooked dishes, offering similar gut-friendly benefits,' said Dr Jindal. Flaxseed oil, which has a high content of omega-3 fatty acids, is a good choice. 'Omega-3s have heart-healthy and anti-inflammatory properties. If you don't consume fatty fish, this is a great option,' he shared. While agreeing that flaxseed oil is high in plant-based omega-3 fatty acids (ALA), known to reduce inflammation and improve bowel regularity, Dr Jindal remarked that it 'should not be heated and is best consumed raw.' When these oils are not readily available, the two best alternatives are coconut oil and ghee, according to Dr Sethi. Despite being saturated fats, they offer health benefits, antioxidants, and keep you satiated. However, ensure to consume in moderate amounts,' said Dr Sethi. While higher in saturated fats, Dr Jindal concurred that they are more stable at high temperatures and may support digestion in moderation, especially ghee, which contains butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that nourishes gut cells. JSW Group to increase stake in JSW MG Motor India amid SAIC's exit from Indian Market
JSW Group plans to raise its stake in JSW MG Motor India , its car manufacturing joint venture with SAIC Motor . The Chinese company has decided against committing further capital to India, instead prioritising investments at home and in Europe. Parth Jindal, director of JSW MG, told ET the group wants to come in as the single largest shareholder in the maker Hector SUV and Windsor EV . Currently, JSW MG is a 51:49 joint venture, with JSW owning 35 per cent, Indian financial institutions 8 per cent, MG Motor India dealers 3 per cent, and JSW MG Motor India employees 5 per cent. The remaining 49 per cent is with SAIC, which will continue to extend technology and brand support, he added. Alongside, the Sajjan Jindal-led group has finalised two separate licensing pacts—one each for electric passenger and commercial vehicles—with Chinese automakers, as it pushes ahead with its ambition of emerging as a full-spectrum electric mobility company. Jindal didn't name the Chinese firms. 'SAIC has made it clear they are not committing additional capital to India right now. Their focus is China and Europe. We have put our hands up, saying we would be interested in investing… Their stake would get diluted,' he said, adding that the additional stake purchase would be funded through internal accruals. On the size of JSW's stake in the automaker post the infusion and the timeframe, Jindal said, 'Those talks are still on, but we want to come in as a clear, single largest shareholder." Jindal was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of MG Select, JSW MG's first exclusive EV showroom for its premium offerings. The company is expanding its EV footprint as part of its localisation and brand development efforts. It plans to open 13 more Select outlets over the next year. Simultaneously, JSW is proceeding with plans to launch its own EVs in the coming years. Its electric trucks and buses are slated to debut in early 2026, and electric passenger cars in the first half of 2027. The conglomerate has signed non-equity licensing deals for both ventures with Chinese automakers, involving upfront fees and per-unit royalties, while committing to full localisation in India. 'There is no equity arrangement. It's a pure licensing agreement. We will pay a licensing fee and royalty per vehicle but will localise production from the start,' said Jindal. He said the commercial vehicle range will sport a new brand name, while passenger EVs will be sold under the JSW brand. A dedicated manufacturing facility for the former is under development. JSW is forging licensing agreements with Chinese automakers amid longstanding geopolitical tensions with Beijing. The latter has recently curbed exports of rare earth magnets to India, crucial for industries like automobiles and consumer electronics. 'One thing is very clear—the technology for affordable new energy vehicles resides in China. No other country can match what they've achieved. That said, we're aware of the geopolitical tensions, which is why we're focusing on localising manufacturing,' said Jindal. 'The partnerships we've entered are strictly for technology licensing- —to get the know-how, not to rely on imports," he said. For instance, he said, the Windsor EV was launched with less than 30 per cent localisation but by this year-end, it will touch 72 per cent, and the plan is to take it close to 90 per cent.
