Jindal Steel commissions first Galvanising Line at Angul Plant
Jindal Steel has just achieved a major milestone by launching its first Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL 1) at the Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha. This isn't just a new addition—it's a big move that expands the company's range of coated steel products and brings more advanced options to the Indian market. With this new line, Jindal Steel is now rolling out galvanised and galvalume steel under its trusted Jindal Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME brands. These products are designed to meet the needs of a wide range of industries—from cars and home appliances to infrastructure projects and modern construction. CGL 1 is a cutting-edge setup. It can process steel sheets as thin as 0.15 mm and as wide as 1400 mm, offering top-notch precision and consistent quality. The Jindal Panther range includes everything from full hard to skin-passed galvanised steel—ideal for making things like air conditioners, white goods, electrical panels, ducting systems, silos, vehicle bodies, and storage units. It's also a great base material for PPGI (pre-painted galvanised iron), which is widely used in today's construction world. Meanwhile, the ZINKALUME range features galvalume steel coated with a mix of aluminium, silicon, and zinc. This blend enhances corrosion resistance and heat durability, making the products perfect for applications like refrigerator backs, solar panel structures, fuel tanks, and PPGL sheets. The line is also capable of producing thinner HR galvanised coils, targeted at industries such as tubes, tank farms, silos, and pre-engineered buildings. Additionally, it will cater to the automotive sector with high-strength galvanised steel suited for underbody components. But Jindal Steel isn't stopping here. The company has its sights set on a major capacity boost at Angul, with an additional 6 million tonnes per annum of crude steel production lined up for this year. By the end of 2025, the plant is expected to hit a total capacity of 12 MTPA, making it one of the biggest single-location steel plants in the country.
