Tom Brady Takes Swipe At Ex-Wife Gisele Bündchen Over Divorce In Letter About Being A 'Great Parent'

Tom Brady has taken a subtle dig at his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, as he reflects on their family dynamics and how his "dedication" to football showed his commitment to providing for their kids. Bündchen was said to have advised Brady to retire from football, citing concerns for his health and the need for him to spend more time with her and their children. Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have since split, with the supermodel going on to welcome a child with her boyfriend Joaquim Valente. Tom Brady Takes A Dig At Gisele Bündchen In Newsletter Brady seemingly took a swipe at his supermodel ex-wife Bündchen while reflecting on their family life in a newsletter shared with fans. The NFL legend tied the knot with the Brazilian-born beauty in 2009 but split in 2022 amid what seemed to be disagreement over Brady's retirement from football. At the time, Bündchen repeatedly hinted that she was unhappy at how Brady focused on the game at the cost of their family, and this was seemingly made worse after he came out of retirement. Brady has now shared that he saw his career as a major part of being a good father to his children, which is quite the opposite of how Bündchen saw it. "I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family," Brady wrote, per the Daily Mail. "I chose to do it by playing football." He continued: "My dedication to the sport, the hours of practice, the moments when I was laser focused - those were times when I believe I was doing the best possible thing for my family and my kids, by prioritizing my profession and teaching, by example, what it takes to be really good at your job, what it takes to follow through on commitments, what it takes to be a great teammate; and showing them, also by example, that work is a big part of all of our lives." Tom Brady: 'Reading Bedtime Stories' And 'Helping With Homework' Are Not The Only Ways To Be A 'Great Parent' While he was still active on the field, Brady often heaped praise on Bündchen for being a solid rock for their family. The pair share two children: Benjamin and Vivian, while Brady has another son, Jack, from a previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan. Now, in his letter, he seemingly teased that either of their individual efforts may not be the "only ways to be a great parent." "Remember, your children are watching everything. They see what you do in every aspect of your life and how you do it," he said. "Reading bedtime stories and helping them with homework are not the only ways to be a great parent. And neither is winning Super Bowls or MVPs." Brady added, "Being a great football player didn't make me a great dad, but how I became a great player certainly had an impact - from showing up day in and day out, to doing whatever it took to get better, be successful, be a role model, and to provide." The NFL Star Admits No One Is 'Perfect' Brady finished up his letter by admonishing fans to give themselves more grace, as nobody is "perfect." "You won't be perfect. Nobody is," he said. "You will fail and disappoint people along the way. But if you stay committed to your goals over time, even when your priorities shift (which they do at times), then you can be confident that you are living a life of integrity and purpose." "Your actions reflect your priorities. That's what you need to live up to every day," he added. Did Gisele Bündchen Want Tom Brady To Stay Away From Football? Bündchen allegedly disliked Brady's continued participation in sports and reportedly advised him to retire the first time, as she feared for his health and wanted him to spend more time with the family. "Obviously, I have my concerns - this is a very violent sport, and I have my children, and I would like him to be more present," she told Elle in September 2022. "I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for (them). He needs to follow his joy, too." Since their split, Brady and Bündchen have faced some issues, especially when their marriage was put on blast during his Netflix roast last year. He has since described the show as his "f-ck up" as a parent after seeing the impact it had on his kids. Tom Brady Regretted His Netflix Roast Speaking about the effect of the Netflix roast on his family, Brady appeared to express regret, noting how hard it was on his children. "It was tough on my kids for sure," Brady said during an appearance on the "Impaulsive" podcast when asked if he regretted doing it. "You don't know what to expect, and I love laughing at myself; it felt like I was in the locker room. And the harder people go at me, I'll actually love it." "If people make fun of you, then I know I'm good with them. And I don't take myself too seriously, but I do understand that for my kids, that was really hard," he continued. Brady then added, "There are some things as a parent you f-ck up and you don't realize until after. We're not perfect parents. There's no perfect manual for it, and you have to evaluate yourself as a parent too, all the time." Bündchen has since started a relationship with boyfriend Joaquim Valente and welcomed her first child with him earlier this year. Solve the daily Crossword

Gisele Bündchen is loving life with her family. On Wednesday, July 23, the mother of three checked in with fans on social media with a new set of photos that included rare snaps of her youngest, whom she shares with boyfriend Joaquim Valente. It was her first post since May 27. 'Haven't been around here much, but I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the warm birthday wishes,' the model wrote as her Instagram caption after celebrating her 45th birthday on July 20. She started her carousel off with a photo of her standing beside a loved one as they both smiled, holding cakes indoors. Bündchen continued, 'I'm so grateful for another trip around the sun and even more grateful to have spent it in nature, surrounded by love and my family.' Gisele Bundchen gives rare look at baby son with boyfriend Joaquim Valente as she celebrates 45th birthday

Gisele Bündchen gave her 22.9 million Instagram followers a rare glimpse of her baby son on Wednesday. She shares the tot, who is around five months old, with her Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor–turned–boyfriend, Joaquim Valente. The baby boy looked adorable as he sat on his mother's lap in a sweet photo taken outside in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of her home country of Brazil. She had ventured south of the border after she was recently seen making a risky move while on a stroll near her home in Florida with her son. Gisele's son — whose name has not yet been publicly revealed — joined her as she celebrated her 45th birthday with family members surrounding her. Among them was her fraternal twin sister Patricia, who beamed while posing with Gisele as they held matching birthday cakes. The sisters' birthday is on July 20, but Gisele noted in a tribute that their late mother's birthday was on July 23, the day she shared the post. Their birthday celebrations took place in the midst of a gorgeous forest, and the supermodel shared another stunning photo in which she held her young son harnessed to her chest as she explored the wilderness while gazing at a picturesque waterfall in the distance. While Gisele's son — whose middle name is reportedly 'River' — wasn't old enough to get his mother a present, he was still able to give her a sweet card after getting a bit of help. The catwalk star included a sweet card reading 'Happy Birthday Mom!!!' in Brazilian Portuguese, but it was signed with her son's cute foot print that looked as if it could have been made with burgundy-colored paint, or perhaps a jam or berry purée. Gisele shares two older children with her ex-husband Tom Brady: her son Benjamin, 15, and her daughter Vivian, 12. She also has a 17-year-old stepson Jack, whom her ex shares with his former partner, Bridget Moynahan. Another photo from Gisele's nature explorations showed her grasping the arm of a young girl, who appeared from behind to be Vivian. They stopped to admire a smaller waterfall tucked away in the trees. Gisele revealed that her boyfriend Joaquim had joined her for the family trip. He stood next to her and held their son, whose face was again covered up with a white heart, as they posed for a large family photo at an outdoor dining table on a wooden deck. Tucked in with her photos was a gorgeous black-and-white portrait of Gisele's mother Vânia Nonnenmacher, to whom she looks nearly identical. 'Haven't been around here much, but I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the warm birthday wishes,' Gisele wrote in her caption. 'I'm so grateful for another trip around the sun and even more grateful to have spent it in nature, surrounded by love and my family. 'Today is also my mom's birthday. We miss her deeply, but we know she's always with us. I continue to trust and welcome life with an open heart, holding gratitude for all that is still to come,' Gisele continued. 'Sending love to everyone ❤️.' The Brazilian model's mother died at age 75 in January 2024 from cancer. Gisele has been focused on raising her family in recent years after retiring from the runway back in 2016. In May, she revealed that her life was starting to settle down again after she welcome her son in February. 'Now that my little one is sleeping through the night, I'm back in control of my routine,' she shared with Vogue France in May. 'As any new mom knows, it's incredible how much sleep — or lack of it — can change everything! But once again, I feel truly grateful: being able to be home with my kids and enjoy every moment with them is priceless.' Gisele's relationship with Joachim began professional in 2021, when she and her children began taking jiu-jitsu classes at the center he runs with his brother. Then, in October 2022, she and her husband Tom announced that they were divorcing. Gisele and Joaquim courted scandal when she were pictured traveling together to Costa Rica in November 2022, just two weeks after her rapid divorce was finalized. However, she denied ever having an affair with the 35-year-old martial arts instructor during her 13-year-old marriage to the football icon.
