Baby shower erupted into brawl when dart legend Jocky Wilson's niece ripped out gran-to-be's hair – but she avoids jail
A BABY shower erupted into a savage brawl when dart legend Jocky Wilson's niece ripped out the gran-to-be's hair. Mum-to-be Chantelle Wilson was celebrating the imminent arrival of her baby daughter with partner Ben Ritchie the bash spiralled into a punch-up. 6 6 6 Her mum Sarah Wilson, 45, attacked Pamela Ritchie - the dad-to-be's mum - by pulling her hair and punching her. Chantelle's sister Chardonnay Wilson, 20, lashed out at Ben's grandmother, who later claimed her feeding tube was removed. Sarah Wilson and daughter Chardonnay are the niece and great-niece of late World Professional Darts Championship winner Jocky Wilson. But Sarah avoided jail after pleading guilty to assault and was instead ordered to pay £500 compensation to the victim. Her daughter was given an absolute discharge, which in Scottish law means the offence will not go on her record despite a conviction. It came after her solicitor claimed a conviction would end Chardonnay's career as a carer. Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard the two families had gathered at Lochore Miners' Welfare Social Club in Fife on May 18 last year. At first, everyone seemed to be getting on "fine" but the mood turned sour following a game of "Would Mummy Rather". One question was asked about whether Chantelle would rather "put a bottle on for the baby or open a bottle of wine'. The court heard someone from dad-to-be Ben's family then yelled out she would open the wine, which caused Chantelle to become "upset". Chardonnay Wilson said her mum Sarah and Ben's mum Pamela were 'arguing back and forward'. She added: 'My mum told her they could speak any other day but not to spoil the occasion." But the court heard more rowing broke out during a game of "Baby Bingo" after apparent sexual comments were heard. A punch up then unfolded outside the venue after an alleged abusive remark was aimed at the Wilsons. Sheriff Susan Duff said: "Mrs Ritchie's evidence was that she was left with a bald section on her head as a chunk of hair had been pulled out." Sarah Wilson pleaded guilty to assault, while Chardonnay was convicted following a trial. She still denies removing Yvonne Ritchie's feeding tube and punching and kicking the gran-to-be. Sarah's solicitor Stephen Morrison said: 'This was a baby shower celebration that turned sour for one reason or another. "She absolutely regrets the incident and she hadn't been drinking that day. "She continues to have a relationship with her daughter's partner but not with the rest of his family. There's no reason to believe there will be a repetition of this behaviour as she's not likely to put herself into another family situation like this.' Jocky Wilson was world champion in 1982 and 1989 and one of the biggest stars of the games. He retired in 1995 and died at the age of 62 in 2012. 6 6 6

Baby shower row leaves mum with bald patch after ‘bingo' game turns sour
Sarah Wilson, 45, from Kirkcaldy, who is the niece of darts legend Jocky Wilson, appeared in court over a fight at a baby shower with two members of another family A niece of darts legend and former world champion Jocky Wilson pulled the hair of a woman allegedly leaving her with a bald patch as a baby shower party turned into a scrap. Sarah Wilson, 45, appeared for sentence after feuding families turned the pre-birth celebrations into chaos and she has been ordered to pay £500 compensation. The party last May at Lochore Miners Welfare Institute in Lochore, Fife, took place before Sarah Wilson's daughter Chantelle gave birth. During a trial last month, Wilson from Kirkcaldy admitted assaulting Pamela Ritchie by seizing her by the hair. Her other daughter Chardonnay, 20, was found guilty of assaulting a 61-year-old gran by attempting to remove a feeding tube. The trial heard there was growing hostility between the two families in the run up to the get-together. Light-hearted games such as 'Baby Bingo' were ruined by offensive comments fired back and forward across the hall and the bad feeling escalated to violence outside the hall, reported the Daily Record. There were the claims about abusive comments aimed at the Wilsons being written on a paper plate. In an earlier game one guest suggested Chantelle would rather open a bottle of wine than a bottle for the baby. Sarah Wilson's solicitor Stephen Morrison said yesterday: 'This was a baby shower celebration that turned sour for one reason or another. She absolutely regrets the incident and she hadn't been drinking that day. "She continues to have a relationship with her daughter's partner but not with the rest of his family. There's no reason to believe there will be a repetition of this behaviour as she's not likely to put herself into another family situation like this.' The solicitor said his client suffered from physical and mental health issues, receives over £2,000 a month in benefits and was unfit to do unpaid work. He said Sarah Wilson had two previous convictions for similar offences and one of these in particular was 'not insignificant'. Sheriff Susan Duff commented: "Mrs Ritchie's evidence was that she was left with a bald section on her head as a chunk of hair had been pulled out." The sheriff ordered £500 compensation to be paid to the victim and added she was unimpressed by Wilson's reaction in the dock. She told Wilson's lawyer she would have to return to court in November make sure the money had been paid, adding: 'Your client's face said an awful lot about what she thought of the sentence.' Although found guilty, Sheriff Duff had previously granted Chardonnay Wilson an absolute discharge as a conviction on her record would have ended her career as a carer for the elderly. Jocky Wilson, from Kirkcaldy, was world champion in 1982 and 1989 and one of the biggest stars of the games. He retired to Kirkcaldy in 1995 and died at the age of 62 in 2012.

Niece of darts legend Jocky Wilson is ordered to pay compensation to woman after brawl at family baby shower
A fight erupted between two mothers after a baby shower 'turned sour', a court heard. The assault, carried out by Sarah Wilson, the niece of darts legend Jocky Wilson, ended in Pamela Ritchie having a chunk of hair ripped out of her head. A court heard how the fight arose as barbed comments were traded between the two families at the baby shower as tensions were fuelled by games including 'Baby Bingo'. Wilson, 45, appeared for sentencing yesterday after previously admitting to assaulting Ms Ritchie at Lochore Miners' Welfare Institute in Fife in May last year. Her daughter Chardonnay, 20, was also found guilty of assaulting 61-year-old Mrs Ritchie. A trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard there was growing hostility between the relatives of the couple holding the baby shower party. Light-hearted games such as 'Baby Bingo' were said to have been ruined by offensive comments fired back and forward across the hall. Sarah Wilson's solicitor, Stephen Morrison said: 'This was a baby shower celebration that turned sour for one reason or another. 'She absolutely regrets the incident and she hadn't been drinking that day. She continues to have a relationship with her daughter's partner but not with the rest of his family. 'There's no reason to believe there will be a repetition of this behaviour as she's not likely to put herself into another family situation like this.' The solicitor said his client suffers from physical and mental health issues, receives over £2,000 a month in benefits and was unfit to do unpaid work. Sheriff Susan Duff pointed out that Wilson had only submitted her guilty plea after Mrs Ritchie, had given evidence to her trial. She said: 'Mrs Ritchie's evidence was that she was left with a bald section on her head as a chunk of hair had been pulled out.' The sheriff ordered £500 compensation to be paid to the victim and said she was unimpressed by Wilson's reaction in the dock, telling Mr Morrison: 'Your client's face said an awful lot about what she thought of the sentence.' Chardonnay Wilson, of Kirkcaldy, Fife, was previously found guilty of a charge that she assaulted Mrs Ritchie by attempting to seize her essential nasogastric feeding tube. In her evidence, she told the court the event had started at 1pm and was a baby shower for her sister Chantelle, ahead of the birth of her daughter, which happened a fortnight later. She said the two families were sitting at different tables and 'at first it was fine'. However, tensions mounted during a game called 'Would Mummy Rather'. She explained that there was a question 'would mummy rather put a bottle on for the baby or open a bottle of wine?'. She said someone from the dad-to-be's family shouted out that the new mum would open a bottle of wine. Chardonnay Wilson told the court: 'Chantelle got upset and everything started to escalate from there,' She described how her mother and Mrs Ritchie were 'arguing back and forward'. The court was told there was more arguing during a game of 'Baby Bingo' and allegations about various sexual comments being heard. Although found guilty, Sheriff Duff granted Chardonnay Wilson an absolute discharge as a conviction on her record would have ended her career as a carer for elderly and vulnerable people.

Mystery question that led to punch up at baby shower with family of darts star
Relatives of darts star Jocky Wilson were involved in a family punch up at a Fife baby shower which saw one grandmother claim she had her feeding tube dislodged Relatives of an all-star darts player became embroiled in a baby shower brawl after a 16-word, initially innocent-seeming question was floated during the celebration. A party thrown at Lochore Miners' Welfare Social Club in Fife, Scotland, held on May 18 last year to celebrate the impending arrival of Chantelle Wilson's baby daughter had gotten off to a good start, with family members happily chattering and playing games. But the event turned sour when some of the games were used to throw insults. A punch-up at the club landed the expectant mum's mother Sarah Wilson and her sister Chardonnay - both relatives of Scots darts legend Jocky Wilson - in court after the expectant dad's mum was punched and his grandmother claimed her essential feeding tube was dislodged. The hearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court in Lochore, Fife, heard all was "fine" at first as the two families sat at different tables, but moods soured during a gave of "Would Mummy Rather". One baby shower attendee brazenly asked: "Would mummy rather put a bottle on for the baby or open a bottle of wine?". The question, Chardonnay Wilson told the court, left her sister "upset" and "everything started to escalate from there" with arguments being traded back and forth before her mum Sarah said: "They could speak any other day but not to spoil the occasion." The arguments came to a head when allegations of abusive sexual comments were made during a game of "Baby Bingo", with rows only increasing in intensity until they broke out into a fully-fledged assault outside the shower venue. Chardonnay was found guilty of assaulting Yvonne Ritchie, the grandma of father-to-be Ben, who alleged her essential feeding tube was dislodged during the violence. The court also heard that Sarah Wilson of Kirkcaldy allegedly assaulted Pamela Ritchie by grabbing her hair and repeatedly punching her on the body. She reacted angrily when asked about her relation to Jocky Wilson by the Daily Record, saying: "I'm Jocky Wilson's niece and Chardonnay is his great niece but that has nothing to do with any of this." Chardonnay, who was found guilty of assault, was handed an absolute discharge by a sheriff after her solicitor Gino Gambale argued the conviction would end her career as a carer. She denies having ever assaulted Ms Ritchie, saying she "didn't touch her feeding tube and I didn't pull her feeding tube out. I didn't do anything. It took three of them to try and attack me". Sarah admitted to assaulting Pamela Ritchie by seizing her by the hair and repeatedly punching her on the body. Chantelle Wilson broke her silence on the events at her baby shower last year in a post earlier this month. Writing on Facebook, she said she had "kept my mouth closed for nearly a year", and that "finally this nightmare is over with". She added that she is still with her partner, saying: "Me and my family KNOW THE TRUTH!!! I can say a lot more but I don't need to explain myself to anyone just shows though me and Ben are still together even after all of this."
