Boy, 15, charged with shooting 3 other teens in Joliet, Illinois
A teenage boy was charged with shooting three other teens early Sunday morning in Joliet, Illinois. The 15-year-old from Joliet was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Joliet police said around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of South Ottawa Street for reports of three people who were shot. Arriving officers spoke with the residents, who told them the victims were taken to the hospital. A 16-year-old from Joliet was airlifted to Loyola Children's Hospital in critical condition. Police said his condition was stabilized. A 14-year-old from University Park was driven to Loyola Children's Hospital in unknown condition, and their condition was also stabilized. The third victim, also a 16-year-old from Joliet, was treated and discharged. Investigators identified the 15-year-old as a person of interest and took him to the Joliet Police Department. It was then revealed that he was the gunman who fired the gun. He was taken to the Will County River Valley Justice Center. Police said the scene remains active as investigators continue to collect additional evidence. The shooting was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public. Man killed, 2 women critical after head-on crash in Joliet, police say
A man was killed and two women were critically hurt after a head-on crash Saturday evening in Joliet, Illinois. Joliet police said just before 7 p.m., officers responded to Black Road and Magnolia Drive for a report of a traffic crash with injuries. Preliminary investigation indicated that a Buick Regal driven by a 57-year-old Joliet man was heading westbound on Black Road approaching Magnolia Drive. It is believed that the Regal veered left into an eastbound lane of Black Road, hitting a Buick Encore driven by a 68-year-old woman head-on. The Regal then hit a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 26-year-old man also heading eastbound on Black Road. The driver of the Buick Regal was taken to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Will County Coroner's Office will determine the identity of the deceased driver and the manner of death. The Encore driver and passenger, a 69-year-old woman from Lake Station, Indiana, were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in critical condition. The Chevrolet driver was not hurt. Investigators temporarily closed the roadway to reconstruct the scene. The crash remains under investigation. Dramatic rescue from Joliet apartment fire caught on body cam video
Joliet police released body cam video that shows a dramatic rescue at a burning apartment building in the southwest suburbs Tuesday. Seven people were injured when the building at 115 Essington Road caught fire. They arrived to find flames shooting out of the building and heavy smoke coming from the attic. Joliet police and firefighters rushed to save a family trapped on their third-floor balcony. In the body cam video you can see a man hit the ground after jumping from the balcony, though he appears to be OK. Rescuers then scale a ladder to save a little girl. After grabbing her, you can see them go back to get the girl's mother down the ladder. The video then shows them going back into the burning building evacuate any residents still inside. Only minor injuries were reported and all residents of the apartment building are accounted for. The Joliet Office of Emergency and Disaster Management is working with the residents who have been displaced.
