T-Mobile Donates $500,000 to Support Flood-Relief Efforts in Kerr County, Texas

Company supporting Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country's Kerr County Flood Relief Fund; continuing with on-the-ground response and providing enhanced connectivity for first responders BELLEVUE, Wash., July 09, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To aid in response and recovery efforts related to the catastrophic flash flooding that has devastated Kerr County and surrounding Central Texas communities, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) is making a $500,000 donation to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country's Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. The donation will support the Foundation's efforts to fund trusted local organizations providing rescue, relief and recovery services in the communities of Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point and Comfort. T-Mobile will also offer the company's employees a 2:1 employee match for donations to the Relief Fund through July 23, tripling the impact of employee giving. "T-Mobile is doing what we can to show up for our neighbors in Central Texas — keeping those who have been impacted by these devasting floods connected, aiding our heroic first responders and offering support on the ground through our teams and local organizations," said Jon Freier, President of T-Mobile's Consumer Group. "We're incredibly grateful to our teams and partners and continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Texans who are dealing with the unimaginable." In addition to this donation, T-Mobile's teams have been on the ground in the area since Saturday, July 5 providing Wi-Fi, charging and supplies at T-Mobile stores and other local locations to community members and first responders. While T-Mobile's network continues to be fully operational in the region, the company has deployed assets in the area to enhance coverage for first responders, including a Satellite Cell on Light Truck (SatCOLT) for coverage at the Unified Command Center in Kerrville. The company is also continuing to work with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and supporting search-and-rescue drone missions in partnership with local agencies to capture aerial imagery for assessment. Additionally, the company temporarily enabled its T-Satellite with Starlink service for T-Mobile customers starting on Sunday, July 6 to deliver basic SMS messaging, text-to-911 and emergency alerts across Kerr, Kendall, Llano, Travis and Comal counties. T-Mobile is giving away more money and your area might be the winner

Every now and then, the big carriers try to score some goodwill points – and right now, it is T-Mobile's turn to step up. After rolling out 25 Hometown Grant winners earlier this year, the Un-carrier is back at it again with another round. Each of the new recipients is getting up to $50,000 to put toward community-driven projects – things like renovating local landmarks, reviving public spaces or just giving parts of town a much-needed refresh. In total, T-Mobile says it has now invested nearly $18 million into this initiative, spreading the help across 48 states and Puerto Rico. The latest batch brings the total number of small towns getting a boost to 400 since the program kicked off in 2021. According to the company, the program has already helped over 2.4 million people, inspired more than 160,000 volunteer hours and led to the creation of over 1,200 jobs. It is a pretty solid impact and naturally, T-Mobile is happy to let everyone know. – Jon Freier, President, T-Mobile Consumer Group, June 17, 2025 Want to know if your town made the cut this time? T-Mobile dropped a video with the full list and if you spot your city in there, well, congrats. Video credit – T-Mobile One example from this round: Reedley, California is using its grant to give the 120-year-old Reedley Opera House stage a makeover. The goal is to support youth programs, make the arts more accessible, and give downtown Reedley a bit of a spark. Sure, $50K won't turn the place into Broadway, but for small towns, every bit helps. These grants aren't handed out randomly, either. T-Mobile works with Main Street America, a nonprofit focused on local economies, to vet applications based on impact, feasibility and what each project can realistically actually, the Hometown Grants program isn't just about parks and murals. T-Mobile says it has already funneled nearly $5.3 million into projects that support small businesses specifically – trying to grow those local economies from the ground up. And outside of the grants, T-Mobile 's still pushing programs like Project 10Million, which provides free internet access and hotspots to eligible student households to help close the digital divide – another way the company says it's trying to support underserved communities. Of course, T-Mobile is not the only one doing this type of outreach. Every major carrier pulls a move like this once in a while. Verizon, for example, recently announced a $5 billion commitment to investing in America and helping small businesses. And yeah, these gestures don't exactly erase customer frustrations, but they do help companies earn back some public favor. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! The Un-carrier powers progress in small towns nationwide with 25 new recipients joining the list, supporting projects from adaptive playgrounds to historic downtown revitalizations BELLEVUE, Wash., June 17, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) today unveiled the next 25 towns to receive a Hometown Grant, bringing the total to 400 recipients since the Un-carrier kicked off its five-year commitment to small towns and rural communities in April 2021. T-Mobile removed Go5G plans from website and is encouraging customers on even older plans to upgrade

T-Mobile has taken an important step towards grandfathering Go5G plans. The company is also encouraging customers on even older plans to switch. Late last month, T-Mobile announced the Experience More and Experience Beyond plans. The company had hinted at that time that the Go5G Next and Go5G plans that the new plans were replacing would eventually be phased out. Around a week ago, a rumor said that the company was discouraging employees from activating Go5G and Go5G Plus for customers, fueling rumors that they were essentially no longer being offered. T-Mobile didn't comment on the rumor but said that nothing was changing for customers who were already on the plans. The company also said that the plans would remain available for a limited time. The plans are no longer available on the company's website. Wayback Machine shows they were available until at least April 29. They have not been retired apparently, with the website saying that you can still call T-Mobile or chat with them online to place your order. T-Mobile Consumer Group President Jon Freier had previously said that since Experience More and Experience Beyond offered everything that Go5G Plus or Go5G Next did, customers would not be missing out. Customers may not agree, since the new pricing for the new plan doesn't include taxes and other fees. The bottom line is that if you are on a Go5G plan, you will get to keep it, but it's going to be incredibly hard for new customers to sign up for them. T-Mobile is also trying to get customers on even older plans, such as Magenta Max, to migrate to Go5G Plus, insisting they can get more benefits at no extra cost. The customers who switch will be upgraded for the same price they pay right now, meaning their monthly bill will not be going up. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to get a new device for up to$830 off. Most customers will be better off if they switch, considering they will get more perks and benefits. Some customers are skeptical of the offer, claiming T-Mobile is trying to encourage people who didn't witness price hikes to invalidate their price lock guarantee. That's not necessarily true, as T-Mobile raised prices for many customers who thought they were protected by the price lock commitment, possibly bringing their bill up to the same level as Go5G customers. It's also not clear if all their discounts would transfer. We've reached out to T-Mobile for a comment and will update the story when we have a response.
