Blue Jays Make Myles Straw Announcement After Leaving Diamondbacks Game

Blue Jays Make Myles Straw Announcement After Leaving Diamondbacks Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Myles Straw has been exactly what he's supposed to be this season: a reliable defender and serviceable contact hitter. The 2022 Gold Glove Award winner came into Tuesday's matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks slashing .264/.294/.339 with one homer and 14 RBI over 58 games, and he had yet to record an error in the field. Advertisement Fellow outfielder Jonatan Clase started in center on Tuesday, with Straw on the bench. However, Clase got drilled in the knee by Brandon Pfaadt's pitch in the fourth inning, and Straw came in to replace his teammate. However, the veteran also hurt his right leg when he ran into the center field wall tracking down former Cleveland Guardians teammate Josh Naylor's fly ball, causing him to leave the game. Toronto later released a status update on him via its social media. Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Myles Straw (3)© John E. Sokolowski-Imagn Images "UPDATE: OF Myles Straw was removed from tonight's game with a right ankle sprain," it said. Straw was replaced by rookie outfielder Alan Roden. The latter player came into the game slashing .193/.267/.273 with one homer and eight RBI over 37 contests. Fellow outfielder Davis Schneider pinch-hit for Roden in the seventh and flied out to center. Neither Straw nor Roden had an at-bat. Advertisement Toronto's outfield depth will be tested depending on the severity of these injuries. Schneider came into the game slashing just .171/.356/.257 with one homer and two RBI over 17 games. Meanwhile, fellow outfielders Anthony Santander (shoulder), Daulton Varsho (hamstring), and Nathan Lukes (concussion) are all on the injured list.
