Keke Palmer Pulled Jonathan Majors Podcast Episode Because ‘People Felt It Was Insensitive'; Defends Interviewing Him: ‘I Don't Judge Nobody'

Keke Palmer recently appeared on 'The Breakfast Club' (via Entertainment Weekly) and explained why her podcast interview with Jonathan Majors was pulled before its online release. Majors was set to appear on an April episode of 'Baby, This Is Keke Palmer' during his press tour for 'Magazine Dreams.' The episode never dropped and Palmer put out an interview with rapper Kash Doll in its place, resulting in a lot of questions from fans. 'Obviously, Meagan is my girl,' Palmer said about Meagan Good, who married Majors this year. 'I've grown up loving her. She's honestly a mentor to me and a representation for all of us young Black women. I mean, I was happy for her to get married. I was excited to have the conversation.' 'You don't agree with everything they did, you don't love everything, but you got to have the conversation. You have to set the stage for them to speak and for people to watch and take what they want to take from it, so that's why I was open and excited to do the interview.' Majors was convicted of assault and harassment in a 2023 domestic violence case involving ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. He was sentenced to probation and an intervention program. The release of 'Magazine Dreams' in late March marked an acting comeback. Palmer said the team behind her podcast pulled the Majors episode 'based off of the reaction' of having Majors on as a guest, adding: 'People felt it was insensitive. I always want to be respectful and understand where everybody's coming from. If they're not going to feel like they're going to receive anything good from the interview, then okay, cool. But I sat down with the brother for us to talk and let him be heard. I mean, people sit down with serial killers.' 'I'm not comparing him to a serial killer,' Palmer continued. 'At the end of the day, I felt as a journalist, I'm supposed to talk and let the public decide how they want to feel. But that didn't get a chance to happen. I wish them all the best. I really want to say that because I don't judge nobody because I don't want to be judged. So at the end of the day, I'm happy for Meagan. I'm happy for them. Maybe one day, we get a chance to put [the podcast interview] out. I'm not sure.' Majors was found guilty in December 2023, derailing an acting career that reached new heights earlier that year with major villain roles in 'Creed III' and 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.' Majors was all set up to be the new Thanos-like villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conquerer. Marvel parted ways with him after the verdict. Keke Palmer Addressed What Happened That Jonathan Majors Interview After She Faced Major Backlash

Warning: This article contains discussion of abuse, assault, and domestic violence. Keke Palmer addressed what happened to that one interview with Jonathan Majors that had a lot of people upset. Michael Buckner / Variety via Getty Images, Robin L Marshall / Getty Images On a June 20 episode of The Breakfast Club, the One of Them Days actor explained why the controversial interview with Jonathan never came out following online backlash. An episode of Keke's podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer titled "No Easy Answers: Accountability and Moving Forward with Jonathan Majors" was set to premiere everywhere on April 8, and while it was available exclusively for Wondery+ users for a short time, it was ultimately shelved. The description of the deleted episode read, "Accountability. It's a loaded word, right? We're living in a time where we want real accountability—especially for things men have gotten away with for far too long. At the same time, finding forgiveness feels harder than ever, and we're still figuring out what true accountability even looks like." The caption continued, "Today, we're sitting down with Jonathan Majors to talk about what life has looked like after being convicted of harassment and assault. This conversation isn't here to give you all the answers—it's complicated, it's messy—but hopefully, it brings us a little closer to understanding the complex emotional landscape of the time we're living through." Related: 26 Pairs Of Celebrities Who Look Sooo Much Alike, It's A Little Uncanny When Keke first promoted the episode, it was met with criticism based on Jonathan being found guilty in 2023 on one count of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment against his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Jonathan has denied culpability and claimed in an interview that he was responsible for "none of her injuries." Since several celebrities have come out in support of Jonathan, including Whoopi Goldberg, who said, 'He was arrested. He went to court. He did what he was supposed to do. I'm not sure what else there is," per the Hollywood Reporter. It appeared that Jonathan's appearance as the cover star of the Hollywood Reporter and statements of support from actors like Matthew McConaughey and Michael B. Jordan were setting the stage for a comeback, and Keke's interview was going to give him a platform to defend himself, but it was never widely published after the backlash. Talking with Loren LoRosa, Jess Hilarious, and DJ Envy, Keke said she was initially excited to speak with Jonathan, especially following his marriage to actor Meagan Good. "Obviously, Meagan's my girl. I've grown up loving her," Keke said. "She's honestly a mentor, you know, to me and representation for all of us young, Black women. I mean, I was happy for her to get married. I was excited to have the conversation." But, in the end, the team around her felt it wasn't the best option to move forward with the episode, considering the reactions. "I think, ultimately, with my partners, it was just decided based off, I guess, the reactions. That people felt [the interview] was insensitive, that maybe we shouldn't put it out," she continued. "I mean, it's always there, I imagine, if people wanted to see it. But I always want to be respectful and understand where everybody's coming from. And you know, if they're not gonna feel like they're going to receive anything good from the interview, then okay, cool. But, you know, I sat down with the brother for us to talk and let him be heard." "I think this is the thing, too. For me, as a public figure and entertainer, when I'm doing my hosting, I'm here – y'all know – I'm here to be unbiased," she added. "Everybody that sits in your chair, you don't agree with everything that they did. You don't love everything they did, but you gotta have the conversation." Keke also appeared on Angela Yee's Way Up With Angela Yee, where she seemingly suggested she was game for the interview, but it was her team who had reservations. "It's not just me. I have partners," Keke said. "It was then suggested or decided that-- without throwing anybody under the bus-- we shouldn't put it out." "He was interviewing, and I felt like 'Hey, well let's hear it,'" Keke added, clarifying that her desire to speak with a guest doesn't mean she agrees with them. "Just because you're interviewing somebody doesn't mean you agree with everything," While you won't be able to catch that Jonathan Majors episode everywhere, you can check out Baby It's Keke Palmer wherever podcasts are available. Black Man Found Hanging From A Tree In New York, Police Call It Suicide

Source: WISH-TV / WISH-TV On June 11, a Black man was found hanging dead from a tree in Albany, New York. While police have labeled it a suicide, locals and people identifying themselves as family members of the man are skeptical. According to the Times Union, a call was made at around 8 a.m. last Wednesday, and officers found a body hanging from a tree on Westerlo Street. Videos circulated on social media showing the body, but were quickly taken down. When a Black man is hanging from a tree, the first thought is lynching, given America's sordid history with the practice, but local police were quick to push back against that narrative 'At this time, based upon preliminary investigation, the circumstances appear to be consistent with suicide and no evidence to suggest that the incident is criminal in nature,' a statement from Albany police reads. Locals have taken to social media and TikTok to express their disbelief at how little coverage the hanging has received in the local media. There's been skepticism over it being a cut-and-dry suicide given how little information has been released about the incident. In fact, most reporting on the case has come from locals doing their own digging into what happened. While police have not released the name of the man, social media posts and a GoFundMe page seem to point to the deceased being one Earl Smith. There are few confirmed, concrete details about the case, and we don't want to get into baseless speculation, but the lack of coverage and the alleged refusal to review camera footage is a bit suspect. Committing a crime in 2025 is somewhat foolish because there are cameras all over every city. I learned this during the Jonathan Majors trial when footage was released showing the assault and chase from several different camera angles throughout the city. It shouldn't be hard to see exactly what led to this man's death. Looking at comments on TikTok's show that several Albany residents have expressed disbelief that the story hasn't received more coverage. 'I work in Albany and live in the area and haven't heard a single thing about this until now. How is nobody saying anything about it?,' wrote one commenter. America loves to espouse how racism doesn't exist anymore and that lynchings are a thing of the past, yet Sundown Towns still exist. Whether it's literally hanging or alleged extrajudicial killings by the police, lynching hasn't gone away. The attitudes that encourage this violence against Black people have only become more and more normalized. In fact, they run rampant within the current presidential administration. From the ongoing attacks on DEI, Stephen Miller's entire existence, to the Pentagon's Chief Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson making several social media posts parroting the 'Great Replacement theory,' the most dangerous and insidious ideas of white supremacy are currently influencing the laws and policy that govern the country. Hate groups have gone down in America because the ideas they espouse have gone mainstream. In recent years, there have been several suspicious hangings of Black people that police label suicide, but have left family members questioning whether or not they were lynchings. Last year, Javion Magee was found hanging from a tree in North Carolina, and his deathwas labeled a suicide by police after video footage showed him buying a utility rope in a local Walmart. His family hired a private investigator and an independent medical examiner to see if their findings match the official police report. In 2020, a video went viral showing four white men attempting to lynch Vauhxx Booker during a July 4 celebration in Lake Monroe. Charges would be filed against the men, as well as Booker himself. The charges against all involved were dropped in 2022 after Booker and the two white men also charged in the case went through a restorative justice process. While we still don't know for certain what exactly led to this man's hanging in Albany, recent events have shown it's more than understandable why residents and the alleged family members are questioning whether or not it was a lynching.
