Mexico's Bimbo to invest $2 billion in the country through 2028
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -Mexican breadmaker Grupo Bimbo will invest $2 billion in seven Mexican states through 2028, Bimbo's Mexico head Jose Manuel Gonzalez said on Thursday during President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning press conference.
The investment will go towards strengthening Bimbo's infrastructure in the Latin American country, the executive said.
"We believe that we will not be affected if any tariffs are imposed by the U.S.," Gonzalez added when asked about the possible effects of U.S. tariffs on Mexican imports that are set to go into effect on August 1.
U.S. and Canada are Grupo Bimbo's primary market accounting for nearly 50% of its sales.
