Boston man wanted by police for six years finally sentenced

Zelekauskas, formerly of Taylor Close, Boston, previously admitted two charges of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and using threatening behaviour with intent to cause handing himself in he also admitted a third charge of failing to surrender to custody after spending 71 months at court heard on the day of the disturbance Zelekauskas was covered in blood and appeared to be drunk. A third man was also seen arming himself with a sentence, Judge James House KC said: "I appreciate it is now some seven years ago and I hope you are now ashamed how you behaved. But it is clear you were not the principal antagonist."Any incident involving waving a knife in the street is serious and you getting bricks and lobbing them at him only raised the temperature."In mitigation, Leanne Summers said the defendant finally went to police after learning they wanted to speak to judge questioned why Zelekauskas had not handed himself in sooner, telling the court it was "a bit of a mystery", but added: "I suspect when no-one came knocking, you put it to the back of your mind." A man who used a piece of wood and a whip to hit his own children has been jailed for seven years and five a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court, the defendant, who is from Grantham but cannot be named to protect the identities of his victims, admitted child cruelty against three children between 2015 and court was told two boys were subjected to repeated assaults, which became more frequent as they got older.A restraining order was also imposed preventing the defendant having any contact with his children for 10 years. Jon Dee, prosecuting, told the court the repeated incidents of violence were committed either in temper or as a of the boys was struck with a piece of wood to his arm and a girl was hit with a whip, the court was defendant admitted three charges of child cruelty, two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and one offence of criminal mitigation, Eddison Flint told the court: "The defendant's position has always been that this was not sadism, it was him acting as a disciplinarian."There is a degree of remorse from the defendant about what happened."Passing sentence, Judge James House KC told the court the cruelty only came to an end when the girl reported the incident with the whip to a friend."She described begging him to stop," Judge House said, adding that the "true impact" on the children may only be know when they reach maturity. A drink driver who was almost twice the legal limit when he caused a three-car crash that left a motorist seriously injured has been jailed for two and a half Barker, 26, lost control of his van after he clipped another car as he tried to overtake a lorry on a blind sweeping bend on the A15 near Hackthorn, Lincolnshire, in July Crown Court heard Barker, of Wolsey Way, Lincoln, remained on the wrong side of the road before colliding head-on with a Mini leaving the 22-year-old driver with "catastrophic injuries".Barker, who admitted a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has also been banned from driving for 39 months. Two other cars were also forced off the road during the crash, which happened at about 06:30 BST on 2 July, the court James House KC was told the 22-year-old driver required two operations afer suffering multiple fractures and bruising to his brain. 'Decent young man' When interviewed by police, Barker accepted he had been drinking the night before the collision but said his driving had not been impaired, the court heard.A toxicology report concluded he was at least nearly twice the legal limit at the time of the crash and an investigation found he had also sent a text message while driving, the judge was mitigation, Neil Sands described Barker as a "decent young man" who had no previous sentence, Judge House told the defendant he had no doubt his judgement had been impaired by alcohol."You knew you were late for work, you had sent a text to that effect," the judge added.
