Eagles' Jason Kelce Replacement Tabbed 'Player to Root For'
Eagles' Jason Kelce Replacement Tabbed 'Player to Root For' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Back in March 2024, Jason Kelce announced his retirement after 13 seasons as an anchor of the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line. After waiting his turn for a couple of years, Cam Jurgens finally got his chance to replace Kelce. All he did was go out and have a Pro Bowl season, and was rewarded with a contract extension that will keep him in Philly through 2029. Tom Blair of labeled Jurgens as one of his "players to root for" in 2025. "The Tush Push Era lives on, and I have to say, I have become fully push-pilled, seduced by the otherworldly proficiency with which the Eagles are able to steamroll their way to key conversions," Blair wrote. "One of the appealing elements of the play is the way in which it gives a more visible role to the O-linemen who tend to fall out of the frame otherwise -- like Jurgens, who handled the task of taking over for Jason Kelce with aplomb last season, earning his first career Pro Bowl nod. "If Jurgens continues to establish himself alongside his more veteran linemates like Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson, he can help the Eagles keep, erm, pushing the evolution of the game." Jurgens' four-year contract extension takes effect in 2026 and pays him $68 million with $39 million guaranteed. At $17 million per year, he's now the second-highest-paid center in the history of the league behind Kansas City's Creed Humphrey. Cam Jurgens gets a surprise and unexpected boost from national media
An NFL writer takes it upon himself to kickstart an unofficial Cam Jurgens fan club. There are so many Philadelphia Eagles hype videos released every NFL season and offseason that it's hard to remember each one's origin and location. One dropped last season that featured Jason Kelce as its narrator. One of the highlights was his mention of the City of Brotherly Love's connections to its player. In Kelce's words, "They (Philly sports fans) will love you in this city if you love it... If you don't like what the fans and the media are saying as a player, it's very easy. Love them. Treat them like your brother and go and play your (expletive) off." No one has ever had that issue with Cam Jurgens. Tom Blair places Cam Jurgens on the national radar Once upon a time, good offensive line play was only described by saying the following. If you don't mention them, they are doing a great job. Now, thanks to numerous analytical platforms, we often mention these companies, especially when they are doing something exceptional. Cam Jurgens joined the Eagles under a bit of pressure. He was handpicked to replace the great Jason Kelce. As if that isn't tough enough, Kelce signed off on him. He watched from the sidelines as a rookie. He played beside Kelce as Philadelphia's starting right guard in year two. Last season, after Kelce's retirement, he took over as the offensive line's anchor and center. Tom Blair is an original content editor at and recently, he took it upon himself to name one player to root for from each NFC team. Jurgens is the Philadelphia representative. "One of the appealing elements of the (Tush Push) is the way in which it gives a more visible role to the O-linemen who tend to fall out of the frame otherwise, like Jurgens, who handled the task of taking over for Jason Kelce with aplomb last season... If Jurgens continues to establish himself alongside his more veteran linemates like Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson, he can help the Eagles keep, erm, pushing the evolution of the game." We don't see any issues there. Jurgens earned his first Pro Bowl nod last season, but the highlight of his season came during the postseason in the NFC Championship Game. Hampered by a back injury that had plagued him for weeks, he was unable to start and watched from the sidelines while Landon Dickerson, also injured, took over. Rather than name Jurgens inactive, the Eagles kept him on deck just in case they needed him, and when Dickerson couldn't push his body any further, Jurgens indeed stepped in to help lead his team to the finish line. Those types of efforts don't produce any stats, but it was a heroic effort by both of them. Birds fans won't soon forget. He agreed to terms on a four-year, $68 million extension on April 21, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2030. Jurgens' workmanlike approach and talent have helped Eagles fans to buy in early. Keep an eye on him moving forward. The sky is the limit for this youngster. In a town like Philadelphia, offensive linemen are never anonymous, and this is absolutely one that you should root for.

Eagles' Cam Jurgens Ranked Most Cost-Effective NFL Player at $171K Per Win
Eagles' Cam Jurgens Ranked Most Cost-Effective NFL Player at $171K Per Win Super Bowl LIX Champion Cam Jurgens continues to be an asset to the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason. Not only was he part of a killer team that defeated the Kansas City Chiefs for their second-ever Super Bowl win, but he's proving to be the most cost-effective player in the NFL. A new study by revealed the Eagles' center represents the best value NFL signing, with each win costing the team only $171,547. The study analyzed NFL player contracts from 2022 and 2023. Researchers then calculated the cost per win by dividing the player's average annual salary by the number of wins their team achieved since signing. In this breakdown, Jurgens topped the list while edging out younger stars across the league. New Dallas Cowboys wide receiver (and NFC East rival) George Pickens comes in second at $177,689 per win. Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Luke Goedeke rounds out the top three at $181,735. All three players are still on rookie or early-career deals, making their performance on the field related to their salary a standout factor. Originally a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Jurgens signed a 4-year rookie extension through 2029 worth $68 million. The versatile lineman has played in 44 games so far, starting in more than half of them. He emerged as a dependable presence on the Eagles' offensive line. In 2023, Jurgens played a considerable role in keeping the interior line stable after the departure of veteran Isaac Seumalo. Lining up to All-Pro center Jason Kelce, Jurgens became his successor, blending agility, strength, and high football IQ to keep Philadelphia's offensive front strong. While star power often comes at a hefty cost, Jurgens exemplifies how smart drafting and player development can have a significant return on investment. His performance during the Super Bowl only further cemented his value, not just in salary, but in long-term potential. With Kelce gone, Jurgens continues to be an anchor for the offensive line. As Jurgens continues to develop, the Eagles may have landed one of the best long-term offensive line investments in the league.
