Our Beauty Writer Swears By This Glow Giving SPF For Summer

Summer always ushers in a line-up of make-up essentials that speak to a new climate and the beauty problems that come with it. For me, the question of a bullet-proof base comes into play. When the heatwave begin to hit and my foundation starts to slip, I opt for a lightweight, breathable base that provides subtle coverage and maximum comfort. I look for built in sun protection, too. Which is why tinted sunscreens have become my newest obsession. This category of skincare and make-up hybrids have exploded of late thanks to their glowy, healthy-looking, 'clean girl' finish. In the last few months alone we have seen Merit's The Uniform Tinted Mineral SPF 50, the Supergoop! Protec Daily SPF Tint SPF 50, £40, and Beauty of Joseon's Daily Tinted Fluid Sunscreen, £17, hard launch onto our social media feeds. But my newest skin glossing fixation comes courtesy of the new Jones Road's Everyday Sunscreen, £40. It may have taken legendary make-up artist and beauty brand founder, Bobbi Brown, a number of years to develop, but like many of Jones Road's offerings, it was certainly worth the wait. We have already declared our love for the brand's very first Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser, and the next of Jones Road's firsts follows suit with a product that reinvents mineral sunscreens for the better. Speaking about her newest innovation, Brown explains, 'Everyday Sunscreen took many years to develop. I had to make sure that not only was it clean and effective but that it also paired incredibly well with make-up. It needed to look natural, layer well, and not leave a dry or uncomfortable finish. This is my new ideal base for everyday protection, and works perfectly with all of my Jones Road make-up.' There has been much debate about the pros and cons of using sunscreens that provide protection through chemical filters or mineral filters, but Brown saw fit to hone in on the latter which uses zinc oxide to build a physical sun protection. But before you ask about the notorious natural white cast mineral sunscreens leave on darker skin tones, note that Brown has done her due diligence here too - she's included colour-correcting pigments in each tinted shade to offset any ashy, grey finish. Another characteristic of mineral sunscreens that Jones Road has sought to correct if the overall feel. Usually thicker and pastier than chemical sunscreens, the Everyday Sunscreen has flipped the script on mineral SPFs with a texture that ups the comfort factor. It is lightweight, smooth and glides over to reveal a lit-from-within sheen on the skin. Meaning there is no pilling, sliding, or heavy-feeling in sight. Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'I tend to sit on the chemical filter side of the sunscreen debate, purely based on the fact that I favour a lightweight, undetectable SPF that leaves my skin without a trace of ashy discolouration. And, the fact that, while mineral sunscreens have their benefits (they are great for sensitive skin and the environment), I haven't found one that doesn't leave my skin feeling weighed down. That was until I tried Jones Road Everyday Sunscreen. I'm not saying it's the lightest SPF I've used - it needs to be worked into the skin - but after some light massage it glides over like butter leaving you glossy and never greasy. It looks (and feels) totally traceless. As for make-up? It pairs beautifully, there's no caking my skin looks more radiant. That said, the SPF leaves my skin so perfected and glowy I sometimes even forgo foundation altogether. It's a win-win.' 1. Jones Road Everyday Sunscreen What the brand says: 'Everyday Sunscreen is a broad spectrum mineral SPF 30 for daily sun protection that pairs perfectly with make-up. Each tinted shade contains color-correcting pigments to help offset white cast, a natural result of the physical sun protection that zinc oxide provides, for a natural finish. Lightweight and smooth, it's the ideal base for make-up.' What we know: Years in the making, Jones Road seems to have cracked all our pet peeves with mineral sunscreens, read: a heavy finish and white cast on medium to deep skin tones. The Jones Road Everyday Sunscreen seems to correct all those wrongs with a formula that leaves skin looking so good you could forgo foundation. I'm not saying it's the lightest SPF I've used, it doesn't run down my fingers like my go-to and it needs to be worked into the skin, but once you apply some minimum effort it glides over like butter leaving you glossy, never greasy, and looks (and feels) totally traceless. As for make-up? Mines sits atop like a treat, sans caking and helps to boost overall radiance, but the SPF leaves my skin so perfected I sometimes even forgo foundation. It's a win-win.' Jones Road's new tinted moisturiser is perfect for the heatwave

Shoppers love the lightweight formula that delivers coverage without making wrinkles and fine lines 'stand out' Jones Road knows a thing or two about no-makeup makeup and its new Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser has arrived in time for hot summer days. The formula is said to be light and breathable but also provides coverage wherever needed, perfect for covering blemishes. Designed to use as a last step of skincare, the moisturiser is available in 16 shades catering to pink, neutral, yellow, red and golden undertones. Shoppers have been heaping praise on the product, with one 85-year-old saying it made her realise: "I do not need a heavy foundation." The non-comedogenic formula includes Sodium Hyaluronate, a great humectant that is smaller in size than hyaluronic acid, which helps restore suppleness and improve the appearance of dry skin. It also protects skin's moisture barrier from water loss. The Jones Road Just Enough Moisturiser can be blended without a brush, helping to even out redness without hiding the skin, and feels like moisturiser as opposed to makeup. Bobbi Brown, the founder and creator of the product, shared: "On days when I'm running around and don't want a lot of makeup, this is my go-to to just make me look and feel better. It really is Just Enough." For a more accurate shade match, shoppers can try Charlotte Tilbury's Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick, £35, which comes in 20 shades. The tint gives a soft-focus glow for the look of healthy skin. It is mess-free and easy to blend, providing light coverage. Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint, currently reduced to £21.75 on LookFantastic, works better on blemishes as it evens out the skin tone and smooths for a 'your skin but better' finish. The Jones Road Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser has more than 3,400 reviews and satisfied shoppers, with one noting: "It evens my skin tone and it doesn't make wrinkles and fine lines stand out." "I like how light it is on your skin and it adds just enough color that 'make-up' isn't needed," a second shared but a third noticed a flaw in design, mentioning that the cap "does not close properly" and advised it might not be safe to use during travel. Another said they didn't like the 'sheen' it left on their face however, adding: "That might be what happens with all moisturisers. Doesn't make me break out so far either which is great."

Jones Road's Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser Has Arrived And It's The Antithesis Of What The Foundation

It was the product that broke the internet – and for all the wrong reasons. Jones Road's What The Foundation went viral after an online debate divided the beauty world, with instant obsessives and vocal sceptics feuding over the formula that has since garnered a legion of loyal fans. Now, Bobbi Brown has launched a new base product that's completely different to its counterpart – lightweight, nourishing and easy-to-apply, the new Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser has all the characteristics the former foundation didn't; making it the perfect solution for anyone who prefers a skin-nourishing formula throughout summer. Below, ELLE UK caught up with Bobbi Brown to discuss summer make-up tips, new beauty launches, and what's next for Jones Road... 'It was really important to me to create this product because I knew that there were customers who felt like something was missing. Something lighter that just felt different on the skin; this gives the appearance that you're not wearing make-up – that's the secret of Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser and I think one of the secrets behind Jones Road, too.' 'What The Foundation provides buildable coverage while the Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser is light coverage for the days where you don't need a lot. If you have oily skin it may not be your go-to but the formula is very hydrating and sits comfortably on the skin. It also doesn't dry down; it's not bouncy and emollient. We worked on this for over a year and tried it on so many people with different skin tones and skin types. I am probably the hardest judge when testing formulas, so when most people say that they love it, I would still say it's not there yet; I wanted to make something that I couldn't imagine making any better.' 'As you get older, your skin gets drier, no matter the season, so it's important to keep your skin moisturised. In the warmer months, you may start to feel like you want less moisture, which is ok, but you just need to make sure that you're still using products that don't dry out your skin.' 'I think you should do whatever makes you feel your best. That could mean something different for everyone. I believe in knowing who you are and owning it. This message puts you in the driver's seat to make decisions in your life, whether it's what make-up to wear or the clothes you go out in the world in; you're the decision maker in your life, and you should do what makes you feel the most confident.' 'My Aunt Alice used to say "If you're unhappy, find out what's causing it and see if you can do something about it. Aside from illness, there's nothing you can't find a way to fix."' 'We have so much coming out this year. I'm really excited for autumn because my tenth book is coming out and we're celebrating Jones Road's fifth anniversary, so you know we're going to plan some new products and exclusive launches for that.'
