Rangers activate OF Wyatt Langford, option INF Justin Foscue

July 6 - The Texas Rangers activated outfielder Wyatt Langford from the 10-day IL on Saturday and optioned infielder Justin Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock. Langford spent the minimum time allotted on the injured list as he was designated with a left oblique strain on June 25. The Rangers' 2023 first-round draft pick (No. 4 overall) leads the club with 13 home runs in 2025 and has added 10 doubles, 31 RBIs and 11 steals. He is slashing .232/.308/.421 in 67 games. Foscue appeared in three games -- all against the Orioles -- and had one hit (a two-run RBI double on July 1) in six plate appearances. In addition, the Rangers announced the signing of veteran Rowdy Tellez to a minor-league contract. He has been assigned to Triple-A Round Rock. Tellez, 30, is an eight-year MLB veteran who appeared in 62 games for Seattle in 2025. He hit 11 home runs for the Mariners and last played on June 17 vs. Boston. The first baseman/designated hitter has 116 career home runs for the Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates (2024), Milwaukee Brewers (2021-23) and Toronto Blue Jays (2018-21). --Field Level Media

Baltimore Orioles' bats silenced in 10-2 loss to Texas Rangers

Jacob deGrom won his fifth consecutive decision in another impressive start, Adolis García drove in four runs and the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 10-2 on Tuesday night. Alejandro Osuna hit his first career homer for Texas, which had gone extra innings in each of its previous four games — losing three of those. DeGrom (9-2, 2.13 ERA) struck out six over six innings in his 14th consecutive start working at least five innings and allowing two runs or fewer. That extended his franchise record and is the longest streak in the majors this season. The two-time Cy Young Award winner scattered five hits, allowing a two-run homer to Gary Sánchez that just cleared the wall. Six nights earlier in Baltimore, deGrom was perfect through six innings and took a no-hitter into the eighth. García put the Rangers ahead to stay with his two-run single in the third, and scored on Jonah Heim's single to make it 3-0 against rookie right-hander Brandon Young (0-3). García had another two-run single in the fifth, an inning before Osuna's two-run homer. Jacob Latz worked the final three innings for his first career save. Key moment Sánchez homered on the next pitch, for the only Baltimore runs, after his two-out foul pop in the fourth inning that dropped just beyond the extended reach of first baseman Josh Smith into the Rangers dugout. Key stat Justin Foscue drove in two runs with a pinch-hit double in the eighth, ending his 0-for-44 slide that was the longest in Rangers history. Up next Nathan Eovaldi (4-3, 1.87 ERA) pitches for Texas in the series finale Wednesday night, only the right-hander's second start since a month-long stay on the injured list because of elbow inflammation. Tomoyuki Sugano (6-4, 4.06) pitches for Baltimore.

Rangers place 1B Jake Burger (oblique) on 10-day injured list

June 22 - The Texas Rangers placed first baseman Jake Burger on the 10-day injured list on Saturday because of a left oblique strain. In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled rookie first baseman Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock. Burger, 29, felt tightness on his left side on a swinging strikeout in the seventh inning of the Rangers' 6-2 win in Pittsburgh on Friday night. "I was hopeful going into the scan that it was just some sort of cramp kind of thing," Burger said Saturday. "I think, for me, I've dealt with this in the past, and it's been pretty quick. My mind's on 11 days. I'll let my body tell me and work with the training staff and strength staff, but my mind's on that 11th day, and getting back as soon as I can." Burger is batting .220 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 65 games. He is second on the team with 13 doubles. For his career, Burger is a .246 hitter with 82 homers and 214 RBIs in 409 games for the Chicago White Sox (2021-23), Miami Marlins (2023-24) and Rangers. He was sidelined for about three weeks last season with the Marlins because of a left intercostal strain. He missed about 10 days with a mild oblique strain while playing for the White Sox in 2023. Foscue, 26, played in 15 games last season for the Rangers and batted .048 (2-for-42) with one RBI. Texas selected him 14th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State. He has hit .269 with 10 homers and 37 RBIs in 50 games for Round Rock. Rangers infielder Ezequiel Duran, who is hitting .143 (7-for-49) in 24 games, could get the nod at first base, manager Bruce Bochy said. "I'd like to give Zeke some runway here," Bochy said. "I think he's been swinging better, and he gives us a good option there at first base. It's been good to see him make some adjustments." --Field Level Media

(AP Photo/Nick Wass) PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Texas Rangers placed first baseman Jake Burger on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a strained left oblique. Burger was injured on a swing during Friday night's 6-2 win over the Pirates. Infielder Justin Foscue was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and was in uniform for Saturday's game. Advertisement Utility player Ezequiel Duran is expected to be the primary first baseman while Burger recovers. 'I want to give Zeke some runway here,' Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. This is the third straight season that Burger has gone on the IL with a side injury. However, Burger is optimistic that he will not be sidelined long. 'I've dealt with this before and it's been quick (to heal),' Burger said. 'My mind is on coming back on the 11th day, getting back as soon as I can.' Burger was acquired from Miami in an offseason trade. He is hitting .220 with 10 homers in 65 games after going deep 29 times last season. He was demoted to Triple-A for a week in May. Advertisement Also Saturday, Nathan Eovaldi threw a simulated game of 50 pitches and three innings, and Jon Gray had a 35-pitch bullpen session. Eovaldi and Gray are coming back form injuries. Eovaldi could rejoin the team's rotation next week when Texas plays a three-game series at Baltimore that begins on Monday night. He has been on the injured list since June 1 due to right posterior elbow inflammation. Eovaldi has a 4-3 record and 1.56 ERA in 12 starts this season. 'Everything went well,' he said. 'I threw all my pitches. I feel like I'm ready to come back.' Gray has yet to pitch this season after fracturing his right wrist during spring training. There is no timetable for his return. Advertisement Center fielder Wyatt Lankford was out of the lineup for a second straight game because of back spasms. Bochy expects him to play on Sunday in the finale of the three-game series. Foscue made his major league debut last year and hit .048 in 15 games with Texas. At Round Rock this season, he was batting .269 with 10 homers in 50 games. ___ AP MLB:
