Red flag will fly high for eternity, says CPI leader

The Red Flag representing the Communist movement will fly high in the sky for eternity, as long as there is oppression, the cry for justice will be heard, said Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K. Ramakrishna. Participating at the city-level convention in Tirupati as part of the party's centenary celebrations in India, the CPI leader spoke about the perennial relevance of the Leftist movement. 'The Red Flag remains a ray of hope for the country's future. The people-oriented parties will join hands with the Communists in the days to come to put an end to the fascist rule,' Mr. Ramakrishna said. 'The Leftist movement in India is still a force to reckon with today, because of the sacrifices in the freedom movement and enduring sufferings for the sake of the downtrodden. The BJP-led NDA government is bent on benefitting the capitalists, trampling upon the rights of the citizens and making a mockery of the Constitution,' Mr. Ramakrishna alleged. Taking a jibe at the 'double engine growth', he said it has pushed the country into debts instead of propelling growth. The party leader faulted the State government-led by N. Chandrababu Naidu for failing to implement the 'Super Six' schemes and in the same vein, flayed the former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for trying to foment trouble by inciting his cadre to resort to violence.

CPI leader demands Centre to repeal four labour codes

Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K. Ramakrishna demanded that the Central government to repeal the four labour codes alleging that they would turn workers into corporate slaves. He was speaking during a protest in Ongole on Wednesday. The protest was a part of the nationwide 'Bharat Bandh' organised under the aegis of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Left parties, Samyukta Kisan Morcha and other public associations to oppose the anti-worker, anti-farmer, and pro-corporate policies. Mr. Ramakrishna said that rights could be achieved only through struggle. He said that the BJP-led Central government is trying to convert the 44 labour laws into four labour codes. The trade unions have fought for decades to achieve these rights, he informed. 'Due to these labour codes, the workers will lose the right to form unions at the very least. They will lose the eight-hour work schedule and will be subjected to further exploitation of labour,' he said. The State secretary also demanded that the minimum wage must be ₹26,000 per month. He stressed on the need to make the contact and outsourcing employees as permanent workers and asked the government to give equal pay for equal work as per the orders of the Supreme Court.

CPI urges Naidu to seek Central aid for mango farmers in State

Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K. Ramakrishna on Friday expressed serious concern over the plight of mango farmers in Andhra Pradesh and urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to immediately respond and initiate steps to procure mangoes through central assistance. In a statement released on Friday (July 4), Mr. Ramakrishna highlighted that while Andhra Pradesh is renowned nationwide for its mango production, farmers are currently suffering due to lack of procurement support. He noted that the Central government has already agreed to intervene in Karnataka under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for 2025–26, fixing the procurement price at ₹1,616 per quintal for up to 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes. This intervention came after Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan responded to a request from Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, representing Karnataka. 'It is unfortunate that despite Andhra Pradesh playing a key role in the Central coalition government, mango farmers here continue to face immense hardship,' he said. He criticised the TDP-led alliance government in the State for its inaction on the issue. 'It is disappointing that the State government has shown no initiative to address the crisis, even though the Central government is supporting Karnataka farmers.' Mr. Ramakrishna appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene immediately, hold discussions with the Central government, and ensure that a similar Market Intervention Scheme is implemented in the State to safeguard the interests of thousands of mango farmers.

A.P. govt. urged to launch Operation Budameru

CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna on Wednesday (June 18) demanded that Operation Budameru be taken up on a war footing to provide a permanent solution to flood prevention and that the government immediately convene an all-party meeting on the Godavari–Banakacherla Project. Leaders of a number of political parties met Minister for Water Resources Nimmala Ramanaidu here and said if the government does not take concrete steps to desilt and clean the Budameru stream, regions along its course would remain under threat. Mr. Ramakrishna said the Budameru floods at the beginning of the coalition government's tenure last year caused immense suffering and property loss to thousands. He urged the government to act decisively to avoid another disaster. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's promise to clean Budameru under 'Operation Budameru' remains unfulfilled. The operation would benefit flood-prone areas in NTR, Vijayawada, Krishna, and Eluru districts. Minister Nimmala reportedly said the project would cost ₹8,000 crore and that Central funding was expected. Vijayawada Congress City president Naraharishetty Narasimha Rao said that Centre must be pressured to release funds. Simply stating that preliminary steps are being taken is insufficient; a concrete action plan is needed, he added.

Renew FCRA licence of RDT in Anantapur, urges CPI A.P. secretary

The CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna, along with the alumni of Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Krishnaiah, and others, submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, urging him to take the necessary steps for renewal and restoration of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) license that enables Rural Development Trust (RDT) in Anantapur to continue receiving foreign aid from various countries. In a press release on Wednesday, Mr. Ramakrishna said that the Union Government of India suspended the renewal of RDT's FCRA license, which governs the organisation's ability to receive foreign contributions. If this issue is not resolved urgently, the decades-long humanitarian services of RDT may be disrupted. 'In view of humanitarian and public interest, we urgently appeal to the State government to request the Central government to immediately renew the FCRA license of RDT to ensure the continuity of its invaluable services,' he added.
