Tesla driver slammed for ‘selfish' servo act

An 'entitled' Tesla driver has sparked outrage after a photo went viral of their electric vehicle parked at a busy petrol station. The white Tesla Model Y was parked right next to a petrol pump at the BP in Paradise Gardens, Thornlands, Queensland – and it's been revealed that the driver had just gotten out to go for a cheeky KFC run. When the image was posted on Facebook, the original poster said that they had seen the driver get out of the car and walk into the neighbouring KFC. 'Parking your electric vehicle next to a petrol bowser in a busy BP station while you pop in to KFC to get a go bucket, just in case there is a shower of rain and it gets wet (wasn't raining at the time),' they wrote. 'Way of the future or just rude and lacking consideration for others?' While it was a loaded question from the author, it was clear that commenters didn't need help getting fired up by the photo. One person called the move 'narcissistic' while someone else said the act was plain 'rude'. 'Probably worried they'll get electrocuted if the car gets wet!' one person joked. 'Should've walked over, picked up the diesel pump, and when they walked back said 'fillerup'?' someone else quipped. Someone else called it 'damn ignorant,' as another said, 'Tesla driver … say no more'. 'And they're the ones complaining there aren't enough charge points,' someone remarked. A different person pointed out that you can get charged for parking your regular car in an EV charging bay. Fines vary by state, but range from $1185 in Victoria to $3200 in the Australian Capital Territory. 'Why not apply the same rule for EV's at a petrol station?' that person asked. Others said this is not an isolated incident. 'Happens all the time. EV drivers go in and get their coffees and muffins with no fuel and hold up everyone else,' one said. 'The servos won't say anything as they may a profit from selling everything but fuel'. However, not everyone shared this anger, and some actually took aim at the person who took the photo. 'Looks like you were stalking to person if you know what they were doing,' one pointed out. 'We are often quick to judge a situation before knowing the whole story,' said another user. 'It's worth considering'. And one commenter said that the poster was overreacting. 'If this is a big worry, then you really are doing okay – be happy,' they said.
