M'sian finds nail in his ayam goreng in Wangsa Maju eatery
JUST a few days ago, a Malaysian man found a cockroach in his packet of nasi lemak. Now, another Malaysian has made an equally stomach-turning discovery in his ayam goreng — a nail. In a short 23-second TikTok video shared by @akingdraws, the man looks horrified as he holds up what appears to be a bent nail. 'From where?' his dining companion can be heard asking. 'In the chicken,' the man responds, not taking his eyes off the nail. He explained that he had found it in the ayam goreng that came with his nasi lemak. 'Do you want to kill someone?' the frustrated customer says as the employee takes the plate of food away. @akingdraws warned netizens to be careful and shared that the incident happened at a restaurant in Wangsa Maju. The video quickly went viral, with Malaysians flooding the comments section with a mix of shock, humour and advice. 'That's a metal pin from the chicken's leg, probably from a car accident earlier,' one user joked. 'Wait, that's so scary????' commented another. Some took the issue more seriously. 'Report it to the Health Ministry (KKM) so the vendor will be more responsible,' one user urged.

Turkey strengthens lira efforts
Agencies The Turkish central bank announced on Saturday new measures to 'strengthen the monetary transmission mechanism and support the transition to the Turkish lira,' within its macroprudential framework. The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) said that the growth targets for real-person liras deposit shares have been increased for banks with a share below 60%, while a monthly growth target of 0.4 points has been introduced for banks with a share between 60% and 65%. It also said that the reserve requirement ratio for FX-protected deposit accounts or so-called KKM has been lifted to 40% from 33%. Likewise, the minimum interest rate applicable to KKM accounts has been lowered from 50% to 40% of the policy the same time, the target for the transition of KKM accounts to Turkish lira has been abolished, it said, while the total target for KKM renewals and transition to lira has been maintained. The KKM scheme, which aimed to shield depositors against lira depreciation, was adopted in late 2021, but authorities, as a broader shift in ecomomic policy have been seeking to phase it out gradually and transition deposits into regular lira accounts. Floating-rate lira deposit accounts can now be opened with maturities longer than one month, the bank also said. Furthermore, the CBRT has also set the reserve requirement ratios for CPI, PPI and TLREF-indexed deposits at 10% for all maturities.

She said she has been administering the TDaP vaccine to pregnant women since 2012 and remarked this is a much awaited development. 'Finally, all pregnant mothers can get (the vaccine). God willing, we can protect newborns from being infected by the disease that causes pertusis,' she wrote in the comment. According to one comment, the TDaP vaccine could only be obtained from private clinics in the past and cost around RM250. What is the vaccine for exactly? Pertussis, otherwise known as Whooping Cough or 100-Day Cough, is a highly contagious yet vaccine-preventable disease caused by a type of bacteria called Bordetella pertussis . According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the infection is particularly Early symptoms of Whooping Cough include those similar to a common cold with a runny nose, fever, and mild cough. These are later followed by two or three months of severe coughing fits. Anti-vaxxers chime in on KKM's announcement Certain vaccine-averse individuals expressed their disdain towards the health ministry's announcement about giving out TDaP vaccines. Some gave their opinion that the vaccine is not necessary and babies have been fine without it, while some commented on different topics unrelated to the matter. Meanwhile, a few comments were generally dismissive of the vaccine distribution and some even assume that the vaccine is dangerous because it is being given out for free. One user commented saying even some public toilets require payment to be used, implying that a free vaccine could only spell trouble. The vaccine is a choice and no one is forcing pregnant mothers to take it As some users pointed out in the comments, the TDaP vaccine is a choice and the government is not forcing anyone to take it. People who support the health ministry's decision to make the vaccine free to pregnant women were perplexed by anti-vaxxers who chose to voice out on a matter where there is choice.
