Thursday, June 12 forecast: Flooding risk Friday, summer weather returns this weekend
The ducks and frogs are happy again, but you may not be. Clouds and showers made for a damp day, although we really haven't seen much rain so far. This may change by Friday. Download our KOLR 10 weather app A storm swirling out of Oklahoma will track across the Ozarks through Friday. As the system moves through, it will likely bring a more concentrated area of rain to the region tonight into Friday. The atmosphere is primed to produce rainfall, and the incoming system could lead to slow-moving pockets of heavier rainfall later tonight into Friday. The result will be locally heavy rainfall totals and even a low risk for flash flooding. A wet commute to work can be expected across much of the Ozarks Friday morning, with the rain becoming more scattered as it begins to pull east later in the day. Lightning and heavy rain will be the main weather concerns, with temperatures remaining unusually mild. Clouds will thin out from the west Friday night, opening the door to areas of fog by Saturday morning. Low clouds and fog won't persist too long, though, with sunnier weather developing by afternoon. Most areas look dry Saturday with temperatures climbing into the 80s. Rain chances will probably perk back up to the west and across Western Missouri and Northwest Arkansas heading into Sunday. Most areas to the east will remain dry again throughout the day Sunday, with temperatures climbing back into the 80s. We're definitely in a transition to summer conditions, and we'll find that into next week. The days will remain warm and humid. There will likely be a low chance for showers and thunderstorms each day, mainly in the afternoon and evening, but no day will be a washout. Afternoon highs will tend to be in the mid to upper 80s, trending higher by week's end as a summer ridge spreads out through the middle of the country. This will set the stage for our first 90° highs to show up over the next couple of weeks. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Thursday, June 12 forecast: Rainy weather has returned
Hopefully you were able to make the most of the sunshine and warm weather we've experienced the past several days, because today isn't going to be another one. Scattered rain showers this morning will linger through the afternoon and into Friday. Download our KOLR 10 weather app Rain this morning is moving up from the southwest and expanding northeast across the Ozarks. Rain will be light to moderate and become more scattered in the afternoon today. So, not raining all the time, but rain is likely today. Given the slow nature of the storm system, a locally heavy downpour could lead to very localized flooding. The core of the storm will move through Thursday night into Friday. Pockets of heavy rain and embedded thunder will remain possible through the period. There will be just enough instability and wind energy to keep an eye out for an isolated severe weather risk. Locally heavy rain, however, is the main concern. The slow-moving system will move out on Saturday. Rain chances over the weekend, especially Saturday, look much lower with many areas remaining dry. Sunnier skies will also bring early summer heat back to the area. A more summer-like look to the pattern will be taking hold as we move into the following week. We can expect some pop-up showers and thunderstorms most days, but most areas will remain dry. Temperatures will creep higher at night and during the day. 90° will likely remain just out of reach for most areas, but we'll be getting close. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Wednesday, June 11 forecast: Summer sneakpeek fades away
Many people are rejoicing in the sunny and warm weather we've experienced recently. Today will be sunny and warm again, but rain will return for some by Thursday. Download our KOLR 10 weather app Expect another day in the mid to upper 80s this afternoon. It will be steamier today than yesterday and a few clouds will stream in from the southwest this afternoon, but skies will be mostly sunny. Winds will be light out of the south, around 5 MPH. Enjoy! A stray shower is possible west of Highway 65 this afternoon, thanks to the added humidity and heat, but many will stay dry until Thursday. Rain chances and cloud cover will creep back in from the southwest as a strung-out storm slowly makes its way out of Texas and through the region through the remainder of the week. The outer edge of the storm will likely lead to scattered afternoon storms on Thursday. Rain is more likely on Friday with pockets of showers and isolated thunderstorms expected throughout the day, but more likely during the afternoon and evening. No severe weather is expected, but lightning is possible along with locally heavy rainfall. This appears to be a setup that may favor slow-moving areas of heavier rainfall. Flooding at a localized level may occur. The slow-moving storm will exit to the east over the weekend, but daily chances for widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain. Outside of the rain chances, the weather looks perfect for some boating and floating, with temperatures and humidity levels having an early summer feel. A more summer-like look to the pattern will be taking hold as we move into the following week. Humidity levels will remain high with temperatures getting closer to the 90° mark. Tuesday, June 10 forecast: Humidity returns, followed by increasing rain chances
Mother Nature dished up a beauty today. A bright day began with cool morning lows in the 50s and ended with warm afternoon highs in the 80s. These 'summer-light' conditions (heat without the humidity) will give way to a steamier pattern over the next 24 hours. Download our KOLR 10 weather app A nice evening will give way to a beautiful night as the full Strawberry Moon rises over the Ozarks. Skies will remain mostly clear with temperatures falling to pleasant levels by morning. Warmer temperatures will come with a noticeable increase in humidity by the afternoon hours. Most areas will remain dry, but there could be a spotty afternoon shower in the afternoon heat west of Hwy. 65. In fact, this appears to be a setup that may favor slow-moving areas of heavier rainfall. Flooding at a localized level may occur. The slow-moving storm will exit to the east over the weekend, but daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will remain. They should be widely scattered and most likely in the afternoon and early evening. Outside of the rain chances, the weather looks perfect for some boating and floating, with temperatures and humidity levels definitely having an early summer feel. A more summer-like look to the pattern will be taking hold as we move into the following week. Humidity levels will remain high with temperatures getting closer to the 90° mark. Friday, June 6th forecast: Additional waves of storms arriving
Yesterday's afternoon sunshine was a nice break in the pattern; unfortunately, it won't last for this weekend. Rain has returned to kick off Friday with more wet weather reinforcements arriving both Saturday and Sunday. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the majority of counties south of Highway 60. Flooding will be the main threat. Soils are highly saturated due to the record rainfall over the last two months, opening the door for additional flooding today. In addition to a flooding risk, we will have a low tornado risk today as a brief, spin-up tornado will be possible along and south of the state line. Thankfully, it will not rain all day. Rain will start wrapping up by the early afternoon as we finish the day with sunshine and temperatures climbing into the upper 70s. The next wave of thunderstorms is expected to arrive early Saturday morning. The setup for tomorrow's round of storms looks very similar to what we will see today. Rain, flooding, and damaging winds are expected in the morning. Calmer and drier conditions will arrive by the afternoon. Sunday will get off to a quiet start with temperatures in the 80s before, you guessed it, more rain to finish the day. A wave of thunderstorms will push through Sunday and will, thankfully, be the final wave of wet weather we have to get through. We will start drying out on Monday. A break from the spring monsoon will be coming for this work week as quiet and mostly sunny weather will persist. Download our KOLR 10 weather app Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
