Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Data From Black Box Of Air India Flight Retrieved, Memory Module Accessed
Investigators have retrieved the data from the black box of the Air India plane which crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. A probe into the case was ongoing. The data from the front black box of the crashed Air India was retrieved and downloaded, it was known on Thursday. The memory module was also successfully accessed. On June 24, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu had said the black box of the Air India plane which crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12 was being examined by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, and dismissed speculation that it would be sent abroad for an inquiry. The London-bound Air India flight crashed into a hostel complex in Ahmedabad moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 270 persons, including 241 on board. One passenger survived. The black box of Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane was recovered from the site on June 13. A black box is a small device that records information about an aircraft during its flight. It helps in the investigation of aviation accidents. Following the incident, a high-level panel was set up to investigate the causes of the crash, and the investigation is progressing smoothly, the government said after the incident.

AI crash probe: Black box examined in India, says Naidu
Pune: Civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu on Tuesday said the black box of the Air India plane which crashed in Ahmedabad earlier this month was being examined by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), and dismissed speculation that it would be sent abroad for an inquiry. Union minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol and civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu (R) at aircraft summit in Pune on Tuesday. (HT) Naidu was speaking in Pune on the sidelines of the Helicopters & Small Aircraft Summit 2025, organised by FICCI jointly with the ministry of civil Aviation. 'There is no need to send the black box to the US or any other country. Our agencies have the technical capability to decode and analyse the data. The investigation is underway, and we will share a detailed report once it is complete,' Naidu said, dismissing earlier reports that the data might be sent to the US for decoding with the help of agencies like the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). 'Decoding the black box is going to give an in-depth insight into what happened moments before the plane crash,' Naidu had earlier said. Bodies Of 259 Air India Crash Victims Have Been Identified: Officials
New Delhi: All the bodies from the Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad have been recovered and several of the are still undergoing DNA matching, sources have said. Officials of the health department said all the bodies have now been recovered and so far, 253 bodies have been identified through DNA and six by facial recognition. Since the flight to London crashed on June 12, there had been no official announcement about the total number of deaths. The authorities have said a figure could be arrived at only after the DNA matching took place. 256 bodies have been handed over to families so far. The DNA identification of the remaining bodies is still in progress. The Boeing Dreamliner bound for London had started losing height and crashed seconds after the take-off, landing on residential campus of BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar, located .just outside the airport perimeter. Only one passenger out of the 242 on board -- a British-Indian man seated in 11A -- had survived. It is not yet known what caused the crash. The black box of the aircraft is being examined. Asked about media reports suggesting the black box is damaged and could be sent abroad for data extraction, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu called it "speculation". "The black box is very much in India, and it is currently being investigated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau or AAIB," he said. Air India has responded to the crash with a slew of safety and prevention measures that includes cutting down on the use of its wide-body planes for international flights by 15 per cent. The cuts will be implemented between now and 20 June and will continue thereafter until at least mid-July.

Aviation Minister Naidu announces new directorate for helicopters under DGCA
Union minister K Rammohan Naidu on Tuesday announced the establishment of a dedicated helicopter directorate under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to provide a single-window regulatory oversight , address chopper-specific safety and certification issues. The Minister for Civil Aviation was addressing a keynote speech at the 7th Helicopter & Small Aircraft Summit in Pune, organised by his ministry in collaboration with the Maharashtra government, Pawan Hans and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). "Robust regional connectivity and logistics has laid the foundation for a high growth and a high opportunity. We are building a strong framework of regional connectivity through initiatives such as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, National Logistics Policy, National Civil Aviation Policy and PM Gatishakti Master Plan and ' Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik ' (UDAAN) schemes for multimodal connectivity," he said. "And I would say that these efforts are not only enhancing connectivity but also reshaping our economic destiny," he said. Naidu added that for the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, viksit aviation is going to play a key and pivotal role. "And I am so assured that this is going to be a significant step in the administrative bottlenecks that many of you used to face before," he said. He also emphasized building a robust safety culture. "Safety of the pilgrims must remain our top priority. There can be no shortcuts, no room for communication errors and no margin for poor decision-making. We must build a culture of trust, dialogue and discipline which I feel is a shared responsibility between the Centre, the states and the operators," he said. Talking about Kedarnath , Chardham, he said the safety of pilgrims and operations can be challenging. "While reviewing some of the incidents, you can see that it is quite challenging in the mountainous terrain," he said. Naidu added that operational difficulties should never be the excuse for anyone. "So, that is something where we have to step up the game, create a much better safety system around the operations that we have today," he added. Naidu shared his vision to promote helicopters and small aircraft as essential components of a futuristic aviation ecosystem . "I believe the next decade of aviation will be defined not just by large aircraft and mega airports but by modern and inclusive air solutions. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, helicopters and small aircraft are at the heart of our mission to democratise flying," he added.

Gujarat health dept confirms 275 as final toll of deadly Air India crash
The Gujarat health department on Tuesday confirmed the loss of 275 lives in the recent Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad. That number includes 241 passengers and crew members on board the aircraft, as well as 34 individuals who were on the ground when the crash occurred, reported NDTV. The fateful aircraft crashed into the ground only seconds after take-off on June 12 en route to London. No official death toll had been released until now, with authorities stating that identification of victims would only be possible after DNA testing was completed. State government officials said that all the bodies have now been recovered. Of the total death count, 266 victims have been identified so far, while 256 bodies have been handed over to the families. Two hundred and sixty bodies were identified through DNA analysis and six using facial recognition techniques, the report added. The victims included 120 men, 124 women, and 16 children. Identification of the remaining bodies is still underway. A flight that lasted only seconds An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, flying non-stop to London, crashed less than a minute after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on June 12. Part of the aircraft came down on a students' hostel complex within the premises of B J Medical College in the Meghani Nagar locality. In response to safety concerns following the accident, Air India Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Campbell Wilson recently assured both the public and the airline's staff that its fleet — including the Boeing 787s — has undergone thorough inspections and remains safe for operation. He added that the airline is taking all necessary precautions in light of the AI171 crash. Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Tuesday stated that the aircraft's black box is still in India and is being examined by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau. He dismissed rumours suggesting that the data recorder would be sent abroad for analysis.
