New £40 train linking five European countries launches today

A new sleeper train is set to connect five European countries in one route for the first time in history, spanning an impressive 745 miles — and it launches today. Starting in the Polish capital of Warsaw, the new link will run all the way to Rijeka, a Croatian coastal city known for glistening beaches, waterfalls, and 13th-century castles. It will pass through multiple cities along the way, including Opoczno, Katowice, Rybnik, Chałupki, Vienna, Ljubljana, Postojna, and Opatija. As it stands, train passengers travelling from Warsaw to Rijeka can't travel directly; instead, they must swap services three times (in Breclav, Graz, and Zagreb), an irritating journey that can end up taking more than 30 hours. It might still take 19 hours from door to door, rolling out of Warsaw at 2pm and calling at Rijeka at 9am the next day, but the new PKP Intercity service will shorten the journey drastically, shaving off more than a third of the current travel time. Services will run four times a week during the summer months, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The first is scheduled to leave Warsaw today, Friday, June 27. The final routes will run at the end of August, leaving Warsaw on August 29 and Rijeka on August 31. The path is packed with breathtaking scenery, passing through the diverse landscapes of Poland, Czechia, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. Though it doesn't stop at any Czech destinations along the way, it does stop at Vienna at roughly 10pm, where a few carriages will diverge and head off directly to Croatia on a different route. More Trending Reaching Slovenia just after midnight, the train will partner up with the Istria service – which starts in Budapest – and plod on towards Croatia just in time for breakfast. Warsaw, Poland Opoczno, Poland Katowice, Poland Rybnik, Poland Chałupki, Poland Vienna, Austria Ljubljana, Slovenia Postojna, Slovenia Opatija, Croatia Rijeka, Croatia. Passengers will travel in style, as the carriages are fully air-conditioned, with couchette cars available with beds. Sheets will be provided; no need to pack a sleeping bag. A dining car will serve up hot food between Warsaw and Vienna, while passengers living it up in the couchette cars will have a staff member on hand to assist them throughout their voyage. This isn't the only new train journey on the block. A service between Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok will be returning by the end of 2025, building on the existing infrastructure that once operated between the two cities and destinations including Padang Besar and Butterworth. Malaysia's transport minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook confirmed that the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) would be looking at plans over the next few months. And closer to home, a new 'Tube for Europe' could completely revolutionise travel across the continent, connecting 39 stations, with at least one in every country along five main routes. The proposals for the Starline service envisage that replacing short-haul flights with a high-speed rail network could slice emissions by a whopping 95%, while a total of 424 major cities will be connected to ports, airports and rail. KTM 390 Adventure X To Be Replaced By 390 Adventure Plus: Report

KTM India launched the latest generation of the 390 Adventure along with the 390 Adventure X in February 2025. After a few months of being on sale, reports have surfaced claiming that the Austrian manufacturer is planning a revamp for the 390 Adventure lineup. It suggests that the 390 Adventure X will be discontinued in India to be replaced by the 390 Adventure Plus. The new variant with the "Plus" suffix in its name will add more features to the motorcycle. The report from Bikewale suggests that KTM has already stopped accepting bookings for the 390 Adventure X across the nation. This comes before any official announcement of the introduction of the 390 Adventure Plus variant. However, the official India website of the manufacturer still has the 390 Adventure X listed on it for a price of Rs 2.91 lakh (ex-showroom). Coming back to the KTM 390 Adventure Plus, it will come with an IMU-based electronics package, which will be borrowed from the standard 390 Adventure. The list of features will also include switchable cornering ABS, switchable cornering traction control, and cruise control. Mechanically, it will be the same as the Adventure X. The KTM 390 Adventure Plus is unlikely to get an adjustable suspension setup. It will continue to have the same standard setup that it has now. The braking system will continue to be the same with the bike riding on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. It will continue to have the road-biased characteristics of the outgoing bike, but it will still be capable of going off-road. With the addition of features, the bike will get a hike in its price, and based on the report, it will be launched in a few weeks in the country.

Strong interest in SD Property's SJCC East One project

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd's (SD Property) latest transit-oriented development, SJCC East One, has drawn strong buyer interest, securing an 80 per cent take-up for Phase One of its launch. The serviced apartment units, part of a 27.53-hectare masterplan at Subang Jaya City Centre, mark a significant step in the group's vision to redefine urban living in Subang Jaya. Occupying 1.08 hectares of freehold land, the project features two 36-storey towers offering 926 units. In a statement, SD Property said the units with built-up areas ranging from 682 square feet (sq ft) to 1,435 sq ft, are priced from RM598,000, and cater to first-time homeowners and upgraders alike. SD Property chief operating officer of integrated development Datuk Mohd Idris Abdullah said SJCC East One is scheduled for completion by June 2029 with a gross development value of RM613 million. "SJCC East One answers the call for elevated urban living that revolves around sustainability and reduction of environmental impact," he said in a statement today. Idris added that SJCC East One is setting the tone for future-minded homeowners who desire a sound investment from a reputable developer with a trusted track record. A 130-metre covered pedestrian link will connect the development directly to the Subang Jaya LRT and KTM stations, with an additional walkway leading to Subang Ria Park. The project also offers direct access to the SJCC High Street retail boulevard and proximity to key amenities including Subang Parade, NU Empire Subang, educational institutions and Subang Jaya Medical Centre. "Facilities include a 50-metre Olympic-length swimming pool, fully equipped gyms, themed lounges, co-working space, a podcast room and rentable storage spaces. "The project integrates green features such as electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater harvesting and LED lighting, earning a provisional GreenRE Gold Certification. "SJCC East One is expected to enhance the vibrancy of the township, while spurring continued development and growth," said Idris.

Binder battles back in Mugello: from Sprint crash to Sunday redemption

It was a defiant ride that salvaged pride and points on a circuit that demands perfection. But the result did little to lift him up the championship standings. After a bruising crash in the sprint race left his Red Bull KTM buried in the gravel at Turn 1, the South African rebounded with grit and composure, fighting through the field from 15th on the grid to ninth in the Mugello main event. Now 13th overall, Binder's 2024 campaign continues to unfold in a way few could have predicted at the season's start. Early setbacks once again shaped the outcome of the weekend, with a disappointing qualifying position continuing a worrying trend. Binder has struggled to consistently crack the top ten in recent rounds, as crashes and poor grid placements have undermined his ability to challenge at the front. Over the past nine race weekends — factoring in both sprints and full-length races — he has managed just 42 points and remains without a podium this year. Now trailing his KTM teammate Pedro Acosta by 42 points, Binder would have been relieved just to see the chequered flag on Sunday — especially after Saturday's collision with Johann Zarco ended a promising sprint effort prematurely and piled on the pressure ahead of the main race. Sunday's Grand Prix, however, offered a much-needed reset. The 29-year-old regained some composure, managing tyres and temperatures in hot, crowded conditions to bring his machine home safely inside the Top 10. Beyond points, he gathered crucial data — and perhaps more importantly, a measure of momentum. 'I got a decent start but didn't really have the pace to go with the next group in front,' Binder admitted after the race. 'I knew it was important to make the rear tyre last until the end and also guard the front because it was very hot and I was surrounded by riders. I didn't want it to tuck. 'It was a tricky race, and I'm glad to finish. It's by no means what I wanted, but at least it's a starting point. Importantly, I found out what we need to fix for next week, and if we can get a little bit more stability, it will be very beneficial.' The former Moto3 champion will not have to wait long for another chance, with the Dutch TT at Assen coming up this weekend. For Binder, it represents not only another race, but an opportunity to finally reset a season that's struggled to gain traction.

Brad Binder turns his poor run of form around with solid ninth place

Weekend to forget for Darryn Binder and Ruché Moodley at Italian MotoGP. Brad Binder is happy to get his MotoGP campaign up and running again. Picture: Red Bull KTM Brad Binder hopes his solid ninth place in the Italian MotoGP is just the start of better things to come. The Red Bull KTM rider was under serious pressure going into Sunday's main race. His crash on the first corner of the sprint race on Saturday meant that he went down in five of seven starts, with only three championship points to show. He made a good start from 15th on the starting grid at Mugello on Sunday and quickly found himself in contention for the top 10. He moved up to eighth place late in the race before team-mate Pedro Acosta edged him by less than three hundredths of a second for eighth place. Brad Binder stays positive The seven points Binder earned for ninth place saw him move up one place to 13th in the title race on 42 points. Marc Marquez is running away with the MotoGP championship on 270 points. 'It was a tricky race and I'm glad to finish. It's by no means what I wanted but at least it's a starting point,' Binder told the KTM website after the race. 'Importantly I found out what we need to finish for next week, and if we can get a little bit more stability it will be very beneficial.' ALSO READ: Brad Binder apologises to Red Bull KTM after double French flop KTM boss delighted KTM team boss Aki Ajo was also glad to see a strong finish from Binder. 'For Brad it was a solid day after some crashes recently. It was important to finish and get some confidence back,' Ajo said. Things did not go all that well for the rest of the South African contingent in Italy. Brad Binder's brother Darryn finished outside the Moto2 points in 21st place, while Ruché Moodley crashed out on lap two of the Moto3 race. The next stop on the calendar, the 10th of the 22-race season, is the Grand Prix of the Netherlands next weekend.
