Burger King to roll out 1,900-calorie 'yokozuna' burger in sumo collab
Burger King's limited-edition Baby Body Burger clocks in at 668 grams, much more than standard menu items. (BK Japan Holdings) KYOSUKE JINNO TOKYO -- The Japanese arm of Burger King on Monday announced an 1,876-calorie sandwich as part of a partnership with the Japan Sumo Association. The 2,590-yen ($18) Baby Body Burger features five flame-grilled beef patties, four slices of bacon and four slices of cheddar cheese. It weighs in at 668 grams, when normal menu items top out below 500 grams.

From sushi to udon, Japan food chains beef up overseas

(Toridoll Holdings) KYOSUKE JINNO TOKYO -- Japan's major restaurant chains are striking out abroad, as limited growth at home and an openness by foreign customers to accept price hikes present new opportunities. Zensho Holdings, which operates a host of chains from sushi to hamburgers, plans to open 3,000 stores overseas over the three years from fiscal 2025, bringing its sites abroad to nearly three times that in Japan.
