May pursuit ends with arrest of Verona man
TUPELO – A mid-afternoon pursuit in late May ended in late June with the arrest of a Verona man.
On May 25 just before 2 p.m., Tupelo police officers conducted a routine stop for multiple traffic violations on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Since the driver was acting erratic, the officer told the driver to step out of the vehicle. Instead of complying, the driver sped away, initiating a pursuit. The patrol officers terminated the pursuit shortly thereafter for safety reasons.
The investigation led police to Kadejah S. Martin, 31, of East Main Street, Verona, who was arrested on June 30 and charged with one count of felony fleeing, as well as misdemeanor counts of careless driving, disobeying a police officer, DUI-first, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Harry Sumner set Martin's bond at $50,000. She remained in the Lee County Adult Jail Thursday afternoon.
